But PS360 is current gen or are people still being stupid and calling it next gen.

WoW looks awesome, Blizzard are masters of doing the most with the least. Building WoW2 is pointless when you can slowly rebuild WoW1 and charge the users for the incremental improvements.

Stop living in the fucking past. WoW is still the best looking MMORPG out there, yes even better than that other game (can't remember it's name) from Square Enix.

edit: oh and too bad screens look like shit no matter what I do, stupid compression. I'd recommend actually buying Cataclysm and go to zones like Deepholm, Vash'jr or Uldum.

Are you really that retarded or are you trolling? This pics you posted are NOT Vanilla WoW.

Even if it was vanilla WoW, its not the best looking MMO, not by a longshot.

It's not the best looking MMO techwise, but it's a very good looking game at high resolutions. I certainly wouldn't trade WoW graphics for Everquest II or Vanquest graphics.

But what does vanilla WoW have to do with anything?

I can understand that, even though WoW does nothing for me personally. But to say its the best looking MMO? I mean, even just on an art level, its been outdone.

Oh god now we're talking about WoW graphics?

Though I'm not one to talk I think FFXI is more visually appealing than XIV. But both those games and WoW have fantastic art direction and the latter two look amazing on PC.

Lol, someone hasn't played the game recently

Do all WoW players suffer from ADD?

WoW came out 2004, based on certain specs that made it look like a PS2 game or even less. Yes it got graphical update over time that make it look better.

Somebody was asking if the new MMO will have next gen graphics, as opposed to 2004 graphics with nice effects. I stated that I assume that it will look like a PS360 and probably get graphical upgrades over time.

I'm sorry, I promised that I would leave this thread... but do you have anger management problems? It really seems that way, (serious question btw), if that's the case, I apologize.

Ugg, if that chart is indeed real on dates. Can't say i'm jumping for joy for something that has a "maybe" release date of 4 years from now.

Just hurry up with Diablo III Blizz.

For the scale it looked a lot better than a PS2 game.

I know they said it won't be, but if this is Universe of Starcraft, I should really power through and save up a lot of money because that will be the end of me.

I'm not going to crap this thread anymore. I apologize if somebody has ADD or is mentally challenged (or have family members that are). You are not following the logic. This new MMO will not have 6 years worth of updates. It will simply launch. As a comparison I was using launch WoW pics. Somebody was asking how the new game will look like when it launches.

WoW maybe the most popular MMORPG, but it's not even close to looking the best (like others here already stated).

Regardless of what you intended to say, what you actually typed is that WoW looks like a PS2 game.

I wouldn't complain about people posting present-day screen caps when your post is in the present tense. You could correct yourself on that without calling everyone else in the thread retards.

What? Isn't that factually false, just from Blizzard's design standpoint (ie, accessible to a massive amount of population)?

I just realised something, if Diablo 3 does make it for next year then 2011 is by far the best year for games. D3, Twisted Metal, MvC3, Mortal Kombat, Virtua Tennis Move, Uncharted 3, Gears 3, Witcher 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, Zelda, 3DS, Crysis 2, Killzone 3, Resistance 3, Deus Ex 3, Portal 2, Arkham City and I can go on and on. The fucked up thing is when D3 drops, thats the only game I will be playing, lucky it's coming fall 2011.

2 planned expansions for Diablo3 = shutupandtakemymoney.jpg

To be fair, Blizzard expansions are quite substantial and I cannot think of one that has not been worth the money.

What will add even more interest is the inevitable MMO shooter coming from Bungie and whether Activision will be competing with themselves.

One will probably be paid, the other F2P.

It is kind of sad that we will never get Warcraft 4 unless WoW dies.

Of course, I like WoW so...
You know what'd be crazy? If Blizzard released a WoW expansion and Warcraft 4 at the same time and linked them, so their story is the same. So stuff could be happening in Warcraft 4 and the same events could also be happening in WoW, just from a different perspective.

It's going to be interesting, it's the only thing that makes me think they can't both be MMOFPSs.

The new Bungie IP being published by Activision isnt a MMO. Maybe the other IP but that might not be published by Activision.

I don't understand this "FPS MMO" concept.

Isn't Gunz an FPS MMO? With levels, a community, upgrades... If that's an FPS MMO, then Call of Duty already is an FPS MMO. But then there were people talking about a "Call of Duty MMO".

Or are we talking about an open, WoW-like world in first person with guns (and headshots)? 'Cause I don't think that would work.

Yup, 2011 has the potential to be either the most amazing or most disappointing year of all time. Go check out the 2011 threads floating around, they're hype machines!

CoD isn't 'massive'.

I imagine a real MMOFPS would be just like WoW but in first person and with guns as appose to magic. FO3 with a couple of hundred other people essentially.

EDIT: Beaten, Borderlands is a much better example too.

I don't think WoW with FPS Gunz would work either. They need to build it with more character and gear customising, and less random grind quests. Huxley was pretty much the direction Blizzard should go. As long as it is not the "Get me 12 space brains!" direction :lol

They should do stuff like WoW with the phased parts of levels and have people working together for a common goal and have the world alter based upon how people play.

Cataclysm specific designs are very easily some of the, if not the best looking for it's traditional type and scale. Little else along those lines is even close to on par with Skywall, Deepholm, etc. Game has come a long, long way since it's rather homely vanilla release, which I didn't even think was that good in 2004. Honestly, I'd have argued for FFXI back then, which for a PS2 game I thought scaled amazingly well at the time.

The tech has been modernized and massively updated upon, but it's certainly not the highest it can be, but you just can't compete with the level of art direction they've gotten to, especially in this genre. You just don't see art blended into games, at all, like you do with WoW lately, where everything nowadays is a massive, detailed set piece and swimming with detail.

If Guild Wars 2 nails consistency, I could see it easily being the crowned king of balanced visuals though, especially shifting it's scale and scope somewhat. Everything about that game looks perfect at the moment.

yes even better than that other game (can't remember it's name) from Square Enix.

Final Fantasy XIV, which in most parts is so insanely undercooked and half-assed, it's hard to even gauge it's aesthetics when it's nothing but empty wasteland and crazy pop-in. XIV isn't even close to on par with the other CG-lite MMOs that Korea likes to take venture on, it launched in a pre-alpha state and everyone is aware of that by now.

Complete and total waste of someone like Akihiko Yoshida as an art director. Maybe something will come out of the refocus. I was looking forward to that game for years, so I hope so.

Huge FPS open world CoD MMO sounds good to me.

Collect 8 [Gun Scrap Parts]. Return to Captain Price in Nikolai's Underground Bunker when you're done.

So that leaked list is real. A FPS MMO would be different. The codename Titan will be renamed to something else when its closer to the release date. Mass Effect like MMO, but Modern.

I don't know....playing WoW, even in 2004 at 1600x1200 was pretty damn impressive to me. The fact that I could run iTunes in the background with no issues with framerate probably helped though. I've always been more of a fan of Wind Waker than any of the n64 Zelda games, so maybe I just favor cel shaded/stylized/color rich palettes.

Age of Conan looks a LOT better than WoW.

I still strongly suspect it is a fan fake. Slap some old date on there, list a bunch of rumored projects and codenames, and list any projects between the fake's creation and the date to flaunt a 100% accuracy rate.

It's also worth noting that shortly after this chart was rumored to have leaked out of China, the general manager of Blizzard's China business was fired for breach of confidentiality.

Who are we kidding. Titan will be WoW 2.

Absolutely not. Though I can see them developing a PC/console MMO, then taking so long on it that the console ports are cancelled before release

To make a new IP their next expensive MMO is quite the gamble for a company with 3 franchises that are perhaps the largest in the PC world.

I think Starcraft, Diablo 2, and Warcraft 3 EACH sold around 10 million units, a fucking huge number even in console land and especially huge in PC land.

Way to discourage new IPs guys. Theres already more SC and Diablo coming out, I want to see what Blizzard has cooking.
