Stranger Things Season 1 DVD/BluRay combo pack - Target Exclusive?

This may be premature because neither Netflix or Target have officially announced it yet. I wonder if they wanted it to just show up on store shelves unannounced like we are back in the 80s?

But, I've been wondering for over a year if this was ever going to get a physical release. I'm sure lots of other people have been wondering as well.

According to leaked photos from some anonymous Target employee it's coming
SuzfBnV.jpg
2 DVDs and 2 BluRays are in the combo pack.

People on other forums got the their local Target to scan the barcode in the picture and it apparently shows up as legit.

here is the supposed rumored price and release date:

October 17th 2017
$24.99
DPCI 058-23-1746

No word if it's an in-store exclusive or if Target.com will have it as well.

Edit:
Sunday's October 15th AD for Target has leaked.

Confirms the $24.99 price and the Oct. 17th release day.

Target is giving Stranger Things more ad space compared to Spider-Man Homecoming.

Holy shit I need this. Going to have to camp out at a target by job before opening. I genuinely didn’t expect these to get blu ray releases.

That's awesome. Love the retro packaging, too. We've been thinking about cancelling our Netflix subscription, so I'd love to have this available whenever I wanted to watch.

25 bucks? I'm buying it for sure.

I remember going to Walmart a couple of weeks ago and they had some collection names Strange Things. At first I thought it was a bluray collection for the show but it turned out to be some shitty movie collection.

Is this the first Netflix original series getting a blu-ray/dvd physical release?

No, they've had Blu-rays for House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Narcos, and the earlier seasons of the Marvel stuff. That being said, they're not even close to the amount of series that Netflix has, to say nothing of the fact that they've yet to release one of their films physically.

Yes and No.

Other Netflix Original Series have got Blu-ray and dvd releases, but they were released by the production partners of those shows, not by Netflix. That was one reasons many people questioned if Stranger Things would ever get released on BR or DVD, because Netflix owns the entire show themselves, and they've never been in the home video business before.

So:

House of Cards - Sony
Orange is the New Black - Lionsgate
All the Marvel stuff - Disney

This would be the first time Netflix themselves are making a physical release and profiting from it.

Chiming in, Arrested Development also got a physical release.

I wonder if it's only the "Special Edition" with the poster that's exclusive to Target, with the normal editions releasing elsewhere? I got my AD S4 DVD at Best Buy but Target almost always has their own "Exclusive Bonus DVD!!!" editions for tons of movies and TV shows.

Either way this is an extremely bad ass DVD set, depending on what (if any) extras it has I'll probably grab it since the one thing Netflix is severely lacking on their Original Series and Original Movies are any form of behind the scenes, director commentary, gag reel, etc typical special feature stuff. Like honestly I'd love to see a behind the scenes of AD S4 showing the writer's room they talked about with all the intertwining plot threads on the walls, or a featurette on how they made the ST Demigorgon.

This is definitely true. Saw the images more then a week back and it also shows up in Target's database.

I find it weird that this release is about a week out and not only can you not preorder it but Target is refusing to say anything about this. They are holding what is likely going to be a very wanted set and merchandise and yet they don't want you to even know it's coming. What a strange move!

Looks great, although pity Netflix doesn't give out UV codes

Makes obvious sense why but still

I've seen stranger things

Target gets a bunch of special editions. They recently got one for the re-release of Lion King and Wonder Woman came with some sort of art book. For this it's probably just the poster and VHS designed box that's exclusive.

Damn, that's some spiffy case design. I haven't bought any Netflix shows on physical but I might get this.

I don't want to get a special edition because when season 2 inevitably has a completely different box art design, they won't look consistent on my shelf.

Grabbed one on my way to work, they had about 30 I think, far more than the special 'Target Only' edition of Homecoming weirdly enough (which I also grabbed).

The quality of the packaging is amazing.

Bought my copy this morning, and I'll also echo that the packaging is incredible. The poster it comes with is also very cool.

I will say I'm disappointed that there are zero special features or extras of any kind of here though. I was hoping for some commentary at the very least. It does play the Thriller trailer before the main menu but with different music.

Target signed an exclusive deal with Netflix so Stranger Things now has a whole endcap at each store with merch on it.

4 episodes per disc seems a bit much, video-quality will likely be on par with the Netflix-stream.

Picked up a copy, it'll fit in nicely with some of my oversized VHS tapes but not quite big box size. Kinda wish they had just gone full big box with this one.
