MvCI DLC characters announced: Monster Hunter (F), Winter Soldier, Black Widow, Venom

I mean, there isn't a MvC3 model and animation set to pull from for him, so for all intents and purposes, he is a new character.
I'm gonna say the same thing I said on Facebook but that's a cop out. When Birdie came back you could say all the same things about him that people will say for Venom but he was included in their "where have they been" returning characters and not a "new" one.
Or being facetious, like I am.

What if they switch up the version of Venom?
Flash Venom is a new character, right?
I'm guessing, since someone like Thanos basically got revamped (no bubble chucking anymore), the same is most likely going to happen to Venom.

Hopefully either free DLC or 4 capcom 2 marvel next season even us out.
I'm here for the capcom characters. So more Marvel is meh for me.

I still think either Black Widow or Winter Soldier are Season 2 though.
Build up goodwill with the fanbase after shitting the bed with the roster and presentation?

Same here. Literally only Captain Marvel, Black Panther, and Venom interest me from the Marvel side and in UMvC3 the only character I liked using was X-23. I'm just really not feeling this game's roster at all.

That's the least they could do after all the buzz that the game has had after the initial release.
But you're right, it's almost impossible that they would give some free characters.
While I do have a gut feeling that Black Widow was fast-tracked over another Capcom character (be it Gill or anyone else) to address the lack of female fighters in Year 1, I don't think it's because of a lack of DLC females on Capcom's end. If anything, I feel like it's due to Black Widow possibly being the farthest along of the Season 2 characters, so Capcom fast-tracked her completion so she could be ready for Season 1. This would also line up with getting Laura Bailey, who was likely too busy with Uncharted: Lost Legacy to record for Chun-Li for the base roster, to come in for Black Widow. Laura's really the only option for Black Widow, outside of an unknown, seeing as Natasha's EMH voice actress (Vanessa Marshall) is already voicing Gamora.

That was my thinking too. Sausage Fest averted by end of the year.
If that "2 free characters for SSFV" rumor turns out to be true I can maybe see it happening, but not holding my breath.
Venom is "all-new" in the "Thanos is all-new" way. If he's all-new, he's all new.

All these years I thought the Monster Hunter was just some male create a character avatar.
Thanos isn't all new either and they never really advertised Thanos as all new in the game.
The rumor was 4 free characters for SSFV, not 2.

I would expect to see SSFV being announced at TGS, so maybe we'll know for sure this week.
It would be great if it ends up being true.

These six aren't going to diversify the color palette of the roster much. Venom, Black Panther, Black Widow, and Winter Soldier are all clothed in dark or black. Maybe they'll turn the blue up on Venom so he'll be like his true MvC self?
Hopefully, these folks have cool move sets.
I have to side with the crowd saying Venom being All-New is bunk. Great to have a non MCU character, but All-New.... naw.
I think the 4 Marvel and 2 Capcom characters is so weird. Maybe they are going to give some MvC3 Capcom rehashes for free? I would be shocked if they did a season pass with only two Marvel characters. I'd be down for it, but I think it wouldn't sell as well.

If Season 2 also has UMvC3 veterans, I could easily see the 2018 Character Pass having more than 6 characters in it (especially if they're gonna make up for lost time in terms of X-Men characters). Though I'd imagine that we'll have around 6 or so characters made from the ground-up.
Given how Grandmaster Meio is used in the story, on top of the way he was shown in the trailers without any restraint (unlike Monster Hunter, who actually is a DLC character), I'm not sure if Meio was ever intended to be playable when they decided the Season 1 DLC characters. That's not to say that he won't ever be playable, but I don't think Capcom was thinking of that when they were working on the base game & the 2017 DLC characters.
Season 2 needs those MvC3 veterans though, especially if those are X-men or FF characters, its the capcom side that needs mostly new characters with at least 1 veteran

I expect more than 6 characters por next year, having the models and moveset from Ultimate could do things a bit easier.

To be fair, we still have popular Capcom characters like Phoenix Wright, Wesker, & Vergil waiting in the wings.
Sadly, it's not a new problem for MvC games. MvC2 had the most black characters in a MvC game with a resounding 2 (Storm & War Machine). I'd like that to change with MvCI, but I'm not getting my hopes up.
Arguably, the female Kirin armor is as iconic to the series as the male Hunter armor.
Why do people keep saying this?
The rathalos armour is the most iconic MonHun armour. Most people recognized this immediately as MonHun.
I struggle to remember the Kirin armour except for it's white colour.

The sudden full dlc list release with no images and no trailers kind of just feels like damage control on all the reviews to me because for the most part they all complain about the recycled roster. Since their other complaint on graphics can't be addressed so quickly it just feels like they rushed to say the 6 new faces that'll all be out in 3 months to try and keep holiday hopes alive or something for sales. And if those cast were that close to finished they really should've just delayed the damn game anyway and base rostered them and sold a pass for a different season that wasn't ready yet. Now I just kind of wonder when a season 2 pass will be announced and released for sale given how quickly this season will end.

Gonna enjoy playing me some marvel but I still got that rough around the edges feel looking at it and knowing it was that close to at least having one of its major issues dealt with by something as simple as delaying it a few months. Maybe banking on holiday sales boosting their numbers to begin with or something. Games sorta struggle on January launches due to wallet fatigue. They definitely couldn't delay it to same quarter as DBFZ. They'd need major graphics overhauling with shader work to try and even approach something in trailers and on the shelf to get folks to pick them up over the polish present on DBFZ. Side by side MVCI would just come across as super budget title to casuals...not like its not doing that now though.
Scores in the 7 on reviews...oh well. At least tourneys will be hype. They coulda made a much bigger impact with any sorta effort though to mitigate the various obvious issues everyone has brought up for months.

Yep, this is true, maybe not for all the fans but a great number.
It's so bad when they say that the characters choices were based on who would be a better fit in the story, yeah right...
There probably is some truth to that.
