Team17 Announces Post-Apocalyptic RPG Broken Roads
Team17 is getting a headstart for gamescom week with the announcement of a new post-apocalyptic game from Drop Bear Bytes called Broken Roads. Set in Western Australia, Broken Roads is a turn-based role-playing game with a big emphasis on narrative. Inspired by classic single-player RPGs, Drop Bear Bytes aims to blend traditional gameplay with original mechanics.
Speaking of which, Broken Roads features a Moral Compass system. At the start of the game, you will be asked a series of moral quandaries that will determine where you start on that compass. This moral system has four philosophical paths: Humanist, Utilitarian, Machiavellian, and Nihilist. As you explore the wasteland you decide which way your Moral Compass swings by your actions. This will have an impact on both story and gameplay as the game progresses.
The game also boasts hand-drawn visuals to bring real-world locations from Western Australia to life in the post-apocalypse. And to ground the sound further into the game's narrative, the score is uniquely composed with instruments crafted from everyday objects.
Broken Roads is set to release in 2022 for consoles and PC via Steam. You can wishlist the game now on Steam. This is just the start of gamescom 2021. We will be live on Twitch tomorrow for gamescom Opening Night Live and as always we will have coverage of some of the exciting titles coming out of gamescom throughout the event.

Born of a love for traditional computer role-playing, Broken Roads provides a rich, engaging narrative in which players make their way across a desolated future Australia. Blending together traditional and all-new role-playing elements on top of a classless system offering nearly unlimited character development options, Broken Roads presents players with an original morality system: the Moral Compass. This novel design sees dialogue options and questing decisions influence, and be influenced by, a character's philosophical leaning.
