People really need to define what they mean by "honest."

It's worth exploring. Venom of tuesday uses it really well, I'd recommend watching some of his videos. It has a lot of utility, although some of it can be matchup specific. Parrying necalli's v skill ftw full screen is a pretty good feel.
imo 'honest' seems to be the opposite of 'bullshit' aka hard to see mixups or specific overpowered attacks, etc. Do people think Cammy is honest? She's pretty good, but also very straight forward. Is there anything Cammy does that is bullshit/makes her not honest?
Oh sure, he has bullshit, but it's that his gameplan is still heavily footsies/normals based in neutral and he can't apply the same kind of continuous pressure that other (more frustrating) characters can.
I used to think Karin was an "honest" top tier character: very well-rounded with mostly strong options and just a few exploitable weaknesses. In this case her low health and poor AA kept her in check. Ideally you want the entire cast to fit into that mold to some degree. Although I do wish they thought of another way to nerf her besides low health. It's boring and almost always the female characters that get hit with it, so it ends up being a vagina tax.
When she was first revealed, I recall Floe complaining that she lost her command grab from Alpha (I believe it's just one of her normal throw animations). If Karin had an actual command grab I'd stop playing this game, lol!

When it comes to SFV, what is "honest" or not matters very little. Cammy has a corner throw loop and all of the plus oB buttons.

Punk's win % with Karin when he corners someone is over 70%. When he doesn't corner them? It's somewhere in the 30-35% range.
They definitely need to address how strong corner pressure is in the game in S3.
In the context of SFV, I don't know what that word means. Except Alex, who honestly is ass.

Venom! I think that's the guy who had the 'styles' video showcasing all the different ways he broke down using Bison (oppressor was using plus frame moves and staying in their ass, devil was taking to the skies, etc). It was kinda cheesy but it was a good way to break down a character so long as you are able to seamlessly switch between 'styles'.
That'd be solved by either better v-reversals, maybe a better wakeup option, or both. Like Nash gets bopped for his troubles. If I'm Bison, I get fucked in the corner, as I should, but my v-reversal is pretty good so whatever.
she doesnt have a throw loop except against abigail, but her corner pressure game is real strong regardless. She is def a dishonest character lol

Necaili is sick I just wish he was more fun to play. I actually think most characters are missing a singular thing that makes them fun to play. Maybe it's because I like having access to most of my tools, but I feel like most characters need like one more thing to feel complete.

FANG is shit, but I'd hardly call him 'honest'. I haven't seen much Menat yet, but it seems she relies on putting her orb behind her opponent which feels to me like it falls outside of what people usually call 'honest' – even if it doesn't make her particularly strong on the tier list. I agree that this distinction doesn't mean very much in real terms tbh, it feels more like a nebulous collection of "I'm not mad if I lose to this" and "I'm mad if I lose to that". But it's interesting to see what different people think qualifies as being labeled bullshit/honest (for instance, I agree throw loops are bs, but +oB seems p honest to me, even if the latter makes her much more annoying fight against than the former)
It reminds me of how people used to get heated over getting thrown in SF2. Now we have all this extra shit to get heated about!
For a sec, I thought you meant Menat. That's true, Cammy doesn't have a legit corner throw loop except for against Abigail.
But yeah, most aren't going to survive in this game if they're going to play an "honest" character, which essentially means someone who is devoid of the tools that makes a character strong in SFV.
Yeah, what you're saying is pretty much what I'd think of when the discussion of the term comes up. I feel that aspects of this game makes it more nebulous, though, and makes that discussion even more arbitrary. You're right: a key distinction is that being dishonest doesn't mean strong, and FANG has the most ambiguous cross-up shenanigans once he can set it up.
Her normal pressure can be pretty bullshit tbh. Barely any pushback on normals that are plus on block, free tick throw/shimmy setups, etc.
I do expect Capcom to cut her legs off come S3 tho tbh.

I wonder if any other character is gonna get the Nash/Chun/Ryu treatment. I feel like nerfs are gonna happen but I don't think it'll be too ridiculous after the backlash they got even pre-tournament.

I'm at lost when fighting a random Birdie with Nash. But then I switch to Cammy and I win 4 straight rounds against a Super Diamond Birdie.
She has no feet to begin with.

I doubt we'll get a new character next week, but I could see them revealing it at TGS or the tournament. Pretty sure Kira said they were messing around the files again like they did for Menat.

I used to be a casual fan of fighting games, happy with my casualness. Just playing arcade modes, against the CPU, occasionally against fellow casual friends. That was my fun. Now I kinda hate playing fighting games. The brainless AIs of arcade modes aren't enough anymore and online is an exercise in frustration. Don't want to ever learn how to play a fighter seriously again, what a gigantic waste of time and energy.
