I honestly cannot comprehend in my mind why so many people care about the 'timeline' of Zelda. I mean it hurts my brain just thinking about the fact that people really care about it. I'm not trying to be insulting or anything, but it's obvious as anything in the universe that Nintendo really makes no real attempt to connect all the games together. And no, vague comments in interviews do not count.
Interview comments are anything but vague, however the main core is the actual games, manuals, and other supplemental material. If you actually paid attention or cared to what goes in each of the Zelda games, maybe you'd see that the games are connected. Saying, "Nintendo really makes no real attempt to connect all the games together." is a factually wrong statement, and insulting people who even want to remotely suggest there is a timeline is downright offensive to both fans and the writers that work on the series.

The pillars of light are green, blue and red. How unsurprising.

They do make real attempts, stating they don't is factually wrong and requires you to actively ignore several elements in each game for no reason.

Can we keep the timeline discussion in the other thread, please?

Man, there's a store near where I live where I could actually make a poster out of this image, but I think I'd need a hi-res version of it.

12 possible potions. Why does potion dude have a baby on his back? This must be his wife:

I seriously have a hard time trying to figure out which is the wife and which is the husband.

EDIT: Whoops, sorry for the double post.

That gave me a cool idea for a premise for a future Zelda game.

Having a 4th god as the antagonist.

We have
Din the Goddess of Power, symbolized by the color red and the elements of fire and earth.
Farore the Goddess of Courage, symbolized by the color green and the elements of wind and forest.
Nayru the Goddess of Wisdom, symbolized by the color blue and the elements of water and time.

Together the three goddesses each left a fragment of their powers which formed into the Triforce.

Those godesses have never appeared in the games besides creation myths. But local gods appear quite often.

Now what if a god emerges, strong enough to challenge the three goddesses? It could be Goddess of Chaos, symbolized by the color purple and the elements of destruction and death. Heck it could even leave its own power relic which would fit inside the original triforce.

- This would make for some epic stroy elements, with Link going up against something stronger and more powerful than ever. I could imagine the three goddesses coming to his aid in some way or another. Imagine traveling to some holy realm, or what kind of items you would need to battle a god. I could see a lot of 'lone tree on the moon' moments in such a game.

- Another healthy break for Ganondorf. The personality of the this new goddessm devoid of any emotion could bring in some interesting traits to a main antagonist in a Zelda game. I just finished Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn and enjoyed Ashera quite a lot.

- I like the corlor purple.

What if the fourth Goddess was the Skyloft one? Complete (and borderline insane) speculation, of course.

Going by the structure of the underworld, Skyloft seems to be the missing triangle in the middle of the Triforce. If we assume each of the three regions represents one piece of the triforce (and one color/goddess), is it too far-fetched to imagine Skyloft represents a fourth, missing piece with a fourth, yet unnamed goddess?

I really wonder when Nintendo will start the TV ads for this. Clearly in November but I wonder when in Nov. A week leading up to the release or at the start of the month. I do think they need to continue the ads leading into Christmas and a little bit after it. No stopping them as soon as the game comes out. Also placement of the ads are important. Kids channels only won't be good. They need to be prime time on various channels.

I just have the fear that how Nintendo has maintained or didn't maintain the Wii buying audience could bite them in the ass if they don't go all out in grabbing the attention of all gamers. I also wonder if they'll try to make the connection between Wii Sports Resort and Skyward Sword in terms of the motion plus controls since that sold a LOT. Try to grab those fans. A game that incorporates all those elements might be interesting to them.

Anyone worried about the dungeon count? That world map on the site leaves much to be desired.
As long as the overworld (or underworld, I guess) remains puzzle-esque I imagine it'll be like Majora's Mask; even though there were only four temples, everywhere you went was a dungeon in its own right. Especially since we're going to be revisiting areas and dungeons to get upgrades and the like.

That said I haven't been keeping tabs on much about the dungeons since I didn't want to spoil that aspect of the game, so they might've confirmed the number somewhere and I missed it.

I'm gonna guess 8. (And that's not counting the times you'll have to go back to them, because you will.)

Going by the map, the Faron region on the bottom-right seems to have two dungeons, perhaps three depending on what's in the bottom part, around the Faron Woods, with the latter acting as some sort of hub. Add the Woods being seemingly quite intricate (certainly more than your usual 3D Zelda overworld), and I doubt we'll have much to complain.

Faron Woods has two dungeons, a shiekah temple in the Sealed Grounds and Skyview Temple in the Deep Woods.

Eldin Volcano and (Lanayru) Desert will also probably have two to three dungeons each, another dungeon in that large swirly cloud and a final one probably in Skyloft.

Don't forget that last bit of uncovered map southeast of the woods. I have a feeling there's gonna be a dungeon in there.

Come on now there's been no mention of any shiekah temple in Faron Woods. Just because there's a door with the Shiekah symbol doesn't mean anything.

Okay, we're ignoring the architecture outside and inside this nonexistent temple as well.

I can already count at least 2 in the Woods (1-2). There's gonna be a 3rd one in the still covered part of the woods (3) I'm sure. There's gonna be at least 1 in the other regions, + the Final Dungeon.

So I say at minimum there has to be 5 or 6 dungeons.

Im gonna say there are 3 in the woods area that you pointed out, at least 2 in the mountain area and at least 3 in the unrevealed area on the left. So thats 8, plus the final dungeon, for a total of 9 which is pretty standard. Even then we already know the overworld is a dungeon in its self since we've seen the area in the woods by the great tree which had its fair share of puzzles and obstacles to figure out. I really doubt we will be short of dungeon type experiences in this game regardless of the official dungeon count. Also didnt they say you would be returning to dungeons, so I imagine a few will be rather large and multifaceted.

I would really prefer like say 10 dungeons, not including the final one, which is a lot admittedly, but have 5-6 being pretty short but sweet dungeons with then the remaining 4-5 being quite large and long and where we have to return and re-explore them to open up new sections.

I hope large blank areas like the upper left actually have content in them at some point. I always hated on the OOT map how much of it was still covered with cloud at the end. Teasing us into thinking the gameworld will be quite big.

There's a big mass of clouds there, which will likely disappear at some point to reveal a new area (or maybe the final dungeon.)

The last game to have 10 or more dungeons was A Link to the Past, I don't think we'll see that again.

Considering the size of Skyloft and SS's huge ass tree with Hyrule Market, Lon Lon Ranch, Deku Tree in OOT, this is how i think both maps would compare scale-wise

Ohh I know, but if done like I said with half or more of them being shorter dungeons, like half dungeons, I think it would be rather easy.

In my mind these 6 or so short dungeons could be highly specialized with a specific mechanic or trick to exploring them. The large dungeons would be similar to normal dungeons, but could be a bit longer with some more depth. In all there probably wouldnt be more content than most other Zelda's but there would be more diversity in the dungeon experiences, youd get a bunch of short ones with varying puzzles and styles and then a few really large dungeons that incorporate a lot of different puzzles and layouts.

Now compare it to TP.

Well we've explicitly seen a desert dungeon in some of the gameplay footage, and that's not directly in theme with the three areas (okay, maybe Eldin)

I expect that to be in the Lanayru region, north of a large lake :p

This may be a bit imprecise (the Skyview Temple is where Zora's Domain is supposed to be), but I think it works. Behind the Skyview Temple, in the SS underworld map, you can sort of see what seems to be a river.

Okay, yeah, but it strongly implies to me more then one dungeon per region, as we're pretty much guaranteed Forest Temple, Fire Temple, and Water Temple

The big tree in SS is exactly where the Deku Tree is...

But does it have a face? I really hope a Great Deku Tree makes an appearance. It would be awesome if we planted the GDT from OoT or something corny like that.

I would be surprised if we had less than two dungeons per region.

Its a big ass tree for sure, but theres no face on it, at least of what we've seen of it, unless you try really hard and Ive seen people try but every other GDT had a very clear and distinct face so why change that now? Until that thing starts talking its just a big ass tree to me.

It would be hilarious if the giant tree had a tiny face. Like a human sized face with a massive tree body.
