physical games are dead, long live physical games

Loving the thread. Currently waiting for my Switch P3/P4 plus the slip case to come in from LGR. I know that LGR sucks but I had to have the Persona physicals.

I also picked up a copy of P3 Reloaded for a decent price and got my FFVII Rebirth Deluxe … which I am not even opening since going to get PC version hopefully.

I almost exclusively buy physical. Everything here except Viva Pinata is pretty recent pickups:

New pick-ups from the past 2 months! added Unicorn Overlord to the collection yesterday, making it physical Switch game #144!

Love physical for various reasons and I'll always keep collecting Collector's Editions, but I'll proabably dial it back for the next gen. With Covid gone my game time has drastically decreased again so my backlog is getting pretty big right now.

Why 3 copies?
Quite a funny story, by mistake.

I bought the copy on the far left second-hand, but I was a bit hasty and didn't look closely. The game came from a library or used to be their property and they secured it with stickers on the disk and case. They also cut out the part between the front and back cover so that the game would have stood around on the shelf without a label.
I then put the cover back together with a photo editor and printed it out, it looks quite good, but when I tried to remove the sticker on the disk, I tore off the picture of the disk and exposed the first, white, layer.
I have no idea if the disk still works like this.
That fucked me up, which my girlfriend noticed and ordered me a new, intact version of the game a few weeks later as a surprise. Unknowingly Iof that I also happened to order a new version at the same time.
So now I have 1x zombie TTP, 1x gift TTP and 1x purchased TTP.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
Man, US copies of Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade for the PS5 are insanely priced.

I thought it'd be nice to get a copy to put alongside Rebirth and Crisis Core, but they're going for $100+ on eBay. Guess the US release was super-duper limited.

Sorry to hear that, the game is like 30€ (~$33) in Europe. Maybe an import is worthwhile?

I've gotten back into collecting old games. NES->PS2 gens. Anything after that I prefer digi. Too many games aren't playable in their best form directly off the disc, so there's less upside. But SNES cartridge vs emulator?? Shit son, cartridge all day and it's GOTTA be on a CRT.

And yet there are many that work wonderfully out of the box, even more than those that do not.
More info in the original post or directly on https://www.doesitplay.org/
This will be the case for the games listed here in particular, as most of them will only be released as disc versions several months after their digital release and are therefore already patched on the disc.

Yep, I grudgingly ordered P3/P4 with Slipcase cover from them, didn’t have the ridiculous shipping fees and still feel like I shouldn’t have done it.
Totally understandable with P3P and P4G since It's hard to resist FOMO. I skipped their pre-orders, buuuut I do plan on snagging the P4G Switch version once it shows up in stock at VGP (they have a deal with LRG and stock some of their releases)

Unless Switch 2 (or whatever it's called) has a similar format, I worry that the Switch will be my last physical set of games I purchase. Fortunately I'm getting of my most beloved games on the system, like most of the mainline Final Fantasy games, and now I got one another one of my all time favorites on it as well :messenger_grinning:

A Space For The Unbound, a very good indie adventure game with great pixel art from Indonesia, will be getting a physical release on PS5, PS4 and Switch at retail.

Almost missed it lol if it wasn't for friend of mine asking for my thoughts on the game. Needless to say I'll be getting it day one probably on the Switch.

Just saw this new listing at one of the specialist retailers I buy my physical games from.

Global indie publisher and distributor SelectaPlay is thrilled to announce that the special PlayStation 5 retail boxed edition of the first-person adventure game Inner Ashes is out today. This emotive title is available exclusively in Spain via specialist retailer GAME España, with other selected European and North American territories also stocking the physical edition*.

Adventure fans can grab the wonderful physical version of Inner Ashes, which encapsulates the games’ poignant messages. The specially designed sleeved box will include a printed artbook showcasing the game's artwork and a code to download the digital soundtrack of Henry’s emotional journey as well as the full physical version of the game.

Developed by Calathea Game Studio, Inner Ashes is a first-person narrative puzzle adventure game that invokes the daily struggles of Henry, a person living with early-onset Alzheimer’s. Henry must go on an introspective journey through two different realities on his quest to remember why he and his only daughter, Enid, have been estranged for so long.

For the German physical lovers, Media Markt / Saturn is currently offering The Witcher 3 Complete for the PS5 for €15.99 when you pick it up in store. It is listed at 19.99€, 4€ will be deducted in the shopping cart.
According to doesistplay.org no download is necessary and all DLC / game content is on the disc, with the exception of the armor of a thousand flowers set, which requires an internet connection for the reward menu in the main menu.
So far I only had the game digitally on the PS4 because it was outrageously cheap in a sale at some point.
With this version I can finally put the complete game on my shelf - nice.
