Fox News never cared about ethics so why start now?
I don't understand how anyone can seriously challenge Fox's ethics as being below the rest of the garbage heap that is the MSM. How about CNN's white house correspondent? Guy is assigned to the white house but still asks questions such as why the republicans can't pass bills when they have majority control. It is a fake question designed to make the Republicans look bad and nothing more, because over ruling a filibusterer takes 60 votes. That means the chief correspondent is either a DNC hack or somehow assigned the role of chief white house correspondent without understanding the filibuster. Yet Fox is the one people claim is fake or unethical.

Fox news is the closest thing we'll have to state sponsored tv media under a dictatorship.

First of all, there is no dictatorship and Fox is not even close to state sponsored media. Second, you must be kidding if you think the left leaning media is less in bed with politicians than Fox.

Yep its unique there. msnbc and cnn aren't unique since they both are both the propaganda arm of the Democratic party.

Until a democratic president puts a representative of one of those news stations on speaker phone during meetings, they aren't even close to the same http://www.businessinsider.com/trum...host-lou-dobbs-at-white-house-meetings-2018-4

Please, yes MSNBC is left leaning, CNN is less so as they try to straddle the divide by having some republican talking heads on there that usually end up shitting the bed. But to put them on the same level as Fox is misleading at best.

Robert Mueller: Establishment Media Are Pushing Fake Trump-Russia Claims

A spokesperson for the office of special counsel Robert Mueller has released a warning about the media’s “many” fake news reports regarding the investigation into President Trump and Russian collusion, reports the Washington Times.

“What I have been telling all reporters is that many stories about our investigation have been inaccurate,” the Mueller spokesperson said. “Be very cautious about any source that claims to have knowledge about our investigation and dig deep into what they claim before reporting on it. If another outlet reports something, don’t run with it unless you have your own sourcing to back it up.”

It's actually worse. I don't remember a President of any country stopping a meeting (several meetings) to call a Fox News host for an opinion on important matters. Trump is an idiot.

You do know dobbs isn't a fox news host right? he is a fox business host.

Trump is getting impeached. He basically killed himself, and is going to be blamed for the mid-term massacre.
First post is literally somebody screaming for impeachment, lol.

Trump isn't going anywhere, and you can take that to the bank. If there really was evidence that compromised his presidency, it would already be out there, in my opinion.

You hear alot about the mainstream media's left-wing bias but in all honesty MSM's bias is towards sensationalism and the establishment. It's why they treated Bernie so poorly, its why they attacked Keith Ellison when he wanted to be head of the DNC, despite both of them being actual left wing politicians.

There isn't really a counter balance to Fox News on the tv, maybe MSNBC, but its so bad at its job that it barely counts.

Trump may not go anywhere, but we all know he won't be winning that second term....

care to explain your reasoning behind categorizing politicians/everybody like that?

Trump is getting ready to fire Mueller (possibly). Supposedly a Pittsburgh police dept has received a memo about preparing for riots in wake of an upcoming Mueller fire.

I saw that, what info did the police dept. receive to anticipate this?

" Pittsburgh Bureau of Police receives information daily that we evaluate and prepare for if the event should occur. Events can include anything from extreme weather to potential demonstrations.

I’m sorry, but what is wrong with you?
He said Trump was possibly preparing to fire Mueller so the department is preparing just in case. It’s literally a summary of what is in the article. Are you really that insecure that someone merely regurgitating an article triggers you into such a knee-jerk reaction? Did you even READ the link you posted? Or did you just pick random quotes from it that make you feel better?

I reported your post for being unnecessarily hostile towards a user for merely posting information.

This teamsport mentality and refusal to discuss mere facts without partisan hyperbole is so toxic and has got to stop.

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...o-tell-trump-he-s-not-target-in-mueller-probe

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein told President Donald Trump last week that he isn’t a target of any part of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation, according to two people familiar with the matter.

Rosenstein, who brought up the Mueller probe himself, offered the assurance during a meeting with Trump at the White House last Thursday, a development that helped tamp down the president’s desire to remove Rosenstein or Mueller, the people said.

After the meeting, Trump told some of his closest advisers that it’s not the right time to remove either man since he’s not a target of the probe. One person said Trump doesn’t want to take any action that would drag out the investigation.

So he’s literally admitting that he would commit obstruction of justice?

Rosenstein is buying time by telling the President that hes not the target when all indications are that he is. Its clear that it worked.

Well, well, well. Comeys memos were released. Kinda unbelievable they sat on those all this time. They are exhibit after exhibit after exhibit as to how even the obstruction claims are a myth. Comey criticized Trump to his face regarding a Russia related comment. He discouraged trumps request to actually investigate Russian hooker stories. He also refused multiple requests to reveal information publicly from his boss who happens to have the power to declassify anything he wants, and who was expressing that the public needed information to counter bullshit stories. And my god he was just creepy and unpleasant. Trump invited his whole family to dinner and the guy ignored him. Told Trump he wasn’t investigating him and took detailed notes akin to investigatory notes. And Trump did bring up things he was not pleased with in other ways. Cliff notes version is trumps prior claims just went from being misconstrued to perfectly logical based on comeys memos.

Time to shut this investigation down. Based on coordinated false smear campaign. The president seems on the verge of peace with nk. Economy doing well and less taxes for most workers. Let him do his job.

lol.
I get, similar to Bill Clinton, thinking that as long as someone does their job you don’t give a fuck. Depending on your political/social ideology he’s doing his job the way you like it. But this shit here? confuses the fuck outta me. Like how do we have political fanboys? That’s probably the scariest thing about this whole situation, how much a large amount American public generally wants a cult of personality. Its like “Wild Wild Country” and the republic will fall when someone is able to get into office to properly abuse these this type of disconnect.

Something something economic and social anxiety.

It's a culture built off of the shit that's seen on TV. People see what they want to see, and they don't want their choice and the horse they backed to be one that haunts them. We will see a lot of people who claim they never voted for Trump soon enough.

Also Republicans cannot be critical of their own party for some reason. They must think of it like a team that they are a part of, and they feel bad if their team is doing something awful. Then again, the same people are also hyper critical of actual sports teams, so who knows.

I think you’re trying to rationalize your feelings by assuming I must be scared or anxious or something. Not at all though. I’m just happy to pay less taxes, see a booming economy, and possible peace with a country that has been acting in a threatening manner and could destabilize the world. And sorry but the whole investigation into him is stupid. He fired Comey legitimately after reading Comeys own memos.

Not haunted in any respect. Actually happy with the way things are going right now. If my primary concern was a social agenda maybe I’d be pissed. Don’t know, don’t care. Too old and too much going on in life to buy into the hysteria. Sky’s not falling, and is actually looking pretty bright.

Nah just an observation. I could not care less about if you're scared or not.

I'm just saying you're painting this picture in a scene that justifies your choices and put yourself in a better light for doing so.

You haven't paid any taxes under his plan yet.

The economy was already booming when he got into office.

He had nothing to do with NK. Unless you think a twitter beef changes a dictators mind.

And there's absolutely zero chance that Trump read Comeys memos.

You forget Trump is doing great things for the left, how they are winning seats left and right and it's only going to get better from here. He was never really a real conservative but is having a negative impact on them. Look at how many GOP congress peeps are retiring, resigning, etc.

I might be older than that.. I remember this literal play-by-play in 1998

http://www.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/1998/08/24/poll/

Clinton's legacy
Most Americans think that Clinton will be a success, not a failure, in his remaining time in office, but 71 percent think that he will mostly be remembered as president for his involvement in personal scandal, not his accomplishments.
Fifty-seven percent say that he betrayed the public trust in the Lewinsky matter, but an equal number say that his personal life doesn't matter as long as he does a good job of running the country.
And Americans are indeed satisfied with the way things are going in the United States. Sixty-three percent feel that way; that's comparable to how the public felt after the Persian Gulf War and at the height of the Reagan-era economic boom in 1986.

That satisfaction may be why 56 percent say that they are glad Clinton is president. Clinton would also beat Bob Dole by ten points, 46 percent to 36 percent, among registered voters if the 1996 election were rerun today.

It's like looking in a crazy mirror.

This should be required reading for anyone remotely interested in this.
https://www.nytimes.com/1998/12/20/...e-faces-senate-trial-2d-history-vows-job.html
http://tech.mit.edu/V119/N6/schnee.6c.html

Bonus round: Guess who this sentence is referencing?

****** but suddenly lost his high popularity when a recession appeared, allowing ****** to take his place. ******* has presided over a long stretch of continuous economic growth, combining low inflation with low unemployment an unusual and wonderful situation for the country and no scandal can hurt him.

You know what they say, those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it.

Read through Comey's notes. About 15 pages. It's not what I thought, but very interesting to read.

Yeah. I don't think there was much of a briefing on how government works with Trump. He didn't think much of Flynn because of a missed call(which seems like a dumb thing not to tell the President and even interrupt him in conversation with UK PM about it. I do think the memos being leaked to a civilian is going to cause Comey some trouble. Doesn't he start out classifying it as secret and he typed it on his FBI laptop. I know you can't transfer materials to a non cleared individual. It may be a timing thing where it wasn't classified when he leaked them. I don't know.

lol I thought I went to a lot of meetings. The government sounds fun.

From my understanding, Comey shared some notes which were not classified. The notes released today were ok'ed by the department of justice with some information removed.
From all angles it looks like he's got his loose ends tied up. Comey leaked enough to get public interest in his notes, but not classified information. Then the public wanted a public release of the notes with the DoJ gave after scrubbing.

Why did Comey want reporters jailed?

From Comey memo

I then
explained why leaks purporting to be about FBI intelligence operations were also
terrible and a serious violation of the law. l explained that the FBI gathers
intel to equip the President to main-.- decisions. and I if I run
around telling the press what we do. That ability will be compromised. I said I was
eager to find leakers and would like to nail one to the door as a message. I said
something-about it being difficult and he replied that we need to go after the
reporters and referred to the fact that 10 or 15 years ago we put them in jail to find
out what they know and it worked. He mentioned Judy Miller by name. l explained
that I was a fan of pursuing leaks aggressively but that going after reporters was
tricky, for legal reasons and because courts tend to approach it conservatively. He
replied by telling me to talk to "Sessions" and see what we can do about being more
aggressive. I told him I would speak to the Attorney General.
...
The President then wrapped up our conversation by returning to the issue of finding leakers.
I said something about the value of putting a head on a pike as a message.
He replied by saying it may involve putting reporters in jail. "They spend a couple
days in jail, make a new friend, and they are ready to talk." I laughed as walked to
the door Roince Priohus had opened.

Bumping this thread simply because its title has aged so, so well:

Ty Cobb to resign from Trump's legal team
But Cobb was perhaps most famous for his repeated erroneous predictions that Mueller’s investigation would soon conclude. “By Thanksgiving,” he said in August. By the end of the year, he said in November. “Shortly after the first of the year,” he said in December. “In 4-6 weeks,” he said this January.

He was wrong every time. No end to the investigation is currently within sight.
