According to some poster on the official Forums.. a new patch is out in Europe..

I just downloaded an update titled 2.01.
I live in Europe, more precisely Poland.

The update is available in Europe.
It's 92MB!

yeah it fixed it!!!
but they seem to have minimized the texture details..anyway it's not that bad though...I hope this runs this smooth after hours of gameplay..

save file: 13mb+
hours: 105+

got in game in winterhold after patch, in the middle of a snowstorm, and the snow fell without lag :) so i got on my horsey and rode out of town. game froze 1 sec because the snow dissapeared, and again for 0.5 secs when i got attacked by a bear.. fasttraveled to whiterun.. trying to sprint trough the town.. it still stutters a bit but very mildly, id say the patch helps :) usually if i get ingame with this savefile i get lag from the start i start this game. dont know how it will be over 2 hours but im happy with this. good job beth. will keep u guys updated how it goes after 2 hours lol

Thanks for the info, downloading now :D (it's up in other countries as well)

*edit: Bethesda redeemed?
Save file size decreased from 6.8 to 6.1mb

I think 360's problem is different. Its concerning HD textures not loading correctly if I'm not in total wrong.

Yeah, I was just wondering if this PS3 patch is literally just addressing the framerate stuff.

I dont have any version but from reading I´d say the PS3 proplem is way worse.

It get heavy fps slowdowns and becomes unplayable after the save file gets too big

Yep. My save file is at 11MB and the game slows down to like 5fps in the span of 30 minutes or less now. I have to keep restarting the game, it runs so bad. I hope this patch fixes this issue...

Ok the game does run better. Is it perfect? no but its better than the last time I played.
And my savefile is now down to 5.9 mb

Great news!

But wasn't this supposed to come out in a couple of weeks from now? Either their desperation forced their hand or this is just a regular hotfix, with the proper patch still coming along the road. I will pop my copy in later today and see if the update is live in the general EU/UK region.

Save file went from 10 megs to 9 megs, will do a couple hours of hunting/gathering and fast traveling between places to see if the slow downs start appearing again..

Does this patch automatically download when you load the game? I have the US version and a US account, but am currently in Japan so not sure if that's why it's not showing up for me..

Hopefully the patch will be available in NA when I get home tomorrow in the early afternoon.

Looking forward to being able to play again. :p

Patch was scheduled for right after Thanksgiving weekend.

The time its taken them to put this patch out doesn't exactly make them look too good considering they never could be bothered patching Fallout 3 to fix this exact same issue.

On the other hand considering how good they seem to be at coding they may very well have been working on this patch since the PS3 version of Fallout 3.

Anyone responsible for Fallout 3 wouldn't look too good.

Who knows, maybe their "Creation" engine or whatever it's called (Gamebryo NEXT) actually has the capability to squash the issue, unlike it's progenitor.

Hey, their programming department (I think his name is Dave) is doing a great job considering how big the game is.

Isn't the game kind of broken in some form on the PS3 version? I think that justifies that being patched first.

It suffers from literally the worst slowdown ive ever experienced in anything involving sequential images.

Tell me about it.

It takes "I feel like I'm playing a slideshow" to a new level. I've never played a game with such terrible framerate.

I wonder if it's truly patched though. I've gone through stretches with no frame drops (15mb save file). We won't know for sure until people record extended sessions (3 hours+).

After looking at youtube videos for the PS3 version...

Well, all i can say is that im so sorry for people who bought it. Hopefully this patch fix most of it.

How I can't shake the feeling that this will somehow manage to make the game even worse in long term playing? Hopefully not, good thing that they got this out.

Glad to hear it fixes the lag. My copy is unplayable right now and has a 14MB save...lol

Please hit the US soon!

I'll post my thoughts from the ot:

Patch seems to work. My save went from 15mb down to 13mb, and the lag/stutter in the overworld and crowded areas/towns seems better.
Still some stuttering here and there, but a lot better. Played for over an hour, no lockups or ridiculously long load times. I just got the plat though, so my desire has dwindled.

Will make a heavy armor/2 handed beast for the DLC, whenever that may happen.

Awesome game, my experience (with the bugs and all) make it a solid 9/10. If I had of played with this patch, probably would be nearly perfect.

I'm incredibly happy they actually atleast tried to fix this, I just wish it was sooner. It really marred my experience, and despite having a blast, my best friend is thinking about returning his copy(well, was earlier today, pre patch) due to how much shit his save was going through.

Can anyone confirm they actually lowered the texture quality to achieve this? Seems a poor way of fixing it if they did.
