It's not just the visuals, the sounds are spectacular too.
Absolutely, it's not all about having bombastic sounds like you have a stereo jukebox right in your ear or that every car has a super turbo engine...

It's about the nuances of the sound, hearing the tire streaks, hearing the muffler discharge, hearing the tires go up and over a curb, hear the tires lose traction on gravel or simulate proper sounds on other surfaces, like drifting or sliding in rally...Hearing the downshifts and upshifts whilst you drive, the decompression/compression in those changes.....I think, this is when you have great sound...Of course, there is also roaring your engine to full blast before the green light at the start of the race, but in capturing sound, there's much more to it than having an obnoxious engine roar over everything else.............

Just provide us sound samples from a driving game which sounds above this during replay please.

How's the sound design when you're racing? Cause that's when you need it the most... Not when you sit the controller down to watch what you just did.

Such a weird request.

Yeah, I don't get why replays are the most important thing in a racing game all of a sudden.

As for which games sound better? All of them. Yes, all of them.

Only Forza and pCARS2 can be directly compared to that clip as they're the only ones with the new NSX to test, but seriously, just take a listen to Automobilista, RaceRoom, Assetto Corsa, iRacing, pCARS2, or Forza. GTS has made improvements over past GTs in sound for sure, but it's still the bottom of the barrel for this generation.

It's wild. Gts is still playing catch up but listen to how great it is when you're not playing.

Because replays do have sound too, it is that simple.

Because the sound of the car matters when you're driving because that's when you need to listen to know how and when to react to different situations in a race.

Saw this in the Forza 7 thread, but looks crazy. Makes you think about a game needing to stream assets at this speed: https://youtu.be/GzzaJlkH6XU?t=1m47s
Whoever brought up trees can't make me unsee the 2D trees in Forza 7, I guess it's par for this course......in particular...

In any case, you know that GT will have F1 cars and traditionally even faster cars than those, in some of the vision and concept cars???......So beaming at high speeds is something the other racers have at the same refresh.....even faster cars at that in certain cases......

Sounds pretty accurate to me, far more realistic than the "let's make every car sound like a V8" in forza.
I have a V8 09 vette and it's never as loud as in games even if I'm riding in another car parallel to mine

Even if I force it to use all cylinders too it's loud but not throaty in the same way

Another fine example of "I can't accept a single positive thing about this game" from thelastword.

Would look good if it wasn't a generation behind GTS, now all I see is Xbox 360 graphics.

I heard you'll even be able to hit ludicrous speed in GTS.

You have never seen Forza 7 then if you are saying stuff like that. Both game looks great, both games do things that the other one doesn't but to call it a generation behind GTS really says that you are full of shit.

He was being sarcastic

It is hard to tell as of late. If so, I do apologize.

I just got my replacement PRO and I did not realize that the demo for GTS was a timed demo, I was gutted that I did not get to try it out since my old pro died on me well before the demo came out.

In the videos I have seen, I have not seen a field of more than 20 cars. Is that the max number of cars you can have on the track?

I saved this replay yesterday before the end of the beta testings. There was a guy in this thread pointing that GTS had AWFUL problems with the DOF, and posted some images to prove his point. And, yeah, the pics weren't flattering, but I was asking myself why I had not noticed that. Maybe it was a bug that happened with him and not with me, who knows...

Then, watching my own replay I found the """PROBLEM""" right at the beginning of the video, at the 12th second.

Didn't noticed? Well, you have to pause to see it. This is how ridiculous the cherry picking can go in this thread.

Yeah if you look at my pictures you'll notice the last two are actually a couple seconds apart, which you can tell by the positioning of the cars, it's the same blurry cars floating around. lol

Nice deflecto-post though.

FI'm "cherry picking" by showing three shots, all from the same footage mind you. The other guy tells me I faked the shots and then I'm apparently using the wrong build? Way to overreact and make up lies to lob your post though, I guess you've been dwelling on this for days now. Show me where I said it had AWFUL problems with DOF, I'll wait.

I seen 30 in a video I didn't play that race.

I'm so glad I actually saved this footage and now I've uploaded it.

Just for you: https://twitter.com/headspawn/status/919412131354771456

There's quite a few graphical glitches I'm seeing from time to time I don't see mentioned here.
-First picture I took is from about 0:44
-Second picture is from about 0:49-50
-Third shot is from about 0:50-0:51 ish.

I guess I could've included the shot where it happened at 0:33 and again at 0:48 and again at 0:55 and again at 1:02-1:03.

Didn't notice it?

Don't mind the blurry asf shareplay footage, I didn't realize it was going to come out that lo-res since it's the first time I've ever used shareplay... but it's plenty fine to get this point across because you can't miss it.

Now tell me how I was cherry picking, please. Literally the second race I played of the demo, recorded it. I have other weird glitches in the first race that I recorded the replay footage of as well, but I'll probably get grief for that as well like it's my fault or something, lol.

You're way too upset about that post above you replied twice. I think the point he was making is that this is just something that happens for a few seconds & that you wouldn't really notice it if you wasn't looking for it or pausing the game. I don't think he was attacking you with the post.

He absolutely was, he even made up bs that I didn't say to amp up his post. Another poster says I was faking the shots and/or using an old build. Come on now, lol.

I'm not upset, I just so happened to realize I actually still had the footage recorded and figured I'd clear my name.

It is a tad snarky I'll admit, but I'm not a fan of people attacking credibility for no good reason. Tell me though, while it may randomly occur, do you feel like I cherry picked it from the footage provided? I feel like it was on full display in moments I took the screenshots.

The bolded is this entire fucking thread's purpose at this point.

Calling someone out for cherry picking is the very definition of attacking someone in graphics threads. It implies a bias or agenda.

It's a graphical glitch, that in a hyper realistic game stands out even more. Calling it cherry picking or downplaying it, is defensive af.

What I was saying is that I don't think he was attacking the person that made the post but more of him realizing that it was something that only happened a few seconds in the replays.

No need to apologize, I should have added a /s at the end. I think both games look great, with both having strengths. The "another level" or "generational leap" talk is all hyperbolic, so I definitely agree with you.

No I think you seen something strange & pointed it out but in the chaos that is this thread someone seen your post & the strange images & maybe thought that you was saying that this was a normal thing with the game & wondered why he/she never seen it but when he/she did come across it & seen that it was something that happens for like a second in the replay it made him/her point out that it was just a small thing that happened for a really short time in the replay.

That's the way I seen it.

Why aren't people talking more about Project Cars 2 here? Is it because there is no console war going on there?

Plug in a steering wheel and look at the general racing experience, the depth of the customisation is the key, can you change the level of camera shake, remove the in-game steering wheel, modify the high speed interior/exterior vibrations in the cockpit, play on triple screens, add head/camera turn in corners, change the FOV, etc?
Personally I'd say that the all forgotten Project Cars 2 is the one that sets the bar this time.

First game was a frustrating experience on PS4, gave me headaches with poor implementation of dualshock4 handling/gameplay. Is it better in the sequel?
