Man, I want this game so bad.

That theme sounds hecka good.

I just wanna see Orochi and Kagero join!!!! Please!!!!

Plz stop teasing. The wait for TGS and the final reveals is killing me. orz

It's a gameplay montage of a bunch of characters already announced. More specifically, it contains all the characters from Awakening announced so far (so Chrom, Male Robin, Cordelia, Frederick, Lucina, Female Robin, and Lissa). It's not the final roster from that game though.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6p7iR5fWds

While we're all expecting Tharja, how do you know they aren't crazy enough to not include her? How do you know? D: How do you know she won't go full yandere on Robin for forgetting her in DLC?

'cause they said that they still have Awakening characters to announce lol.

I really despise the fact that Awakening and Fates completely dominate Fire Emblem series. That would be like if Square Enix makes a FF cross over game such Dissidia and only features characters from FFXIII and FFXV.

I just realized... We're going to get butt rock versions of FE themes.

Oh man, that legitimately made me more excited than anything I've seen thus far.

Add in VII and that's exactly what they kind of do.

Nah, did you know about the latest Dissidia game? They even had Ramza from FF Tactics in it and that was a spinoff. I mean yeah SE does play favor to the more popular entries and milk them, but they don't completely neglect older titles when it comes to cross over that supposedly represent the whole franchise.

Looking good. Hoping there will be more from the Awakening cast.

I know it's unlikely, but I would love if they added Libra or Lon'qu. Here's hope though!

Yes! I would love Lon'qu and Owain, personally. My sword hand is ready.

I mean if you strip away context like the respective sales of each entry in those two series, their legacy/impact and the longstanding interest from fans both new and old in those legacy titles then yes, that would be an apt comparison.

I for example loved Ranulf, Skrimir and the laguz in general from the Tellius games and would love them in this game. Did I expect it though? Of course not, because the people who've made Fire Emblem a success don't have a clue what laguz are.

In reality though a compilation like this was always going to be dominated by the newer Fire Emblem games, just as Cloud was always the likeliest choice for a FF representative in SSB unlike Lighting, Noctis or any character from XI, XII or XIV.

Also despise... really? Isn't that a bit too strong? It's characters in a video game man...

"I wish characters from more FE games" horse has been said by almost everyone. It's not changing no matter how much you whine. Move on.

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
They really dont wanna show the 3DS version...cant blame them though lol.

Looking good.

The game definitely looks a lot better when you show actual gameplay instead of random scenes with out-of-context voice acting layered over them.

I'd like to see an English version of the same trailer to properly judge whether it's the trailer content or the English dub that I've found more off-putting.

Still not over the character selection choices but Frederick, Cordelia, Lucina and Chrom from Awakening alone are all characters I'm interested in trying and that's not even looking at the Fates characters, so there's still plenty here for me even if it's not as varied as I'd like. Lissa can go to hell, though. There's only one character that should be wielding a giant axe in this game.

There's dominated, and then there's nearly completely composed of.

When characters are the selling point, despise seems like the appropriate word.

When are they going to announce Rinkah's abs as a playable character? The wait is abominable!
I apologize for nothing.

ND: And thus, the time is up for this occasion. We look forward to the next issue too.

Hayashi & Usuda: Okay!

ND: So finally, please share anything else you’d like to say!

Hayashi: I’m rather unwilling to say this… but there are still many more characters appearing. Please enjoy predicting who are going to appear! There are still more characters appearing from Awakening!

Usuda: We only announced characters from Awakening this time, but I think you should have a good grasp on which characters will be coming. I’d like you to also predict how the roster from Fates and Shadow Dragon will be like from here on! Also, this title, which is fully voiced, is filled with love from not only us development staff but also from the voice actors, so please kindly anticipate it!

I admire your passion I really do, but you're really not achieving anything here.

Like I said I would *love* to play as the hawk king Tibarn, and deliver death to my enemies from above. It'd be great. I'm on your side totally.

But you know the situation, at best non-'animu' FE characters will be DLC, you've admitted you despise this game... maybe move on I dunno?

Game's out in Japan in 20 days, and we haven't seen a single Shadow Dragon character besides Marth.

Whether you're satisfied with the roster or not, that's just bizarre to me.

Dissidia does have the sword issue that Musou tried to avoid (although it was off to a very bad start with its initial character reveals).

They're doing it at TGS, but it does appear the Shadow Dragon roster is going to be smaller than I hoped.

They're planning to announce characters up to 6 days before the release. That's the Koei Tecmo way, they did the same with Hyrule Warriors.

I'm not trying to achieve anything here besides commenting on a game. There doesn't have to be a larger goal on a video game message board.

I still have a morbid curiosity with how this game is going to turn out ultimately, so I think I'll stick around. You yourself could just move on if you see a comment criticising a part of the game.

No I get that Awakening and Fates are popular and make the franchise more well known in the west but this game could at least include a protag from previous instalments to represent them and it would please the long time fans as well as the newer ones but they couldn't even bother to do that. As the other guy posted, there's dominate, and there's completely dominate. It's like IS doesn't respect their older titles at all. It would make more sense if this game is called Fire Emblem: Warriors of the Awakening and Fates or something.

Jesus christ. Why is every thread for this game just constantly shitting on Awakening/Fates characters and demanding that they throw in older ones? Look at Hyrule Warriors initial roster, then look at the ones introduced in the DLC and 3DS version. They're going to do the same thing here, so calm down already. Everyone's sick of it

I mean that's fair enough when you put it like that, just be aware that there's better things you could be doing than winging about the exact same thing about a game you despise, especially when it's been made clear multiple times why things are the way they are and there's noting to be done to change it, and these repetitive arguments go nowhere and only serve to make discussions go round in circles which tire and annoy people who are genuinely looking forward to the game and want discussions to progress somewhat.

I too will be sticking around because I'm still looking forward to the game immensely, whenever I- well I've never despised a video game so- felt ambivalent towards I game I refrained from commenting and assumed that was for the best for everyone.

But as I said I've never despised a game so if this does help you in some way you do you. As has been pointed out there will be multiple character reveals yet which I'm 99.9% sure wont placate you much so I look forward to your future comments!

I still find the fact that they didn't want the game to have every lord character from the series in it because "too many swords" but then went and added two Corrins and two Robins fucking hysterical

that Nintendo dream issue where the interview came from is before Cordelia reveal iinm so hayashi might refer to her in that interview.
granted that we do know at least validar exist in the game thanks to the history mode preview screen so there probably more awakening charas, but I still believe base playable chara from awakening is already complete

Oh, didn't thought of that, since the translated interview came two weeks after the reveal, you may be right.

Oh, huh. That's news to me.

Hopefully it's not too small. The only obvious "lock" from SD, outside of Marth is Tiki since she has an amiibo.

That makes sense, but I guess I was never really expecting them to front-load so many Awakening/Fates character reveals. Just seems weird to me, especially when they haven't had much to say on character selection besides "we're picking units from these three games."
I still find the fact that they didn't want the game to have every lord character from the series in it because "too many swords" but then went and added two Corrins and two Robins fucking hysterical
To be fair, male Corrin and female Robin are more or less just skins that aren't usable in the story.

Alternatively, know that in a fanservice game, talk about the roster is going to dominate discussion until, and maybe after, it releases. That's not changing, either. Best accept it.

I mean if that's your grade A punchline you must be easily amused. Neither of those characters use swords exclusively without any differences from say Chrom, Lucina and Ryoma, and I'm 99.9% sure every single character they've revealed since the e3 Swordgate has not been a sword user.

I had hoped all those additions of archers, dracoknights, troubladors, Pegasus knights etc had at least moved the conversation away from "lol 2manyswords4me" but as I said above, circles. Back to the beginning we go I guess.

Depends on how they're doing the story and dlc.

Would you rather just have Ike in the main story?

Or a tellius dlc focus map pack with Ike, Soren, and Mist?

How many times is it gonna take for you people to understand that our issue isn't that too many characters use swords, but that the devs themselves used the excuse that they wanted variety in their game to justify only having Fates/Awakening characters and then went and ignored even that (to the point where they added two of the same character twice)?

I do admit I am easily amused by this joke of a game tbh

I'm more amused by the fact they said the sword thing, made their OCs sword users, then said in a later interview that they had considered giving Rowan ans axe and Lianna a lance to offset the sword issue but decided against it :p

As stated earlier, male Corrin and Female Robin are simple skins with no unique moves or role in the story mode. Also, Robin uses Magic mostly, I don't remember seeing them use swords other than the Levin Sword during one special.

(Having both OCs use Swords was dumb tho, but we know that Class Change is a thing in this game, and they gain access to other weapons upon promoting)

All of the newest character reveals have been non-sword users. I think the last new sword user reveal was Lucina and since then we've had axe, lance, bow, and magic users. But judging by your last comment I doubt you care so I'm not sure why I'm bothering.

Where is this unabated anger coming from? Can we just chill?

I've loved Fire Emblem for years and despite following these threads since the game's announcement I can't comprehend this emotional reaction that has ensued.

There's a great amount of variety in the game is there not? Magic, lances, axes, wyverns, pegasi, males, females, transformations, horses, samurai, archers and yes *gasp* swords. That's what I've known Fire Emblem to be since I played my first game in the series, Radiant Dawn 10 years ago.

That was a poor bit of PR the dev said, at a time when there was mostly just sword users announced, but I don't see why you're still getting worked up about it now when we can see they have created a good amount of variety, and it wasn't absolute nonsense.

There's no FE7, no laguz *wipes tear away*, no Gaiden, no Lyndis and yes there's 2 Robins and 2 Corrins. There's plenty of ways this game could be improved, and I'm sure there's some people out there who love that there's both sexes of the avatar characters in here, but as I said I don't see this anger justified at all...

What would it have taken for you to be satisfied by the by? One character from FE7, 8 or 9? 2 or 3? What if they were Ike, Lyndis and the Black Knight, all sword users? Would the game have still been a joke? What if one of them was Michiah, joke status lowered by 7 joke status points? Alm and Celica in their animed Echoes appearances? Would that make things better or worse?

If you're going to keep posting in these threads at least extrapolate what would've made you happy so I know what I'm dealing with here. 25is characters and only about 4 from Awakening and 2 from Fates was what you were honestly expecting in January?

Please say it ain't so.

Might as well try to change the conversation from the usual boring arguments with the same people that occurs on every thread :

Fire-Emblem-Warriors_09-07-17_005.jpg

On this pic from Famitsu, you can see that the weapons are divided in six types : swords, spears, axes, bow, books and stones. Each of them has already two or more characters announced, except for stones, which doesn't have any. Tiki will obviously be one of them, but I wonder if they're going to add a second one too, 'cause they wouldn't create a dedicated type of weapon if it was only for one character.

Nowi ?

Again, the point isn't that they use swords. The point is that the devs said the reason they went Awakening/Fates only was for the sake of variety, and then went and added two repeat characters. They should've said "we're only added characters from Waifu Emblem because they make us more money" (or the PR version of it) instead of treating their fanbase like fucking idiots. Then again it seems many people bought their lame excuse so hey, good for them.

That would have been so much smarter, as it looks like Daario is also a sword user.

Yup
after having tried the demo, I simply can't wait for it to arrive.
What pisses me off actually is that I was expecting it for late September, not October!!!

Yes glorified optional costumes fill me with indignation as well.
