Village's favourite fighting game character after Red Hood.

I actually think that kari looks super generic and he doesn't interst me much. I'm actually not fond of a lot of EX characters.

If anyone is the shadow the hedgehog of street fighter, there isn't really one. The closest thing would be ed.

Nah, because Shadow's like specific. You are going " oh he's edgy" and its more than that.

Like the " shadow " thing is a character who is generally seen as a generational split between a franchises demographics that is super popular.

Like Jin Kazama from tekken
Or Rosalina from mario
Or Lucario from pokemon

Like its a character that hit and like it is " This is what this shit is now" Juri, might be Shadow tbh

It is a character who like " this is when shit changed and this person is the face of said change"

It's Akuma

No because Akuma didn't change street fighter. You feel me? Like akuma didn't split demographics. That's what shadow did, he's a character that is representative of a demographic split. When a franchise changed. I don't think akuma is that character, I don't think SF2 is that game. It megaman 2'ed street fighter, but I don't think it was a core change it what people Think SF is. I think 4 would be that game.

Is it really though?

Is it really?

Yeah. For better or for worse, shadow was the face of change in sonic as a franchise. So that's what I mean by " this character is the shadow the hedgehog " of a game. You don't have to be edgy, I listed rosalina, you just have to a visual representation of " Oh this is when all the new people came through and starting playing said thing " . Its less about being edgy and more about what the character did for the franchise. Because anyone can be edgy, Ryu's edgy sometimes, its a useless distinction.

Maybe like Juri maybe, She's very much " new street fighter" Or maybe like a SF3 character

6k is better than the 2k they had tho.

Really should have had this shit on a weekend.

Two CPT Premier events are on this weekend(SCR and EGX). Plus there is TGS which also has a big money invitational tourney. This Canadian event is still the highest paying tourney of them all, but then you would have forced people to choose and many will prioritize the CPT and possibly easier comp over more money.

There are also two ranking events this weekend but both events only have 1 player in the top 31 so it's a great opportunity for guys on the outside looking in to earn enough points to make Capcom Cup.

Thinking about getting a PS3/4 TES+ Madcatz stick. I already have a 360 Madcatz stick.
They should work fine together on PC at the same time, right? Anything I need to be aware of?

Mad Catz is dead and their last batch of PCBs were trash. I haven't heard anything specifically about the TES+, but you should be wary of buying anything after the TE2 imo.

Hmm. Someone is selling a new in box TES+ SFV stick on ebay. I was thinking of getting a second stick just to have for local pvp. Never heard of their PCBs being bad. But yeah, I'm aware they're out of business. So you recommend I look at other options?

Pretty much. Hori is always a safe bet, and I've heard nothing but good things about the Razer Pantera.

Tried to pinpoint exactly when I started to feel like I've been playing a lot worse than I did before, and I think I've arrived to the conclusion it was right around when Abigail was released. I wonder if spending so much time playing him, and other characters as well, made me worse with Mika for a prolonged period of time. That'd suck.

this reads like your own personal headcanon

for most people shadow is just edgy sonic, the same way akuma is just edgy ryu

maybe you've just hit the plateau before your next skill increase, which is natural

maybe take a break, maybe pick up a new game

Street Fighter demands so much of your time.
As i got back into fighters, starting with SF, i thought i would be able to juggle a few of them, lol.
Even just spending time with a different character feels like a commitment too much. Maybe that is because of the online ranking, as you are able to see your progress, or lack thereof, immediately.

Isn't this true for any fighter.

But it's true for SFV indeed. Learning a character is a serious timesink, especially if you're not super adept at this genre like some of us. :p

Could be that you´re simply juggling too many characters at the same time.
Or did you bench mika completely while playing other characters?

What Edzi said is right but I own a TES+ and from my experience its been a good stick. Its my secondary stick so I dont use it as much as my TE2, but Ive yet to experience an issue with it in the 9 months I've owned it.

I only ever play charecters that have some similarities like Karin, Cammy, Akuma and Nash.

I use the former for almost everything to whiff punish and have something in footsies.

Akuma for setplay and deal against grapplers.

And Nash... just to deal with Guile's boom.

Hey i made silver yesterday. My rise has began xD

I have to say though no other game gets me tilted like this. The times i change between stick and pad... Well with stick i feel i get to concentrate on execution better, which in turn helps me play better with my pad.

What fighting game doesn't demand a lot of your time to be competent? Maybe Fantasy Strike? Almost every fighting game I've played this year, last year, and in the past has required me to plunk in consistent hours to get above scrub level. There are variables, of course, like are you more adapt at 3D VS 2D, your starting skill line, etc. But most fighting games are an investment.

That feeling of nailing a combo you've been practicing in an actual match *kisses fingertips*

That feeling of doing something "high-level" like whiff punishing a move that doesn't have insane recovery. *kisses fingertips*

That feeling of beating someone who bodied you when you first started out *kisses fingertips*

'Datta's Wish' is the 5000FM challenge this week... again! This one's been used so many times, I didn't even have to look it up to get it. I hope they add more variety sometime soon.

For the record,
win a match with Dhalsim on the India stage.

Yes if you had a local scene whith whom to compare yourself. But i didn't have those. So this is the first time i take it real competetively.

Even then you are better than you think. SFV is pretty unforgiving in some respects so focus on learning something every match instead of just winning. You'll improve much faster.

Yeah they've been going back to this well really often.

Yeah, that's true. I always do better when i don't focus on winning. But not doing so is pretty damn hard.

Holy shit we're actually going to get 3 characters in 3 months.

They didn't even do this last year when they promised a character a month.

They can't do any new ones involving DLC stages because the backlash would be immense, so after they implemented the weekly targets system they probably thought to themselves "fuck this, why would we spend more dev time on ways to give the player free currency?" Now they can just cycle them indefinitely and what they gain from it is a counterpoint to people complaining about no renewable FM sources.

I bought a TES+ end of last year that crapped out after about of month of solid use, I wouldn't put much faith in stock Madcatz SFV sticks. I wouldn't recommend buying those sticks new or used from eBay sellers; who knows if they're trying to offload bad sticks now that Madcatz is gone.

The other parts and case are solid design though, so if you can find one cheap and aren't afraid to slap in a Brooks PCB if the stock one goes bad, that'd be a viable option. I've heard good things about the Razer Pantherea. IIRC, some ex-Madcatz employees who designed the SFIV sticks jumped to Razer to work on their stick designs.

If this is true I’m glad they managed to turn things around. Some people are thinking they might reveal the arcade edition on sunday too but I doubt it.

Edit: GO1 just destroyed Hurricane’s Cammy at EGX with Menat.

I have a friend who bodied me at SF4. I didn't play it for a long time, and when I decided to learn, he didn't take me seriously and was just doing stupid shit that I didn't understand or know how to beat. I got really mad, not because he was beating me, but because he was wasting my time, and I told him that. So I played a bunch of SF4 and by the end we'd go 50/50. Then SF5 came out. Bodied him. GG. Bodied him. DoA. Bodied him.

Now he's trying to learn MvCI and I've beat him 30-2 so far.

Not going to lie that every time I beat him feels like a victory because of how he treated me while trying to learn SF4. lol

All this Ken hate...can continue. Really watching Momochi play triggers me all the time. All those bad memories. I mean look at all those impossible confirms, disgusting!

If we see AE, it'll probably be next month like Majin Obama said.

The ken hate can continue because its been like 8 billion of them dudes online in the last few weeks.

I don't know who won what, where and how, but it was with ken. And it has made online more annoying

Huh, nah man. Its actually a criticism of his place in the franchise. He's literally the face of the " adventure era", he is for better or for worse a face of change. Also Edgy Ryu is just Evil Ryu? Akuma is just edgy violent grandpa. He's like heihachi but with better hair and even worse social skills. He's been doing Demon Flips since the war. Speaking of edgy violent grandpa's. Where's my reaper over akuma mod, I NEED TO COMBINE EDGY VIOLENT GRANDPA's.
