Fire Emblem Warriors characters trailer #1

Again, the point isn't that they use swords. The point is that the devs said the reason they went Awakening/Fates only was for the sake of variety, and then went and added two repeat characters. They should've said "we're only added characters from Waifu Emblem because they make us more money" (or the PR version of it) instead of treating their fanbase like fucking idiots. Then again it seems many people bought their lame excuse so hey, good for them.

And the point I'm trying to make is that there is no "two repeat characters", since male Corrin and female Robin are simple skins. I don't think the "too many Swords" is a good excuse for the SD/Awakening/Fates focus and I would like characters from other games in the series, but let's not spread misinformation here.

About the trailer, I'm guessing we'll see a similar Fates trailer and then the Shadow Dragon reveals. Wonder if they left the Shadow Dragon side until last because Awakening/Fates may gather more interest or because the Shadow Dragon side will be, in a way, the one with the least "safe" choices and thus the most "surprising" for lack of a better word?

On this pic from Famitsu, you can see that the weapons are divided in six types : swords, spears, axes, bow, books and stones. Each of them has already two or more characters announced, except for stones, which doesn't have any. Tiki will obviously be one of them, but I wonder if they're going to add a second one too, 'cause they wouldn't create a dedicated type of weapon if it was only for one character.

Nowi ?

It could just be there for future DLC use outside of Tiki. Alternatively Corrin could get an alternate class to allow use of Tiki's moveset since they've got the part-dragon thing going on as well. Female Corrin in Heroes also uses stones while Male uses swords to reinforce this idea.

Honestly I'd prefer that over Nowi. I know there's been discussion of use of the word 'despise' in this thread but my feelings for that character come very close to the term.

... Why does them being skins change anything, exactly? They're not bothering with skins from games that aren't FE13/14, that's for sure.

Now *This* is the hate brigade I will happily join.

PLEASE no Nowi over Tiki.

Yup
after having tried the demo, I simply can't wait for it to arrive.
What pisses me off actually is that I was expecting it for late September, not October!!!

The release date annoys me too, it's too close to Odyssey.

Yeah it could just be there for upcoming DLCs, that's probably the case. At least it does confirm that there's going to be at least one main stone user, probably Tiki.

I love how you're practically just gods wiping out dudes but in the regular games you get one critical arrow or blow by one guy and you're done for.

Why would alternate skins for avatar characters like Corrin and Robin be for anything other than their opposite sex versions? Why would they be characters from entirely different games even? Where exactly is the outrage now coming from?

As said above this is making the winging about clone characters in Smash look reasonable lol.

We all know that Koei Tecmo loves Fates and Awakening. But who do you think they will add from SD if anyone?
I reaally want young Tiki and Minerva, and if they don't hate old game as much as I think, Merric and Linde would be good too.

History mode seems like a much better excuse to focus on a limited number of games. I really don't get why they only revealed it now.

I really despise the fact that Awakening and Fates completely dominate Fire Emblem series. That would be like if Square Enix makes a FF cross over game such Dissidia and only features characters from FFXIII and FFXV.

The series is throughout represented in material made by IS itself though. We just got a remake of Fire Emblem Gaiden out of all things and Heroes had FE7 characters from the beginning. It's just the collaborations with other companies (Atlus and now Koei) that have ended up lopsided like this so far.

Shadow Dragon Tiki is getting a new Amiibo, so I think she's a pretty safe guess. History mode featuring Gharnef's map makes me think we're getting Merric or Linde too. And also likely Camus, considering the weapon choice for Frederick.

Yes, they have the whole cast to announce beside Marth. At this point, the Fates roster is probably complete, and they have at best one character left from Awakening, with probably 4 announcements left for Shadow Dragon, including Tiki.

What are the point you're trying to make with this post? That you'd like Lyn as a Ryoma skin with no unique moves of her own or story involvement at all? That's what those skins are.

tbf, pretty much every map in FE games have many more enemies than playable units, specially endgame. Ephraim canonically beated entire armes just with Forde and Kyle (and Orson, to an extent) so this isn't much different lol.

I just think 4 is too little. Linde, Minerva, Caeda, Meric, Cain and Abel are all characters that would be no brainers imo. With Tiki and Marth it would be 8 characters that would be as much as Fates and Awakening.

I just want to make sure the EU version will have dual audio like the US one was hinted to at E3 before buying.
Otherwise I'm ready for a new Musou, been a while since I played Hyrule Warriors Wii U.

Dang. I haven't played a musuo since PS2 and the only Fire Emblem I've ever played is Heroes but this is looking pretty good to me for some reason.

Also, how many fucking characters exist in the Fire Emblem universe? I can't ever keep up with these threads.

I think Camus is more likely than Cain and Abel.

ND: Indeed. But are there any reasons you’re using the DS remake instead of the original version? Is it because the original game didn’t have the weapon triangle?
Hayashi: That may also be the case, but the big one is that the designs are based on the DS remake.

They've said that the reason they're referencing "Shadow Dragon" as represented in this game, rather than the original FE1 is because they're using designs taken from Shadow Dragon and the only characters with full artwork in Shadow Dragon were

Marth
Caeda
Ogma
Navarre
Nyna
Merric
Minerva
Linde
Tiki
Camus
Gharnef

Everyone else only has low quality CG renders and likely rough concept art.

Ok trade Cain and Abel for Camus and Navarre. But I think Camus would fit more as a boss character that is unlockable.

I mean that's fair enough when you put it like that, just be aware that there's better things you could be doing than winging about the exact same thing about a game you despise, especially when it's been made clear multiple times why things are the way they are and there's noting to be done to change it, and these repetitive arguments go nowhere and only serve to make discussions go round in circles which tire and annoy people who are genuinely looking forward to the game and want discussions to progress somewhat.

I too will be sticking around because I'm still looking forward to the game immensely, whenever I- well I've never despised a video game so- felt ambivalent towards I game I refrained from commenting and assumed that was for the best for everyone.

But as I said I've never despised a game so if this does help you in some way you do you. As has been pointed out there will be multiple character reveals yet which I'm 99.9% sure wont placate you much so I look forward to your future comments!
Yes I'm well aware I could be doing other things besides posting on a message board. Discussion can happen regardless of whether people post these comments, if you get caught up in it, that's really on you. Lots of arguments being made here annoy me too, but I'm not going to try convince people to stop posting them. I mean what do you want to talk about here? It's a character montage. That's where the discussion was always going to head.

If you want something to talk about, why these Awakening characters in particular? Why not someone completely out there like Henry or Libra or Say'ri. Their argument of bringing Frederick and Lissa was because they were Shepherds and a lot of players know who they are. Okay, then why Cordelia? Just because she's popular? There are a bunch of popular units from Awakening missing here already. They made a considered choice to ignore child units but caved when it came to Lucina. Their early character argument doesn't hold water for Fates with Felicia, Jakob and Azura still missing.

As of now there are 15 FE games (if we count the Fates series as just one game), of which only 3 are full remakes, and 3 are prequels/sequels IIRC. Each unique game has around 40-50 playable characters, plus a handful of notable non-playable characters. So yeah, there are a ton of characters.

Yeah but Awakening and Fates are good games with a great cast so it's fine

One of the reason I'm expecting a direct next week is that the timing and the way announcements are handled indicates that a big trailer is coming soon.

For Awakening, we see they come in the prologue stage in story scenes, and Cordelia and Tharja are popular characters with merch.

As for Fates, they just have way too many characters and you are not going to bench a royal (and Azura's probably in).

Shadow Dragon is going to be the wtf one with the roster choices.

I will enjoy this as I love musou. The roster choice and reasoning is disappointing though. At least in musou the Pegasus Knights won't be hot garbage like they usually are.

Here's hoping we get at least once General class unit.

I still find the fact that they didn't want the game to have every lord character from the series in it because "too many swords" but then went and added two Corrins and two Robins fucking hysterical

Oh for pete's sake, the 2 clones they added are skins for people who want to play as the opposite gender. You know... characters that barely took time to develop? I know you're down on modern FE's direction, but this is beyond petty.

Thanks for the laugh.

There might be no Direct, considering how Koei will have multiple reveals for it throughout different days during TGS. That's oddly close to launch though...

True, but they have to reveal Elise, Sakura, Female Robin to the West + all the modes and stuff like History Mode, the class change etc.
I expect something like the features trailer that aired in a direct one week before Hyrule Warriors launched.

She seems like a good idea, though there is the fear that we'll get both Tikis instead. I would also imagine that the Corrins will be able to use stones, as well.

I'm sure their DLC plans include something from the Elibe duology if only for Roy, which would put Ninian on the table.

Would have liked to see Alm and Celica in this. I just started Echoes and am loving it. Adding them in would please both old school and new fans no?

The fuck? Why do I see people say this? Is it a meme or just "urf durf these girls are trash"? I can't think of a single FE I've played where at least one of my peg knights wasn't a monster.

Celica would have been a ton of fun! Lots of moveset possibilities.

This looks weak visually speaking, the lighting is flat (like a wiiu/ps360 title) and the models/effects look on par if not worse than HW, I wonder if it's a budget thing, oh well :/

There's absolutely nothing that doesn't look better than HW visually speaking.

I hope we see Brave/Great Lord Lucina from Fire Emblem Heroes playable. I guess its really both a Lance Weapon and an outfit.

Probably shares some DNA with the New 3DS version.

However 60fps mode makes it easily palatable.

I'm bad at reading trailers like this—is the general assumption that Male/Female Robin and Male/Female Corrin have the same movesets?

We're likely getting it visually at least, since promotions have been confirmed to change the model. No idea about the weapon though.

What really bothers me are the backgrounds and lighting. I guess those elements are the ones heavily held back by the stages needing to be designed with the 3ds in mind. When the lighting is improved for the cutscenes, the game looks very similar to the CG renders from Awakening and Fates.
