NoA just posted the launch trailer for the game today, and it dropped a nice bombshell at the end of it (thanks to kuroneko0509!):

oh btw

there no more complain about where jp audio I guess

Also, there's some details for the DLC in terms of the raw content that each of them will have:

-three new playable characters per pack
-three new History scenarios per pack
-new weapons and costumes
-new support conversations relating to the new characters

Hallelujah! Still a bit paranoid since NoA clearly said they would have JP audio and NoE said English only, but I see no logical reason Europe wouldn't get it too.

Yes, this is good!

I'd be shocked, too, but as far as anyone can tell, the western version is its own universal SKU, so if worse came to worst, one would think that making a US account to download it.

If it's a different version of the game, it won't be compatible.

Xenoblade 2 next?

Wonder how big the download is. The main game is 13GB, implying it ships on a 16GB card.

As for SKUs, best way to check is either:

-Buy one version of the game digitally, then change Nintendo account region, log back in to eShop and see if same game shows up as purchased on the different region's eShop

-Check the SKU code at the back of the box. If it ends in "A", that's the first SKU to exist (so Japan in this case). If the North American and European versions end in "B" then they are the same SKU.

glad to see them announcing the Japanese voices early. Would have been nice to have that for BotW so that I wouldn't have bought the Japanese release.

Tha's great news. The English voice acting I've heard has been quite bad.

Are the history scenarios the Adventure mode of FE:W? If so that's a crap ton of content in each pack.

I don’t mind the English voice acting, but more options are never a bad thing. Good call, Nintendo & KT.

I'll still play with English because Musou games are a little too busy for me to focus on reading text on the side of the screen during battles, but it's great they're giving the option.

Great news! This was blocking my purchase as well.
People should have never had to ask for this in the first place...

Xenoblade 2 next now please. Seriously tiring how it happens for most Nintendo games with voice acting...
Edit: at least X2 doesn't need it as much though.

It’s really not absurd to not include Japanese voices in a territory that doesn’t speak Japanese. It’s nice to have options but people have to get over this idea that it’s appalling to have dubbed voices.

This version of the game will be sold to non-english speaking countries too. Between two languages that aren't my native one, I prefer the original one that had actual direction from the original developers.

so nothing specific for lucina/corrin/marth/ etc amiibo?

Yeah, the other FE Amiibo figures just do a random weapon drop of at least a 3-star rating, with a lesser chance to get ones of higher rank than that. Think of that as just five more chances a day to get something decent on top of running missions that can drop the same kind of equipment.

EDIT: Here's a little bit more detailed information:

Initial scan of Chrom amiibo gives you Imitation of Chrom's Sword while initial scan of Tiki amiibo gives you Tiki's Tear.

The other Fire Emblem amiibo according to some random Japanese wiki.

- 50% chance to get ★3 weapon
- 35% chance to get ★4 weapon
- 15% chance to get ★5 weapon

You need to unlock the higher tier weapons in-game before you are able to get the weapons from the Fire Emblem amiibo.

All other amiibo will give you weapons (any ★ and lower rate than the FE amiibo), common/uncommon/rare materials or 500/5000/50000 gold.

So here's the thing I'm trying to figure out: The trailer said that each pack will contain Three New Playable Heroes.

The question is... Who will those nine be? Will it be a case where the nine characters will come from the respective games of Fates, Shadow Dragon and Awakening? Or will we get a nice wild card thrown into the mix in order to bring some fan favorites from other games?

Anyone want to take potshots at who we'll see?

Seems likely that we could say Tharja could take up one of the Awakening slots, while Azura would take a Fates slot. It might seem likely that an older Tiki could take an Awakening slot too.

As for the rest... it is a bit harder to say without throwing out names and being completely wrong. Perhaps Henry or Lon'qu would take the last Awakening slot but I can't think of any others due to my lack of "FE" know how. Perhaps in the Shadow Dragons pack, they might pull a fast one and add in those other characters we want to see (Ike, Roy, Hector).

For now though, I'm just going to be patiently waiting for Friday to hit so that I can get this game in my hands. ^_^

When the DLC was announced in the west, NoA did mention that "most of the content" would be based on the theme of that pack, which does offer up some wiggle room if there are going to be surprise characters. Of course, it could just as well mean that the weapons of those characters will be available to use, so don't be too surprised if it leads to something like Lisse running around with Armads.

Well the trailer did mention the thing for the weapons too.

Each Pack Will Contain:
Three new playable characters
Three new History Scenarios
New weapons and costumes
New support conversations

As such, I wouldn't be shocked at all if there are cases where some characters will either dress up and use weapons of other FE characters who didn't make the cut.

Not a biggie for me, but MAN is the English voices poor:

"You two must keep going."
"NO I'M COMING WITH YOU!"

*over the top scream*

"MOTHER NO!"
"MOTHER NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

AKA, the E3 trailer. LOL

I bet Fates and Awakening fill their 3 characters' slots on their own, while Shadow Dragon pulls at least one character from elsewhere in the franchise. If they hadn't outright denied Ike and Roy I'd think of those two (then again it does make more sense to save them for a proper sequel, so they can actually feature in the main campaign meaningfully). Maybe from the SNES games?

It’s really not absurd to not include Japanese voices in a territory that doesn’t speak Japanese. It’s nice to have options but people have to get over this idea that it’s appalling to have dubbed voices.

That logic is stupid.
My country doesn't speak english ( i'm french ) so i have to stick with english voices when i prefer japanese ? Having options should be a given. people should get over this idea that english need to be the default for japaneses games outside of japan. Both voice packs is always the right answer

I think that's quite possible. Something along the lines of an Eliwood costume for Xander, or Reinhardt for Leo; the kind of stuff that doesn't require any drastic reworkings of a character to have it make sense.

FWIW, though, there are a couple of classes that currently have no playable characters yet, though they haven't been super subtle about one of them being taken care in the Fates pack.

-infantry spear (can you guess who?)
-armored units of any kind
-dagger/knife units

You can add a warrior class to the list too.

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own

I agree that those lines in particular were done poorly, but if you think the japanese version isnt going to have over the top screams you got another thing coming

I'm actually very impressed with this trailer, as it kind of allayed fears about the DLC, and now we know when they're coming out, and what's coming with each, it's very freshing actually.

I believe the 3 initial DLC packs will only have Fates, Awakening and Shadow Dragon characters.

Azura, Felicia and Jakob for Fates. Tharja, Severa and Inigo for Awakening. Minerva, Camus and Draug for Shadow Dragon. These are my bets.
