Vampyr delayed to spring 2018

Link.

Vampyr, the upcoming action RPG from Dontnod Entertainment, has been delayed from its previously announced November release window to spring 2018, publisher Focus Home Interactive announced.

Here’s the full message from Dontnod Entertainment:

Delaying the release of a project you hold dear is always a tough decision. However, we believe that meeting a deadline should never compromise quality. We were still convinced just a few weeks ago that we would be able to release Vampyr this year. Unfortunately, a technical issue – now solved – has set our teams’ schedule back at the end of the development.

This delay allows us enough time for all the polishing and balancing phase, much needed for a game of Vampyr‘s scope, with its ambitious, semi-open world, its complex narrative and deep RPG mechanics that give players a real impact on the world.

We want to thank our publisher Focus Home Interactive for giving us the means and time necessary to provide players a memorable experience… especially since so many of you are eagerly waiting for it.

That's okay. Take your time and make it the game you want it to be. I can wait.

Considering that everything's been silent for a while... not surprising, really.

Smart decision, anyway. In November this game probably would have bombed, badly.

Personally, I was very excited to play this in November, no other releases quite grab my attention there, but this is definitely better for the game in the long run. Make it good, Dontnod.

Good, game will improve with more time and November was always going to be suicide. Take your time, ladies and gents.

Wolfenstein The New Colossus ? As a gorehound I thought you'd be fiending for it :p

I will have to wait for some deep inpressions cause I got burned by the first, was all hyped and bought it day one only to find it boring as alll hell :(

Yeah, not surprising, unfortunately. Still can't wait for it, I was counting my PUBG money to get it day one, so I guess that gives me more time, haha.

I'm not too surprised, and honestly that's probably better for the game (not just in terms of its quality) as it would have been forgotten among a crowded Fall release lineup.

Ah well, still looking forward to it. Probably a good thing business wise. I'd be afraid of it getting totally overshadowed this fall.

Makes sense.

We hadn't heard enough about it recently, so this isn't surprising - they still had more work to do!
And the launch window should be much less crowded.

I'm disappointed that I won't get to play it this year but relieved that Focus Home let them delay the game and is giving them the time they need to polish it.

Even if the game is finished. Releasing it in the fall wouldn't be the best time.

This Fall is so crowded with AAA games with multi-million marketing budgets.

Perfectly fine considering there's too much coming out around then and, not just that it could be overshadowed but on a more personal note, I probably wouldn't have time to play it anyway since there'll be a plethora of other games to get done. Might as well delay away. It can only get better eh?

I'am perfectly fine with this being delayed, gives me time to clear out my backlog. I have faith these guys will deliver after the masterpiece Life is Strange.

I was only looking this on the weekend thinking about upcoming purchases and wondering why the marketing hadn't started to ramp up. I'm still looking forward to playing it at some point.
