I'm so confused about whether I should get my hold order shipped or not. All these horror stories are making me choosing to do it in the first place lol.

My fear is that, let's say your order gets lost in traffic, what then? Will they still have copies for Runner2 back from March? What if they don't have any more copies of one of the games you had ordered for replacement?

Also my worry, and something I hadn't really considered prior to now.

My hold shipment started with Risk of Rain, I'd hope they still have copies of that.

Uff.

I must admit that is frightening :|

That shadow Warriors 2 release, i really want it, no way at 1000 i'll be able to get a copy...
Tip for the future: I'd just go with the SRG version. SRG version even had the same cover as the LRG one will, just on the reverse.

Granted it's double the print run (at 2000) and not dripped in the sweat of LRG employees or whatever but basically the same game for roughly the same price with extras (I got the butt scroll). There's never any rush with the standard SRG releases either so you always avoid the LRG bumrush.

Finally got my Wonder Boy, standard edition

I do wish LRG used thicker bubble envelopes or a bit more protection for overseas orders... by the time Wonder Boy and my Jotun arrived the cases were slightly crushed and you know on the back cover where if it's been pressed it has some damage from the disc holder? Also the spines are a bit crushed. Nothing I can't handle really but some of these games cost me $70 AUD, I buy games from the UK all the time and they arrive in pristine condition for a lot cheaper...

Same thing happened to me, first time I've had issues with a LRG package. My spindle is horribly loose, almost like the factory pressed the game in too hard. I've got the same imprints on the back of my cover as well, though luckily it's on the cover that I wasn't going to display. I guess I'll start paying for more protection, box or case or whatever, in future orders.

Even put in a ticket for this to see if they had extra covers, and they don't. Seems like it would make sense to have a small number of extras for situations like this. I'd even pay for a replacement case/cover if that was an option.

I don't want to go all "first world problems... ugh" on you guys, but let's take a breather from all that worrying for a moment and consider what the odds are of traceable mail actually getting lost in traffic. I think chances are fairly slim you'll ever end up in a situation like that. Not saying it doesn't happen. Clearly it does, and when it does it sucks. But from my own experience... I've ordered online for over a decade, and hundreds of packages effectively arrived to my door, most of them in good condition too. Only about 3 or 4 did get lost, and none of those were traceable. So I'm not even sure something was actually shipped to me in those instances.

One of the issues was an outstanding bill LRG owed to the UPS, which they comically tried to blame the shipping company for.

LRGUIN.png

Um, yes it was blamed on UPS because it was a separate account made in our name that wasn't even made by us and we had no idea we had a bill. So it took a lot of research to find out why or how we even had a bill.

Turned out to be some items we got from a partner that was freight shipped to us and I guess they made a separate account for us to bill us for the charges. Not their fault we just had a failure to communicate that there was an account made.

Are you guys still using Asendia for shipping?

Whoever has 'passive/aggressive response to customer criticism while addressing none of the other recently discussed customer concerns over slow customer service responses, crushed boxes or missing shipments' on their LRG bingo card just won!

Maaaaaaan, I hope I don't get hit with customs. UPS can be a real bitch, and their centre is like an hour away, since I know I'll just miss their delivery.
I have to say, given the complaints here, I think I've just been very lucky. Never had a customs charge (bought the majority of releases, even with the DT CE where it was in a sizeable box) and never had any damaged items.

I've just seen the new bundles put up and wooooow, LRG is limiting...the limited release with variants of the same game now??? I'm glad I'm not an obsessive or collector and just in it for the physical.

It's genuinely getting to a point (e.g Flame in the Flood) where it feels like they're just nickel and dimming the hardcore because they can.

You shouldn't in the UK, please let us know if you continue to get charges.

At this point we may switch some countries back over to APC, should it still be an issue going forward.

This one time, I had my Risk of Rain parcel apprehended by my country's customs . This was when LRG had just switched to Asendia and, not surprisingly, the latter screwed up as they had no idea how to do the DDP service correctly. They were apparently told not to make a mess of things again, though, because every single game since then has come in fine (and it's been five new parcels or so) so I hope the situation is now fixed and deliveries will continue without issues (*knock on wood*). They even stopped using Swiss tracking codes which could raise flags in parts of the EU and are now using French tracking codes instead, so it seems they are indeed trying and good on them.

In summary: while my experience with LRG using Asendia started badly, it seems things are smoother now.

I've never gotten hit with customs. All my stuff came via Canada Post.
I've only ordered with Asendia once to Canada and it was hit with customs. This was a long time ago though. Everything else is in my Hold order that just shipped using the same method and it's gonna be pricey if the same thing happens.

Apologies if this has already been iterated upon, but it would appear the main website has been revised with the latest upcoming runs:

Sooooo it still wasn't UPS fault? Heh

My fingers are crossed for Ventura and yourself then. I wonder if chances of being hit with customs depends on location in the country? Likely not, but let's hope for the best.

A new side-scrolling project, Mecho Tales, from developer Arcade Distillery (Plague Road) was quietly confirmed for a physical PS4/Vita edition courtesy of LRG.

The art style alone is very reminiscent of Plague Road ! And I still don't like it. In the case of a platformer the overloaded background makes it inexcusably hard to distinguish the playable characters and the enemies. That is a terrible design choice.

Even if the game may be potentially a bit more fun than Plague Road (because 4 players action), that's not enough for me. A hard pass it is.

LRG's standards for picking games can be pretty low sometimes.

Glad to get another shot at Ys Origin! That was a bad week, money-wise, for me and I was upset that I missed it. Will get Caladrius Blaze too!

I know the issue has been long past
but I love that there's still 4 pages worth of people trying to unload night trap on ebay with people getting it as low as $50 now.

hopefully I can finally snag a copy (even used) for $30-40 in 4-5 months

According to an e-mail a few people received/posted on CAG, it sounds like the Night Trap 32X Cover Variant has been cancelled 'due to some unforeseen events'. :(

Also, I may have missed it but has anyone received their Lawbreakers digital copies via e-mail yet?
I pre-ordered both Collector's Editions of the game (PS4 & PC) but haven't received anything yet. I thought we were supposed to get digital copies at/around the game's launch back in early August...?

I wonder if the unforseen event was 'print run is too small' or 'we will lose too much money on these with a print run this size'.

I know this isn't the perfect place to ask, but if anyone passing through here has played it, how is Caladrius Blaze?

I was interested after watching some gameplay but after doing more research I read about a clothing destruction system and that raised some alarms. I don't care too much about that type of stuff but Is it actually a solid SHMUP under whatever they've layered on to make it appeal to certain markets? What's the difficulty level like for a moderate fan on the genre? (for reference, I found Astebreed pretty easy and Dariusburst CS's later bosses tough)

It's decent. It's from the developer of the Raiden series, Moss, so it's a developer with experience at least. Overall it's solid but nothing all that special. Graphics are a mix of PS2-level textures and PS3 level enemies and bosses. Some bosses have pretty cool designs and I'd say the art is above standard for the genre.

Gameplay is that you have one regular shot and one bomb button and each of the ~10(?) characters also have three different unique attacks each with cooldowns so you're meant to alternate between those three and the regular shot. These three attacks can be upgraded throughout the playthrough so it adds a little bit of customization and depth. Once you have beaten the game with all ~10 characters you can fully customize any of them with any three of the ~30 different unique attacks which is useful for high score runs and low credit clears.

Difficulty-wise, it depends on what you want to accomplish. You have infinite continues in all three modes IIRC so you can beat the game by holding X and pressing Start when it asks if you want to continue if that is your play style. No other inputs needed. There are trophies relating to 1 Life Clearing one mode and 1 Credit Clearing another and you can only face the true final boss if you 1 CC it but you have five lives and there are 1UPs. The true final boss is not required for getting the endings for each characters so it's not mandatory in any way. It's basically just an extra challenge. I love shmups but I wouldn't call myself very good at them but with the right strategy I definitely found it possible to 1 LC and 1 CC on difficulties enough for the trophies. The platinum is a bit grindy so I didn't go for it.

Scoring is strongly related to the use of the three special attacks which makes it a bit unbalanced. I didn't bother too much with scoring tbh so I'm no expert but the only way to increase the multiplier seemed to be to use the special attacks IIRC.

As for the clothing destruction it is stupid and distracting but you can actually turn it off in the Options. You'll probably get some lewd images as part of the story though but it won't be too bad.

If you're a fan of vertical shmups then I think it's a game you will probably enjoy. It's not a personal favorite but I had a good time playing it and am happy to have a copy in my permanent collection.

Spot on in every way. Worth noting that the artist (Suzuhito Yasuda) is also responsible for Durarara!!! and SMT: Devil Survivor character design among others.

The price bottomed out.

So I attempted to proxy for a small group of people for the Ys cover, unfortunately I wasn't able to cover everyone, so I'll be picking a few people at random and I'll DM you to figure out costs/shipping deets and whatnot. Sorry I couldn't get for everyone, shit happened but at least I can make a few of you happy.

Maybe with ESRB rating left out on the cover they are missing out on money. Probably demand Sony to help them keep the fee racketeering going.
