The big question: Did they remove the long VS splash screen animation that adds an extra thirty seconds to getting in a match for no reason?

Really keeping the red / blue stuff instead of full color profile images for the health bars? I hope that changes for the final release. I've seen that mod on PC and it is a thousand times nicer looking.
I think the Red/Blue stuff is probably still there for the E-Sports side of things.

Not sure how I feel about the crossover costumes. SF was one of the few series left that hasn't been tainted influenced by outside licenses so far, and I always assumed that wouldn't change.

Also why the fuck are the portraits still Red/Blue? They could've at least made them gold. Actually, now that I think about it, there should be a UI edit mode that lets you play with the colors of the bars and portraits to suit your liking.

This looks like the arcade edition of SFV was rushed after the succesful announcement of Dragon Ball fighters Z, and they want to keep themselves relevant before people go deeper on Dragon Ball.

I wonder how often something in gaming is ever actually "rushed in response to something recent".

I'd estimate "not very often".

You really think all this arcade edition content was created in a couple months? All while Capcom was already releasing lots of content during those months? For 2 different fighting games?

Y'all underestimate how long it takes to make vidya games.

Capcom needs to come correct this time, there's no going back. Anyway, I wish them luck and hope they finally pass the two million mark.

Speaking of eSports, can't wait for thumbs up to stay in. /sigh

Have you considered that it is a loading screen
On PS4 likely most of it is yeah (so ideally they fix loading times for AE but I don't expect it) but on PC, no. Someone removed the animation on PC and it's a lot more speedy.

I’m actually starting to ask myself how could capcom take two years to release an arcade mode when its basically been there since the beginning of fighting games.

As an owner of Collector’s edition SFV day one, this feels like we were used as early backers of the final game.

This reads like someone not paying attention to anyhthing, dropping in to shitpost, then not paying attention again.

New characters have been rumoured to coincide with AE's release *nudge nudge wink wink*

Does that mean we're getting Gen and Adon too? Honestly that could be pretty sweet throw Sodom, Rose and Sakura in there and you basically have everyone that matters for SF1 - Alpha 2.

Sounds like a member of NeoGAF.
They need to be put on a list.
What!? Don't ever speak of the #2 in such a manner, especially in regards to Rashid's #3 ass.
I'll speak however I darn well please!!

Sakura and Sagat are the only two that have been leaked for Season 3.

What if there was a thread about how MvCI's graphics were bad and I started posting gifs of how good the animations were in SFV to defend Capcom honor? Lol
Context matters. In the "example" you've provided, that wouldn't be defending Capcom's "honor" so much as laughing at how bad MVCI's animations are and what a huge stepdown they are from SFV. Same with soundtrack, art style, etc. It's still shitting on Capcom because they dropped the ball with MVCI. You seem pretty focused on this instead of the actual topic though. Contributes nothing to the thread

I've done it twice now (Base Game + S1 season pass for Steam, Base Game + S1 & S2 passes for PS4) and I still feel I got enough value out of playing it. I won't consider getting the new package unless there is some new content specific to its release though. It's just the way these GOTY editions are for any game, not just SFV.

The update itself (which I haven't actually talked about at all) is really promising - Nadeshiko with the steel chair and Chun Li with Kikosho back is hype for me personally. I'm more looking forward to what's in store for Season 3 personally.

Yeah I really don't mind spending a bit more either, I've played the game a lot since release so I too feel it's been good value. The impression Capcom PR gave at release though was that if you buy early you won't lose out later, but newcomers to AE will get a better deal than early adopters did. I'm not that bothered really but... yeah.

I know you can earn the FM for characters fairly easily in-game, but I only really like to play SFV against other people (mostly locally), grinding the FM just isn't fun. It would be nice if there were higher FM rewards for playing matches online.

The game needs actual defensive options more than anything else.

defensive mechanics that depend on meter (V-Reversal is one, but there could be several others)

An armored (on the way up) neutral jump that costs meter. A fast fall movement option that costs meter. We could sit here all day just coming up with concepts. I firmly believe with more choices as to how to spend the meters (imagine a dozen each (V and Ex)), you'd see far more unique play styles and lots of skilled stuff. You could have some very high risk-high reward systems. For example. You can buff combo damage with a choice that must be made at 100% health. However, if you repeat any combo (its start to finish is repeated), then you'd break both your V and Ex meters for the remainder of the round. So that's a stale combo concept.

Hey, the possibilities are endless. I've thought of some pretty crazy stuff that might not fit well with SFV, but the point is to just remix the gameplay more. You know SFV players can handle it and would welcome the challenge.

Finally! I still had SFV sitting there taking up space on my SSD in the vain hope this day would come. Not such a vain hope after all. Good on you Capcom, but more so to the community for voicing their opinion so loud that they finally had to listen.
