Owens matches are amazing when they have some kind of emotion/professional core. Outside of that they're just movez matches which is why the matches with Cena after his debut where he had to lose because Cena lol weren't anything special.

There's a reason this image or some variation of it still gets play these days.
This actually goes into some of the details I uncovered when I researched it over a decade ago. Mainly that the original Smackdown on PSX is based off of a cutdown version of a decent Japanese wrestling game and that THQ abandoned the best game YUKES ever made, Day of Reckoning 2, for the shitty Smackdown engine when they merged everything into one multiplatform title. They obviously should have kept the name and put it out on all consoles but used the DoR engine.
Oh no doubt you'll see way more than that. Angle won't stop until his heart stops beating, and even then I'm sure he'll manage an Angle Slam from beyond somehow

New games take time to create, develop, test, and complete.
I don't know if any developer could create an entire game the size and scope of a 2K WWE game in less than one year's time.

2K does a pretty damn good job with NBA 2K. They actually feel different between games.
And when its a new generation its ever a bigger change. Which is something WWE 2K doesnt do. NBA 2K doesnt look or feel like a PS2 game, which is something WWE 2K does.

It's pretty obvious that Angle was probably gonna come back at Survivor Series and had already been training/ was cleared to compete so when literally one third of their big angle went down with something that he couldn't work through they put him in. It's not the the ideal build but what are you gonna do 3 days before the show? (Literally saw people in the OT thread upset about Angle and saying that they should have put in, and I shit you not, Jason Jordan... What?!? ) Like this wasn't just some babyface trio, it was the freaking Shield... everything was built to that, this was a big deal and you can't just replace Reigns with any odd baby face it needed to be something big.
And we all knew Angle was gonna wrestle again at some point.
