PlayStation VR Thread 2: Reloaded

So just got my PSVR last week and was primarily waiting for this sale before really grabbing a bunch of stuff. I already have Job Simulator and Thumper, but here's what's in my cart right now:

Tumble VR
Surgeon Simulator
Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes
Star Trek: Bridge Crew
Harmonix Music VR
I Expect You to Die
Statik

Any glaring omissions? Anything that shouldn't be on the list?

is Statik and I Expect You to Die really that good? I was thinking about those as well.

And your missing Farpoint and Arizona Sunshine from what I've heard about them.

Statik is one of the best VR game.
IEYTD is short, but among the top of puzzle game. Game is just brilliantly crafted.

Arizona Sunshine ONLY if you have PS4 Pro.
if you have a standard PS4, forget about it.

How is the retail situation for PSVR titles? I have PSVR Worlds, Rush of Blood, REVII and Robinson, but now I really want a new game to use with my headset.
Digital is ok but I prefer titles with retail version, any suggestions?

Alright, just a quick thought.

Graphic doesn't seem to be Pro enhanced. It's average, not the worst.
Starting area looks pretty hideous but for some reason after getting into mission 1 it looks fine.
Tracking is good, control scheme is pretty good too, surprisingly intuitive.
Sword girl is VERY fun.
Sound, gameplay and everything solid so far.

If I have one complaint, it would be the enemy animation, seems like PS4 limitation so they toned down the enemy animation a lot.

going back in now.

Edit: Alright, 2nd mission is where shit gets real. I love this so much. It's scary as hell with robot jumping into your face.

I've been keeping my eye on the Invisible Hours, so I'll probably bite on that, but argh, a whole VR sale now... lots of different choices.

Double post, but this is so smooth movement but its two moves...how? Whats the control scheme for this game because wtf this looks good.

I find using Head movement as main navigation works well, using Move as main navigation confuses the button a lot.

Right Move controller
- Move button = Select Power
- Square = Select Tower
- X = left camera turn
- O = right camera turn

Left Move controller
- Move button = Move forward
- Square = backward
- X = strafe left
- O = strafe right

I freaking love this game already, a little rough edges on some stuff, might not be the most polished game, but the sword play and gun play is fantastic.
Visual is definitely quite underwhelming if I'm being honest, but as soon as the wave starts, I thought it's fine and got used to it immediately.
I REALLY love the sword play here. You can throw the sword, if there's an armored heavy robot, you can hold it like a katana and knock back enemy.
Also just in case anybody is wondering, I'm watching back my stream now, and no, the game doesn't look as bad as that. It's actually very immersive and I think the darkness helps to minimize some ugly edges of the graphic.
*oh god my stream really did make the game look pretty bad in graphics.

If this is not PS4 Pro enhanced, then I'm quite impressed with the graphic.
But if this Pro enhanced, then it's rather underwhelming. Hopefully they will provide an answer soon.

Lord Error

Insane For Sony
This is a really good sale, I only wish Superhot was on it. I should buy that game anyway, but still a few things in PSVR backlog to finish before it makes sense spending even more. I finally bought Farpoint though. Now just to find a used Aim controller that doesn't cost a fortune.

Stop by Target, they usually have a lot of VR titles in their clearance section.

You can also check out apps like LetGo or OfferUp as a lot of older PSVR users will be getting rid of their titles dirt cheap.

Just dropped $100 on everything I've wanted in VR haha. Probably won't grab another VR title until Inpatient and maybe No Heroes Allowed

It’s really weird to see Tequila Works go from the troubled development of RiME (Sony took away their dev kits and cut publishing deal) to now having this as their year:

April: The Sexy Brutale - Open Critic 83
May: RiME - Open Critic 80
October: The Invisible Hours - ???

Good for them to put in work and launch several good games the same year.

Weren't they bought out by another company that started to fix some things?

I'm having a few tracking issues with Raw Data.. but it's probably my current setup. Will give it another try tonight once it's dark outside. (Also a good PS4 reboot never hurts for VR)

Definitely do a reboot. My tracking is flawless so far 2 hours in, might be one of the best with zero wobble when I hold my katana infront of my face.
But the lower framerate definitely made every animation/hand movement doesn't seem as smooth as games like Dick Wilde.

Looking at the youtube stream, looks like the game does not support PS4 Pro. Resolution is wayyyy too low for that. Hopefully devs add a resolution boost like superhot did

My stream looks god awful for some reason watching it now, it's really not as bad as what it seems like.
But yea, definitely felt like Pro patch is missing.

Edit: God damn it Survios keep liking my tweet but refuse to make a comment about Pro patch.

RAW DATA OUT MOFO!
You can't just type raw data and enter.
You have to type in Raw Data, wait for the image to load, click on it
$40 -> $30 without PS+
Additional 5% for PS+.

8.6gb, icon looks like titanfall...

So how much is it on the US PS+?

Hooray.
Finally a confirmation from Survios. So if the current version is not Pro patch, I would recommend standard PS4 users to get this. it's great.
We're currently working on a Pro patch that will optimize performance and animations for PS Pro players.

Edit: Extra Extra
The pro patch was supposed to be day 1 but it slipped till next week. Sorry!

Thanks for the info on Raw Data, Matt. I thought I recall the PC version maybe having some Co-Op or Multiplayer? And that would be missing or coming later for PSVR? Am I remembering this right and is there any new info on this?

You remember it right. But no new news on it. I would go in expecting no Multiplayer at all.

Devs have said barely anyone plays the MP components on PC.

Thanks, yeah just found the info, sounds like the Campaign Co-Op is pretty popular, or that people enjoy it at least. Maybe the PvP multiplayer mode("Hostile Takeover") is what is not so popular?

I think I recall they had to totally rework the game for it to work on PSVR, and Im guessing the extra horsepower to do co op and MP had to go on the chopping block for the game to run smoothly.

Oh shit, I just tried all 4 characters. My god they all play so differently it's amazing.
Bow guy has this tagging tracking arrow, aside from that it has a pretty solid bow gameplay, nothing too special.

Shotgun/punchy dude, this is something new for PSVR. You have to hold the shotgun two handed, every shot you will have to reload with your second hand, this is amazing. You will have to kind of imagine the gun on your hand unlike holding an Aim, might not feel as good, but reloading with second hand is really fun.

Katana girl is by far the most fun for me, you have to really swing it, it doesn't register any damage if you are just touching the enemy.

And gun dude is the generic dual pistol guy, still fun because you begin with one gun, and you have to reload with your second hand, pick up ammo etc. We haven't seen reload like these since London Heist.

Here's a little testing I did for Katana swinging, since many people worried about the game being "instant kill enemy upon touching".

Also I would like to stress that the game doesn't look as bad as this footage.

I came in looking to get Raw Data only to realize there are so many VR games I don't have but want to get.

So far I'm looking at
  • Raw Data
  • Arizona Sunshine
  • Sparc
  • Statik
  • Ancient Amuletor

The only problem is I don't want to spend more than $45 since Mario Odyssey and Wolfenstein come out this month too. I don't have a Pro so that may impact my choices a bit too

The struggle.

There's some great deals in the anniversary sale... Dexed for $2.49, RE7 Banned Footage 1 and 2 for 30% off each, and Chess Ultra for $9. SOLD!

I'm kind of miffed that Fruit Ninja VR still isn't on sale though. It's a fraction of the game the mobile versions (for a few dollars) are, and yet it's $15.

Dude I'm going to go broke tonight... So many vr games on sale!!!! I gotta pick up raw data too!

How is the online community for Sparc? Is it already dead?

So I'm trying to play Raw Data... And I can't? I calibrate my height. Go to the only option for the tutorial available, my character dies for some reason comes back and the controller is telling me to push x or o. I push them but it won't ever let me do anything but that...

Help? Anybody? Bueller?

Man... Matt’s impressions of Raw Data has me more than curious, but The Invisible Hours is the game I’m really considering. My wife has been itching for something new to play, and she loves mystery/crime-solving/adventure style games.

Has anyone played Invisible yet? Impressions?

My husband picked up Starblood arena on sale a few weeks ago and I have never been able to get the game to start even in single player.

Broken game? I did really enjoy the character select screen, looks great!

I enjoy VR experiences most and I see Monkey King is on sale, worth $6?

Looking through YouTube it's hard to tell which videos are in 3d and not just 360 videos, anyone know of a good site that may aggregate good 3d experiences to watch in a PsVR headset?

Are your move controllers fine in other games? Make sure you have two.

It wasn't this game, but I remember someone recommending to not have a DS4 connected when using Moves, as some games auto assume DS4 is being used.

Why are all VR youtube channels so poor. Stop with the tacky or over the top BS.

I can think of three channels that are just a shade of being full Gilbert Gottfried levels of annoying and most others seem to style themselves on that pewdie pie arsehole or look like rejects from children's programs.

I like PSVR Without Parole. They're enthusiastic about PSVR, but realistic in their expectations. They can also highlight tracking issues, but don't write off a game if it's only minor/sporadic.

The new Pro patch for Solus Project make it a must-have IMO. If survival exploration is your thing, it's got sharp graphics, move controls with free movement (which work surprisingly well after you get the hang of it), all in a huge open world, and it's only twenty dollars. Highly recommended.
