Its 100% an engine issue. I'm sure we could get at least less loading screens on another engine.
Having said that, and i know certain people want to act like the game looks bad graphically but man some of those interiors look gorgeous and very detailed, so maybe a small loading screen was needed, or at least on this engine anyway.
The well looks awesome to me. So do the cities like neon etc

Why are there no actual books? Just a few words here and there. Far cry from Skyrim's content. I hope ES6 brings back books.

i don't think i've ever played a game that makes me want to play so many other games instead.

downloaded No Man's Sky again and considering going back to Fallout 4 lol. I know i missed a lot of content in FO4. I always meant to go back to it but never did.
This made me wanna go back and start a new game of Cyberpunk. I'm playing them side-by-side this weekend.

Eh.....the game looks great to me. I have voiced my complaints about the game but the graphics are certainly not one of them.

I wasnt singling anyone out but there is a lot of talk on the forum about the game looking bad.
I think the game looks great by Bethesda standards. Probably the same jump up from Falolout 4 as Fallout 4 was to Fallout 3.

Many other open world games this gen will beat it though (AVATAR for example), but most probably wont have the scope of this game.

Lol at the people trying defend the bugs and lack of basic features by saying it's a bethesda game like that somehow gives them a pass on their blatant laziness and complacency

Looks eh on the S. No complaints with the PC version though

I'm now about 20 hours in... Have only done the first main quest mission with Sarah.

I've been exploring, collecting things, finding rare items and selling them at merchants at new Atlantis.

While exploring, a random ship told me about a distress call, 3 hours later I've helped some marines clear some Spacers invading them.

Then I decided to visit Pluto.
Get lung damage because of the environment.

Go to the bar at Mars Cydonia and get absolutely filthy on a few bottles of merlot...
Decide to head into the night desert in Mars, a storm hits, space pirates land. I get onto their ship, it takes off....

It blows up in space with me inside it...

Loving it.

I think the game looks great and might be one of the very few who kind of prefer the original look over any of the install mods

Admittedly haven't played as much as I would have liked as have had some company visiting but will get going again once they decide to leave.

Always funny how it works out you live about an hour away from family and hardly see them then move 1000 miles away but they know you have free room and board at your house on the beach near Miami and all of a sudden everyone wants to "catch up"

Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
Not sure if PC is more prone to bugs than console, but it's been a relatively smooth experience for me.

Sounds like you're living the Han Solo experience. 🔥

I'm about 20 hours in and more and more getting sucked into the world, the universe, its history. The game is so massive and the experiences so diverse, it takes a while for the game to show its colors. I sometimes get whiplash from the diversity of tones, settings, stories and activities I'm doing one minute to the next

I used to love collecting books in Skyrim. You could create your own library. I need that back.

There are books in this, I've started a small library in my room at Constellation. Got some HG Wells, got Herman Melville. You dont have the whole book though, for War of the Worlds for example it's just the opening page (although that "No one would have believed..." page is a classic!).

There's collectible books like that in Starfield too. Sadly no "page flipping" animation though.

There's books about history of the current civilization and some that even start new activity quests (eg I picked up one which recommended me to check out the London tower on Earth).

Yeah, that one was Oliver Twist. Most of these books are just paragraphs explaining what the book is about and then they say something to the effect of "This book goes on to...".

Nice to see a thread on here with a lot of uses actually enjoying the game.

I still think a year from now this game will be thought of as a classic. I just feel the game will get better and better the more you play

I'm just playing as much as I can so that when I trash the game to oblivion i can screenshot my steam playtime as a defense

I like to play the long game in these wars

Am i the only one not overly annoyed by the loading times because at least on my end they are blazing fast? (Not demons remake fast of course)

I would take triple the loading times for gore and better ia...
Loading times in space are meh cause they're mostly covered by designed detailed screens.

But I hate that there is one going on/off ship or in/out buildings. If those didn't exist it'd feel a lot more seamless.

I forgot, can you switch or pick to be in multiple factions? Haven’t picked Vanguard yet trying to come across the others.

Landed on a moon at -210 C. Already got frostbite through my suit. Stumbled upon some actual scientists needing help with something involving zero guns. Just a brief little puzzle on the computer. Not bad for a small filler quest.

There's like 3 games in here.
1) Super expansive city gameplay with tons of content
2) Random rock planet gameplay similar to Interstellar where you show up at the end and find Matt Damon and nothing else on the planet
3) Space gameplay with arcade ship battles, docking and infiltration and large space stations

If you can handle #2 since that is a core part of "hard sci fi" you will probably love it.

34 hours in 3 days, this is nuts. Haven't done that in over ten years. Alarm clock on 2am all three days, good atmosphere for playing 😎
My first character had a bug after 16 hours, he wouldn't lay off the suit (when hide suit was activated), wouldn't wear a helmet visibly and if I unequipped suit and helm on a planet where I should have died, nothing happened.
Couldn't stand that, so I started new. 18 hours into that save and I have to stop, eat something and go to bed for work tomorrow.
I just want to play more, do this little thing which leads to an activity which leads to a side quest...just add some cargo to my starship only to get a new one in the next quest, warp to a new system, find the Constant...just one more quest, one more outpost, one more planet... :messenger_grinning_sweat:
Looking forward to next friday to play some more 😎

I'm 30 hours in and have encountered three pretty big bugs so far, but they were easily fixed.
It's probably because I've been messing with ship building so much because all three bugs involved the ship.
The first one happened after I completely modified the ship I stole into the one I posted earlier, first time I backed out of the ship dealer, my ship vanished from the landing pad.
Fixed this by just selecting another ship as home and then reselecting the ship I altered.

Second bug was after modifying a module in the center of the ship, after I tried to take off with it, only the inside frame of it took off lol, everything else stayed on the landing platform.
At first I thought this was just a funny bug, but the game actually needs those engines to maneuver the ship, so I was stuck in space with a ship carcass; reloading the save didn't fix this, in fact it made it worse by stripping all the colour of my ship and then making it inaccessible.
This one I fixed by quitting to the main menu and then reloading the save.

Third bug happened after fucking around and finding out, by going into a space battle unprepared, got destroyed, immediately reloaded while blowing up and tried again; got destroyed again and tried to reload once more, cept this time the load would bring me to a birds eye view of new atlantis, just outside the space port.
No control or character or ship or anything, just the camera pointing at new atlantis; this one was really odd because the battle was in a completely different solar system light years away. Reloading also didn't fix this, it just kept putting me back in the birds eye view.
Fixed by once again quitting to the main menu and then reloading.

So kinda game breaking, but also not really; I guess some actions can just break the logic that's holding the ship together and then that broken logic stays in the engine's memory until you flush it completely (quitting to menu).

Also I haven't done a single main quest after dropping VASCO off and just now I noticed I've been solo the entire time, I thought I'd get annoyed by the weight limit but it's been fine really.
Also you can get some really fun mission by jumping to random places, like the family and Juno missions, I also met someone who only invited me over to their ship to eat dinner and then leave again lol; also had the mantis mission since pretty much the start, but I've been putting it off.
Currently doing dirty jobs and making everyone my bitch for Ryujin for more money for ship building.

I like Neon the best so far, it's got that grimy space scoundrel look.

Season 4 Flirting GIF by Friends

So I still only have the one starting ship. Buying a ship is way outside my price range.
Just go to the moon, ships tend to land there you can easily steal.
I forgot, can you switch or pick to be in multiple factions?
Yeah, I'm in every faction I could join so far (cept the religious ones)

When you apply the DLSS mod, does it create a "DLSS" entry as an upscaling option, or does it still say "FSR" but is actually using DLSS under the hood? Trying to determine if I installed this correctly, because i don't really notice any change in performance otherwise.

Do you guys have issues with SDR too? I don't have the game yet, but YouTuber GamingTech says that SDR is busted too, everything is grey and there's no deep blacks at all. Washed out he says. But I don't get it, the Direct footage didn't looked washed out to me.

I know PC has mods, Xbox doesn't and I am using XSX.

Either way.....

Yeah, the whole game looks washed out to me, but I thought that was a design choice. Black levels are really elevated.

My only complaint left is that for some reason I cannot sneak up on literally anyone, ever. And everyone's awareness is too high. I can just walk into a room crouched sometimes and enemies will instantly see me and start firing when they're so far away they look like a spec and I barely can even see them. Sounds like I need some better gear because I cant even get 10 sneak attacks to start leveling up this skill path. I'd also probably prefer if the enemies had a tiny bit less health just for fun. Not sure if that can be adjusted at all on consoles.

And if you lower the TV brightness? RDR2 has elevated black levels in the night too, but when put TV black level (brightness on Sony TV) from 50 to 40 it's great.

It's good that they are acknowledging HDR issues but it seems to be with SDR too. Creative choice is possible but why didn't it look washed out during the Direct?

Have you got the stealth skill? It doesn't work at all otherwise

You don't have to get close or even do 10 different hits; if you find an automatic gun with a silencer on it, you can just sneak attack someone several times in one go, as long as the sneak bar doesn't say "danger", they haven't detected you yet and any hit still counts as a sneak attacks.
