Avatar sequels begin shooting this Monday 25th September

I can't *believe* these lazy developers keep making file sizes so damn large. Btw, how does technology work?
Where is shooting starting? I imagine there’s nothing(?) on location.

Curious if/when we’ll see some set pics/ actor/mo cap rigs.

I almost forgot James Cameron was a film director for a bit.

I can't wait to see this literally be the only theatrical release in its month because everyone else is just getting the heck out of its way.

Huh whut? James Cameron was in my town, in rural Canada, just a couple days ago investing in an organic pea farm.

What was he doing here when shooting starts this close?

Good thing Sam Worthington was able to make room in his busy shooting schedule for this.

To be fair, dude has been in pre-production on the films for years and has already shot a bunch of capture stuff without the principal actors.

He's replacing the paint used for those little performance capture face dots with organic peas. Aiming for a 100% eco-friendly set. Spared no expense.

James Cameron is going to live to be like 117, isn't he

117 = Master Chief
Halo is inspired by Aliens
James Cameron directed Aliens

James Cameron is directing the Halo movie.

Are they filming Avatar 2 & 3 at the same time? I vaguely recall hearing something about simultaneous production a few years ago. They announced that there's gonna be a gap between the first two sequels and Avatar 4 & 5 though, right?

3 year gap between Avatar 3 and Avatar 4.

One year gaps otherwise.

It's gunna bomb!!

No it's not

It'll do like $1.5 billion and there will be thousands of articles asking "what went wrong" talking about how huge of a "comparative failure" it is, followed by questioning if the next 3 are even worth completing.

the same will happen with Star Wars 8

Film could make $2b worldwide and people will try spin it as a flop.

This kind of needed to come out by 2012. No one cares at this point. It also rode the 3D wave, which is kind of dead by now.

It didn't ride the 3D wave, it was the 3D wave, you've got to give it more credit than that.
Also, box office will show you whether people care or not.

I guess? I genuinely wonder if the same interest for Avatar remains. It certainly hasn't had the same staying power of a Star Wars, or even Titanic.
