What single game have you purchased the most times alone (remakes don't count, but remasters do).

The Witcher 3, bought it first on gog, then on ps4, then on xbox and then once more on steam, and quite frankly I almost bought it on ps5 again.

Bulletstorm 360
Bulletstorm PC
Bulletstorm Switch (Hot trash Edition)
Bulletstorm Full Clip PS5

And I'm contemplating buying the VR edition.....

Morrowind. I've probably bought (and sold) a copy of Morrowind half a dozen times.

Skyrim would be the runner-up. I've bought it 4 times, if we include the PSVR version.

Idk, probably GTA5 as I bought it on PS3, PS4, PC and PS5. Oh and I've also bought Spider-Man and Death Stranding 3 times each. Ah, and Uncharted 4 three times as well. Many, many games I've bought twice, too (probably over 50).

Probably Resident evil 4

Gamecube
PS2
Wii
Ps4
Xbox one
PC

Possibly had it on either ps3 / x360 as well

Funny thing is I’ve only ever completed the game 2 or 3 times (which includes remake on ps5 earlier this week)

I don't think I bought many games even twice.
Psychonauts first on disc for PC, and rather recently on PS Store. (I might have it on Steam as well. Maybe some humble bundle? So maybe triple dip.)
Super Meat Boy on 360, PC-collectors edition, ie iirc steam. or was it drm free? Plus access via Plus Essential, ie PS4 and Vita I think, and I think EGS gave it away too.
Vampire Bloodlines disc and Steam.
I think Half Episode 1 was included in the HL2 christmas edition or whatever bundle and also in the Orange Box. Also HL2 then? Technically neither did unlock it a second time or whatever since it is the very same steam after all.
Brutal Legend on 360 and Steam.

I think that's it. Any double or triple dipping beyond that was only via Plus or EGS or EA or Ubi giveaways and having limited/rented access or straight gifts does not really qualify as a purchase.

There are many games I bought twice, but I can't think of many I did 3 times.

Ikaruga stands out because I first discovered it by burning a Dreamcast CD, then bought it on GC, then PC, then Switch. My best gameplay was still on GC using a GBA controller

Hard to Kill
My personal one would be 007 Nightfire for gamecube for 2 reasons a "friend" stole it and because I am dumb.
that game was awesome I played a lot with friends, then one day another so called friend borrowed it and moved out soon after. So I rebought it but like a decade later , I forgot I bought it again and impulse bought it in a video games store...So I bouht it 3 times and have 2 copies now...

EverydayBeast

thinks Halo Infinite is a new graphical benchmark
There are games I bought on multiple platforms (COD4, 360, PS3, Wii, PC, PS4) and so a lot of people like a game and will happily buy it again rather over something new. I think mass effect 2 was extremely good and that’s another example.

I guess if you include the genesis game collections that get released on modern hardware, those would be way up my list as well.

Do the Street Fighter 4 iterations count? If, so like 3, maybe even 4 of them.

Otherwise its a tie for a few games at 2 each.

Twisted Metal 2 (PS1, PS3)
Tekken 2
Resident Evil 1
...and some others

Shit, basically PS1 games bought on PS3.

Skyrim.

Still bummed that Bethesda just didn’t make elder scrolls VI after fallout 4. If they wanted another crack at a new IP it would seem to skip a “fallout” year rather than an elder scrolls makes more sense.

Oh well.
