From today's FAQ:
"Does Battle Royale mean that Fortnite is abandoning PvE?
No. The team has big plans and is continuing to add features and develop new modes to play, including the previously announced “Block Party” mode. Stay tuned for some spooky details on our October updates soon."

I meant being pushed to the side by its player base, not by the developers. Battle Royale is huge right now, and with it being F2P I can imagine the majority leaning to BR without even caring for the rest of the stuff the game has to offer.

If it makes the company money, funds the game, and expansions, or new games, I think they'll be happy with it.

Didn't Fortnite 'sell' really really well before this, even despite people knowing it would go F2P, seems that they have done well with the PVE side already.

If BR is decent fun then in all likelihood I will have it installed when PvE releases for F2P, and will probably give it a chance having enjoyed the other side of the game. I'm sure I'm not the only person for which this scenario applies for on PS4.

If they hadn't made BR free, I wouldn't have paid for it and wouldn't have it on my system at all. I think it's a pretty solid move for them, and they'll be happy with an influx of people enjoying something they've created. Especially as for a portion of those people that enjoy the game, it will give them an avenue into trying PvE and the wider game.

This is going to get pretty big.

Even though I'm eligible for a refund I'm letting them keep my money. That's how much I've enjoyed my time with the game. They deserve it, it's great fun.

I bought the game yesterday morning before the sale ended :( Hopefully Sony's refund process is as painless as others are saying.

I don't suppose someone wants to try selling us on the PVE mode before we get a refund

I wonder how much marketing this is gonna get. I still wouldn't have even known this game received a BR mode if I didn't come across the thread about it on here. Could get big, but not if people don't know about it.

Wow! I'm so glad I didn't go ahead and buy the early access now. A good complementary game to my Paragon sessions.

You get items and stuff for the Early Access, also you got Early Access. It was very clear what you were getting into. I might still want to buy something to increase my storage in the PVE mode though. Edit: wow people are getting refunds? Do you keep the items on your account too? Can you buy it, get bad drops in the Lama packs, then refund and try again?

I really didn't care for those Lama boxes and things. I like to grind for that type of stuff myself, just like I grind loot boxes and keys in Paragon. When I use all of my boxes, or keys up I get bored, feeling like there's nothing for me to go after for a while.

not gonna lie I'm somewhat baffled how the graphics are so bad, when the game in general looked so god damn good. the environment colors, especially the grass, are so jarring and offputting. I don't get how I went from absolutely loving the games visuals to this. Looking forward to givin it a go though.

Are they finished with the game? Paragon, for example, is getting a major graphics upgrade tomorrow. It looks jaw dropping, and I already thought the game looked good. Paragon also released way before Fortnite, though I don't know if Fortnite is a finished product. Paragon still says Beta.

This game doesn't need blood and guts. It has feedback that you are hitting a person and rather or not he has a shield. Also when they die they pop like a loot piñata which is always satisfying.

There's a PVE team, and a team on Battle Royal. Apparently the people on Battle Royal are from Unreal Tournament team. Fortnite team are still PVE.

Gaming industry? This happens in every sector of entertainment. Superhero/comic movies. “Electronic/DJ” music. Competition/singing/talent shows on TV. When somebody finds gold, everybody else tries to reproduce it with their own “twist”.

This is the 4th or 5th shooter game with the same stupid Overwatch-style character design and graphics.

Come on guys, we should be demanding better.

Dumbfounded by this too. Ubi had ready made games with Wildlands and Division, yet they're gonna miss the boat. Crazy.

On topic: zero reasons for me not to give this a try. Curious to see how it plays.

This is the smartest thing they could do if they want to have a chance at becoming one of the big BR games.

Looks nice for a more arcade version of the mode but I don't care about the crafting aspect of it.

Anyways I'm liking what Epic is doing these years. They really dropped ballast getting rid of the Bleszinski buffoon and his dudebro franchise that had them stuck.

Paragon, Unreal and Fortnite have incredibly solid gameplay and the optimization is fantastic. Might give a try to the BR mode to check out how it's like when the game can actually be played smoothly because the developers behind it have a clue about the engine and actually understand optimization.

I still can't believe they managed to get Paragon running at 60fps on the PS4.

This guy has been awesome on the Paragon OT, I hope he sticks around for Fortnite+BR thread (maybe he does already). I don't even know if Fortnite has weekly community stream stuff like Paragon. Is there even a Fortnite official twitch?
