My friends and I are going to have a Curb viewing party this Sunday. Really excited for the new season.
The article doesn't really explain why it's taken 17 years. And besides, the answer is basically understood to be 'Because Larry David gonna Larry David', plus HBO doesn't require the reliable creative structure that the major networks would.
Everyone check out the Origins podcast, here.
The first series, is a 5x45 minute exploration of Larry David's professional life, with interviews with his collaborators and friends.
The best part? You know those crazy movies from the Seinfeld universe? Like Death Blow, Chunnel, Rochelle Rochelle, and Prognosis Negative? They reveal the origin and plot of the real Prognosis Negative
- USA Today: My FaceTime interview with 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' star Larry David.Almost every show is longer than a half an hour, and some are going to go way, way longer, executive producer Jeff Schaffer tells EW. When we were writing the outlines, we just kept putting stories and scenes we liked. And then we found lots more fun stuff as we were shooting, so we ended up with way more than 10 episodes worth.
As the season progresses and our nitpicking protagonist entangles himself in more neuroses and trouble the running times of episodes will increase in length. By the time we get to the end of the season, there are some big, big shows, says Schaffer. People are definitely going to get their moneys worth unless, of course, they are watching it on BitTorrent or Pirate Bay. (Which is where some episodes ended up after a hack of HBO resulted in episodes of Curb and Ballers, among other programs, leaking online.)
Should these overstuffed installments be considered a gift to fans who spent six years waiting patiently for another season of Curb? I guarantee that the feelings of the audience were never taken into consideration, quips Schaffer. That is not the Curb way. That said, viewers will be pleased to go into bonus time. Theres a lot more Curb coming at people than in normal seasons, he says. Fans wanted us to throw them a bone and we tossed the whole skeleton at them.
David is still editing the 10-episode Curb season, "then Ill probably start thinking about another season," he says, confirming plans to keep going. (Phew.) "It wont be six years" until the next one.
I love more curb but I really hope this doesn't turn into an arrested development season 4 type thing. First the show appears to be shot differently going by the trailers, it looks like a movie. Now with episodes being longer than 30 minutes. I don't know but if there is anyone I trust it is LD.
One person's opinion but.... 🙁I watched the leaked episodes.
. So...Looks like it's a hit and miss
- Kind of sneak peak at the season ahead.Season 9: episode 1 "Foisted!"
Larry tries to rid himself of an inept assistant, offends Jeff's barber and gets into hot water over a new project.
A Pig and Curb fan? You have great taste.LD fan here. Checking in to say I'm excited for tonight's episode too.
Curb is so under rated. I don't know a single person IRL who also likes this show. I'm glad to see it's back.
Anyone know when this is up on hbo go on the east coast?
I've only seen S8 because of the Seinfeld reunion, I hope I can follow this ok
suzie looks like an entirely different actress. that surgery, geeze
you'll be fine, but why wouldnt you watch the previous seasons?
I guarantee that the feelings of the audience were never taken into consideration, quips Schaffer
Has Richard Lewis been sick?
He's not looking so good
Hes going to be in the next episode. Is Funkhauser on this? he is the best character in the show.
Started off a bit slow, but it quickly turned into classic Curb.
indeed. something was very off about the first half but the latter half was great.Started off a bit slow, but it quickly turned into classic Curb.
