PETA's opinion on literally anything shouldn't matter to anyone. TBF, they got used for exactly what they were being reared for (if the firefighters didn't get to eat them then they would've been sold to someone else for food anyway), at least they didn't wastefully burn in a fire, though saying they didn't suffer the same fate as overcooked pork does seem a tad ironic. Woulda maybe given them at least one to keep for a pet *shrug*

I'm not exactly sure what the story is. The pigs were going to be killed for meat anyway. Farmers generally aren't that sentimental about their livestock. He was probably happy his barn was saved.
