iOS 11 is a truly magical piece of shit

I updated my 6 and Air 2 on day 1 and haven't had any major problems. Maybe some slowdown here and there, but certainly not any freezes or crashes.

You know it's bad when all my casual user friends are texting me saying "this update is absolute garbage".

Never heard comments on the OS prior to

It's fine on my 6. Have you tried just hard resetting your phone? Taking it to an Apple store?

You are basing your decision this off some random guy you never met, with no knowledge if he is exaggerating or lying?

I think we should wait till all the facts are in before we belive him. After all that's what we should do with rape am I right???

well that escalated quickly..jesus man.

I mean general user impressions for iOS11 on the 6+ is bad. Not just here but a lot of other sites are recommending to wait it out until they fix/optimize it

That sucks.

Anyways, I don't see the need to update since my phone is working fine. Don't need any of the feature from 11.

I just got my new iPhone SE today, it's running 10.3.3, should I not update?

I had the issue with previous iPhones that updates slowed them down if they weren't one of the newer iterations.

Happens on my 6S and 8.

Constant freezing.
Hard locking.
Gotta input a damn Konami Code just to hard reset the device for the 8.
Constant rotation issues.
Message app doesn’t always show the latest message and can’t scroll to see it.

Can’t rhink if anything else at the moment but I wish I hadn’t upgraded. And yes I’m on the latest non-beta firmware.

I am on a 7 with iOS 11.0.2 and have had zero issues with it...

No issues here other than the battery draining in like half the time. What the fuck is going on that takes so much juice?

I've never had so many issues with my 6 as I have with ios 11. Apps constantly freeze up or crash, the podcast app in particular seems to have issues galore, the control panel frequently won't update for podcast controls, etc etc. Really regret updating.

I'm going to be in the minority on this one, but I actually love the way iOS 11 handles the temporary disable of Wi-Fi in the Control Center. It reactivates on its own later when you physically go somewhere else. That's why I'm disabling Wi-Fi in the Control Center anyway - because in the spot I am, the Wi-Fi connection is not working or is not viable for what I need.

In iOS 10 and prior versions, I'd always forget that I disabled Wi-Fi when I was out and about, and it wouldn't be until hours after I got home that I realized that Wi-Fi was off.

For my lifestyle, the way iOS 11 does it is exactly what I want.
You know they could have kept the exact same functionality that you described while keeping the radio completely off.

I have the same phone, same iOS version.

No need to update yet. Alot of people are having issues with 11 so I'd wait until Apple works out the kinks.

If anything, wait for the next update.

My Iphone 6 is a slow mess since updating.

I have an Ipad mini 2 that I'm not updating due to the similar make up.

Can't believe how unintuitive some of the setting change locations are.

Recent events have made me a tad less chill...and I could probably post in the “fuck yours got mine” thread for iOS11 =p
I did not know this...and I’ve used that button all the time and have never noticed a difference. Weird.

I'm using it on the first 9.7" iPad pro. I did have some rotation issues. Worse, the YouTube app seems to consume a lot more battery than it did before.

Apart from that, no problems.

Are there any energy-efficient alternatives to the official app?

iOS in general has just become progressively worse since Jobs passed. Now I would argue that Android is the better OS in nearly every aspect, whereas before I would argue that iOS's walled-garden approach had benefits in terms of stability, intuitiveness, quality of first-party apps, etc. All of which have slowly gone down the drain since Jobs's passing.

Have a 6S and can't say I've run into any of those issues. Battery does seem to drain a bit faster, but that's about it.

For some reason my phone (8) never auto locks. It’s set at 1 minute but if I don’t manually press the lock button it just stays on

None of that has gone downhill by any metric. It being the fastest and most secure phone, generations more so than the best Android, is not just because of hardware.

-Battery Drain
-iMessage app gets stuck on 3rd to last text bubble, and snaps back when trying to scroll down
-Can't hit the very top in Safari to fast scroll up
-A little over 2 weeks ago, I was in mid text to a friend when I switched apps. Every few days or so since then, that text I was going to send them, randomly appears in the "Enter text" field for that contact, even though I've deleted it, and sent numerous other texts since that incident.
-Notifications on lock screen sometimes appear on bottom of the screen
-Hard locks
-Random resets

Fuck this update

The only problem I've had on my iPhone 6 is it seemingly being more proactive about dumping Safari tabs out of memory. Now I'll maybe jump out of Safari into WhatsApp, then into Tweetbot, and then going back into Safari will have to reload the page. It used to take a lot more to get it to do it previously.

Presumably iOS 11 is more memory-hungry but I'm not sure what precisely is doing it.

iOS 11.1 should be along soon anyway.

I had to go to a repair shop today because the touch screen became unresponsive during the weekend. Thankfully dude told me to just factory reset it, so I saved a hundred in a screen replacement. But this started happening only after updating to 11.0.2.

Also the battery is now garbage

Ever since I got iOS11, one part of my screen has been unresponsive to touch. It’s driving me crazy. It definitely wasn’t there before.

Under iOS 11, once every couple of weeks, my iPhone 6 will randomly decide that it will spend the whole day with the touchscreen not responding to touch after an indeterminate amount of time after unlocking it. I have to lock it, wait like 10 seconds, unlock it, and hope I can do whatever I need to do before it stops responding again.

On my town's Facebook group someone asked if anyone was having issues with iOS 11 and let's just say that thread is huge. Tons of complaints about battery life, freezing, slow keyboards, etc.

I have an iPad pro 10.5 and it runs fine.

My iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2 are working just fine. You have newer devices than me, I wonder if some people's installs got corrupted or something.

Downloaded it day 1 on my 6 and I haven’t noticed any issues so I’m not gonna take the chance and DL the newer update. My friends 6 has been running like shit though.

Have had a couple small issues with some apps, but restarting the apps fixed the problems. No real complaints other than that.

iPhone 6S user here.

It was great on iOS 10.

Now with iOS 11, the phone was real bad the first few days. Then, it just has lag when switching screens between apps, but what kills me is the keyboard lag. I pull up Whatsapp and as I want to type something, the keyboard takes a while to register my touches, then it just types it all in at once.

I hate it, and I thought it would get fixed with 11.0.2 but nothing changed.

Very displeased with this update.

I guess I've gotten lucky as I've had no lockups at all on my iPhone 8. I also installed it on my iPhone 6s before my 8 came in and had no problems there either (still ran fast and wasnt draing my battery any more than iOS10 did). Overall I like it better than iOS10 as I think the control center is an improvement.

edit: the only problem I have had is Voice Control keeps popping up when I try to restart what I am listening with the button on the headphones. Then after I close out of the voice control, none of the buttons on the headphones will work (can't change volume or stare music) until I unplug and replug them in.

Are people hotflashing this update? Now I havent seen anything about iOS11 indepth but to hear this many people having issues is interesting.

Obviously you shouldnt have to factory reset for an update but I think Apple may have got sloppy.

My wife and I both went from an iPhone SE that works great on iOS 10 to a phone that is nearly useless on 11. Constant lockup’s. Stuck in landscape mode in apps. Keyboard not opening or not closing. Both of our batteries last like 6 hours of casual use and idle time, used to last a full day with moderate use. We have factory reset and issues persist. Also our Bluetooth constantly turns itself back on. Neither of use Bluetooth and normally leave it disabled. This is ridiculous and we have been talking about just a going back to Android.

Always backup before an update and perform a clean install if you have issues. Everyone’s phone is different and updates sometimes just don’t jive with what was already on the phone for whatever reason. Hence why in threads like this half will have only a few issues and others will have a lot.

I've had a few minor issues with screen rotation and unresponsiveness on my 6 since updating, but I've come to expect weird bullshit from iOS. I've ran into way more issues with my iPhone than I've ever had on Android. I'm pretty sure the battery life has taken a hit too but it's not like I've timed it or anything.

Worst part about 11 is it made the control center a fuck ugly mess.

No issues here. Music widget is weird sometimes I guess but other than that nothing.

^^ I love the new control centre. Lives up to the name more.

I've noticed freezing and slower operation on a 5S, and potentially worse battery life.

Haven't updated to 11.0.2 yet (just starting that...).

I’m getting epic battery life on my iPad Pro after 11.0.2. 16 hours standby and over 6 hour screen on time throughout the day and it’s not even half drained yet. That probably 50% better than on 10.3.3.

The only thing that’s now bothering me is some jittery app opening animation.

The new podcast app is bad. What an awful interface. Might go back to a 3rd party app.

Plus I have four apps I use regularly that aren't working, I should have checked to see if they would first but damn, one I use daily.

It reset the auto-brightness then hid the setting, had to google that. Auto-brightness is the worst.

Don't hate it despite these things, looks sleek I think. Runs a little slow on my 6s tho...
