Good to see patches still rolling out. I know things are winding down on the game but would still be sad to see an official farewell. I am not sure how many people are still playing but I imagine it must be a good amount. Steam should boost the number some as well.

Found out about cross-play. It will be in certain modes - Exhibition, Lobby, and SL multiplayer. Ranked will be limited to the ecosystem you’re playing in. So Steam users will play other Steam users, etc.

Last thing to keep in mind - since these are different platforms, your rank on Steam is not linked to your rank on Xbox/Win10.

I'm not a big ranked player, so this doesn't hamstring me too much, and obviously cross-play outside of ranked is a nice buff to the community in general. I'm glad they're moving forward with this.

I typically only play ranked, so it's a bit disappointing for me. I just hope it doesn't lead to people dropping ranked for exhibition.

I'd be fearful it might, if the ranked population doesn't stay as steady outside of peak times. Peak hours I wouldn't worry.

I'm having a similar problem with Eagle. I own everything yet Eagle only shows available for purchase, and selecting that causes an error window.

I tried going to a friend's and signing in on XB1, and it shows I own everything there including Eagle and can download it. Came back to windows afterward, no go.

They just released it lol and I'm sure they made this decision on purpose. If I had to guess, it's probably the fact that the Steam version can be modded while the X1/W10 version can't. Not really a great excuse granted but getting to the top of the leaderboards every month actually gets you something as compared to most other games where it's just a formality.

Yes, there is some sort of resolution issue.
This worked for me:

-Change to windowed and restart the game
-All resolutions are now selectable
-select your resolution (1080p) and change to borderless(not fullscreen)

This is kind of a bummer, as ranked is where I prefer to play in KI. It seems like it was a design decision, not a technical one.

I sank too much time into the Xbox/W10 version to pick up the Steam one and start fresh. Hopefully everyone doesn't just jump over.

I'd buy it on Steam if I could just simply transfer my save. I thought they would have implemented an Xbox app, but I guess they opted for a more basic approach. Maybe there were some time/technical issues with that.

Anytime you have a unlocked game, you will have to deal with mods thus cheaters.

Fighting games online play is based on deterministic lockstep simulations, it is just sending input between each other (and checking for desyncs based on criteria). Any cheating that affects stats should generally cause desync/forever rollbacks. RTS also operate like this.

If it's on the game does the combos for you, kinda like autocombos but built for the KI engine since combos are so fluid here.

I didn't like it at first, but I can't say I agree. I have no issues with it once they tweaked it. I think it's better once you learn combos manually first though so you know its benefits and weaknesses.

You should definitely at least turn it on for triggering Ultras. (you can select parts of it to enable). There's no reason not to take that shortcut.

There are 4 aspects of Combo Assist, which you can customize individually or turn On/Off globally

• Opener: When connecting with a Normal Attack if you press any of the 6 face buttons your character will transition into a specific Special Move Opener associated with that button (Strength & Type)
• Linker: After having connected with a Special Move if you press any of the 6 face buttons your character will transition into a specific Special Move Linker associated with that button (Strength & Type)
• Ender: After having connected with an Opener, Linker, Auto-Double or Manual if you press Forward and any of the 2 Heavy buttons your character will transition into a specific Special Move Ender associated with that button.
• Ultra: After having connected with an Opener, Linker, Auto-Double or Manual if you press Forward and any of the associated 3 buttons (LK/MK/HK or LP/MP/HP) your character will transition into their Ultra.

You can play with all of those Combo Assist features ON and never use them if you hold back and/or still do the Special Move motions yourself, so it doesn't restrict you. That being said I would recommend to stop using the Linker and Ender Assists as soon as possible once you're more familiar with a character's move set. The Opener assist will help you confirm combos at first when you're mashing the same button more than once by reflex. The Ultra assist is always worth using since going into Ultra means you win the match and it just makes it easier to input faster.

Overall people have come to terms with the fact that it entails no gameplay benefits and any tourneys that aren't ignorant or superstitious allow the full use of Combo Assist, as do all Online modes. The vast majority of, if not all, competitive players don't use any aspect of Combo Assist however.

TLDR: It changes absolutely nothing to the gameplay, neither making it better/worse or giving you access to more/less options. The exact same restrictions and availabilities of your character are present regardless of Combo Assist being on or not. It just changes the input part by giving you the choice to not have to make motions for Special Moves within a combo.

to learn the proper combo breakers is a lot of time unfortunately.

over time you learn what the character is using. I'm sure you will learn what the jags players use and fulgore (it seems everyone still plays as them)

If you're new Jago is a great beginner character. Honestly pick whoever stands out to you as character design. Guys like cinder are very hard to begin with.

I fucking love Eyedol though. The two-headed monster is crazy and so much fun for me!
