and most of them being japanese sales
your point?
I mean, yes? The series has been in decline for a while now. No thanks to Vesperias exclusivity. The PS3 Tales did much better than Vesperia despite them being on a less popular platform in NA and not being as good.
It's an uphill battle that's been getting steeper the longer Xbox has been in the marketplace.
Xbox doesn't sell over there cause it's well-established it doesn't have a place, and it's a self-fulfilling prophecy of "Xbox can't sell cause MS needs more japanese games" > "MS management says no to subsidies/covering costs of porting games/moneyhats to Xbox because the audience isn't large enough" > "Xbox can't sell cause..."
That would have been a really great example of a self fulfilling prophecy if there were not countless examples of fantastic Japanese games, exclusive and otherwise on both the original Xbox and the 360.

More dead simple reasoning turned into rockets science . Its not because MS isn't nice or they policies are terrible even if that is truly the case . They for some reason just do not want to simply say not enough Xboxs sold in Japan so its not worth it to make games for the console . That's all it is cause if 150m console were in the wild they would be making games for it no matter what the issues are .
Tales of Graces F did worse than Vesperia outside of Japan and Tales of Xillia 2 probably did too. From a discussion earlier this year.
Zestiria and Berseria are probably below 270k on Playstation as well, but they got a massive boost from Steam.
Where's FF12/WoFF on XB1?
Where's KH2.8/KH1.5+2.5 on XB1?
Where's DQXI on XB1?
The only reason the system got FFXV and KH3 was because Square Enix had no idea if the system was going to be a success or not back then.
"Japan's not very supportive of Xbox Games"
They are not really supportive of the xbox one in general.
Square Enix are Sony fanboys obv. dont expect FFXII X, KH, or VII on the Switch either
First of all, I'm not sure what the disagreement here is.
Second, the post you linked shows both NPD data and data outside US. I've been talking about NPD as it's basically Xbox Ones only good market.
I've never understood why they have to release games on disc for these niche Japanese titles, just put them up on the store, test the water.
I want to try [Star Ocean 4 PS4] but no physical no buy.
But... but Phillip's trip to Japan!
The audience for niche Japanese games wants physical releases as well. In many cases, that is the difference between a purchase and a lost sale. Localization companies understand this, which is why even small games from Atlus and XSEED and NISA get physical releases more often than not.Fuck releasing physical copies of games on Xbox.
Just release them digitally... Come on small Japanese devs.
Actually come on all devs...
Stop putting out physical games.
It's 2017. Embrace the present (the present is digital... Anyone telling you otherwise is stuck in the past).
The west isn't just the US and it was proclaimed that Vesperia bombed "in the west" and you backed that assertion up. Don't try to deflect.
We weren't even talking about the Xbox One.
No? Vesperia sold like 30k in NPD. Xillia was >100k.
Yaay! I'll take it along with my Japanese games [hugs and kisses his Japanese PS4 games]Congrats! You're the one millionth person to say this exact thing. You win shame.
Yes. I'm deflecting from my initial reply to you where I agree that they've been on the decline since Vesperia...

Also, if you want to give up most of your rights as a consumer by buying all digital, go right on ahead, but don't expect everyone to follow in your foot steps.
Vesperia did better than the PS2 Tales game though. You can't keep blaming MS/Xbox.
Okay. So Tales has been on a decline since Vesperia...
SE are Sony fanboys, which is why they made several Nintendo exclusive games last gen and theyre already working on a new one, right?
Sounds like, from some interviews with the folk from Limited Run Games, that it is out of MS' hands somewhat. That they don't own enough of the manufacturing to be able to decide print minimums in all cases.
It does, again from LRG statements, sound like it is something MS is trying to get changed though.
Your statement is very cynical.
Who is to say if there is an audience or not for niche Japanese game (or AAA Japanese games) on Xbox or not digitally?
AFAIK, putting out a digital copy of your SKU is cheaper and far less risky than printing a ton of discs that won't sell.
Is there cost involved supporting another platform? Sure. But the risks are lower and the chances of increased revenue are greatly improved.
Specifically, right now on Xbox is a dearth of quality Japanese games compared to PS4.
So if you're NIS or Falcom, why not take the plunge and test the Xbox digital waters? You'd be fighting less Japanese competition, because on Xbox, there basically isn't any. It's free market share.
As to giving up rights as a consumer...tell me...
how many Steam games do you own?
So which Tales game haven't bombed in the west by "normal standards"?
Yaay! I'll take it along with my Japanese games [hugs and kisses his Japanese PS4 games]
Okay. Do you even understand what I'm saying. Like are you just projecting stuff into my posts that I'm not saying? Have I claimed that games since Vesperia haven't bombed? Did I not clearly say that they've been in decline for a while now?
Why is Falcom even chiming in. they're so small that they wouldn't support the other big Japanese company. what they say don't mean shit
Okay and what about the pre-Vesperia games which sold less?
Fuck releasing physical copies of games on Xbox.

Because these are not the types of japanese games Microsoft is not looking for maybe?

Look at the splits these games sell. And stop.This. They got support from SE, Bamco, Konami, Sega, KT, Fromsoft and Capcom. I think fans miss nothing much with NIS or Falcom.
And things might change since Spencer now VP of MS.
Like gal gun?Because these are not the types of japanese games Microsoft is not looking for maybe?
