Final Fantasy XV team (Square Enix BD2)'s next game is targeting the PS5/XB2 gen

Probably not very surprising given how late in the generation we are.

Final Fantasy XV was released last year, and while a large part of the development team is still working on DLCs and expansions, it’s obvious that they’re already thinking of what might come next.

In order to shed some light at what could be a future project for the folks who brought us one of the biggest JRPGs of the generation, DualShockers asked Director Hajime Tabata during an interview at PAX West in Seattle.

Tabata-san explained that for its future projects, the team is not looking at the current generation of consoles, but at the next. While the Windows Edition of Final Fantasy XV represents the current level of technological achievement for the studio, their sights are “set to the future where they can go even higher.”

According to Tabata-san, the Windows Edition is roughly at the half-way point compared to what the team is setting as its final goal.

On top of that, the multimedia nature of the Final Fantasy XV project, with many entry points for the audience, is also a framework that the team wants to use and build upon for its next games.

I expect FFXV Windows edition to appear on PS5/XB2 and also a launch title of some sorts also FF7 Remake on it

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
Not surprising considering how they are milking FFXV for every last drop.
But... the PS5 and Xbox One X 2 isn't coming for like... 3-5 years...

Well..and you know how long SE needs to deliver their games. FFXV/KH3 were announced at e3 2013 iirc.

would need better writing. It was flawlesssss.

But seriously I'm still excited to see what BD2 has in store. Had plenty of fun with XV so I'll probably be down for whatever they're making.

It's 2017 and they are still talking about adding more story dlc not surprised

This gen is a wrap by 2020 anyway

Well considering dev cycles for big budget games and RPG's, that seems pretty obvious. 3-5 years puts you easily into PS5 and NextBox territory. I'd be worried if it wasn't being developed with them in mind

Many entry points? Fuck that shit. Why does he think that Kingsglaive was a good idea? If plot points are important to the cohesion of the game, they should be in the game.
