This is one of my favorite games on my iPod...so visually appealing with great atmosphere. It can be confusing at times as some of the puzzles really are not all that obvious...but it is refreshing in a way when so many other game basically tell you how how to work through a puzzle.

Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
Got an iPad2 for my birthday today, and I've wanted to play the game for a while, so I downloaded it. Love it. Kind of glad I'm playing it on my ipad instead of my iPhone 4, just because of the viewing area.

Issue 2 of atomix mag for iPad has a bunch of video interviews between the area5 guys and devs of S&S. Definitely worth the $1 for that alone.
Yep. Somehow superbrothers has become labelled as a "hipster" because of the writing in s:s&s ep but this interview showed him being far from a hipster in my eyes. He's totally down to earth, and the Capy guys seemed like nice folks too. I guess it's just a case of people wanting to hate on something popular and trying to qualify that.

People just like to label. No harm in it, we didn't take it personally/negatively. Even Cliffy B tweeted about it being "Hipster" but he was clear to ensure he meant it in a positive way.

This game seriously has the best soundtrack in a game since at least VVVVVV. Probably better. It's SO good.

Unfortunately(?) I don't own any iOS devices so I can't play the game. Even though I've been anxiously awaiting this game since it was first hinted at. I got to play about 1 minute of it on my roommate's ipad. Alas...

HIP HIP HUZZAH

When Toronto natives Superbrothers, Jim Guthrie & Capybara Games came together to craft the game now known as Sword & Sworcery, we truly had no idea where the project would take us. As the experience began to take shape we got pretty excited about it - after all, we were making something tuned to our particular tastes & interests - but we had no clear idea what would happen when it was finally released on the App Store. We simply had to trust that amongst the millions of iPad, iPhone and iPod touch owners, there would be some percentage of people who loved music, art & videogames as much as we did. We held onto that trust for well over a year as we worked towards completion, which finally came ‘around the vernal equinox’ in March 2011.

Since its release on the App Store two months ago the Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP App has sold over 200,000 copies, priced at $4.99 / $2.99. It has been an overwhelming and amazing experience so far.

And while it is an immensely positive thing seeing this degree of financial success after only 2 months, it’s the critical reception & the audience response that has really blown us away. As we post this, the game sits at an 87 Metacritic rating, which in itself is a special thing for an iOS app. More significantly, the audience has spoken - they have been lighting up the App Store with user reviews, with over 3000 five star reviews worldwide. We have even seen thoughtful, positive coverage from outlets like Time, MSNBC, The Times of London, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, ABC News and CNN... and significantly, this exposure generally took the angle of covering Sword & Sworcery not as a ‘tech trend’ but as a cultural artifact. Even Mashable helped spread the word with a discussion of Sword & Sworcery’s creative integration of Twitter (which has seen an estimated 200,000+ tweets sporting the games’ proprietary hashtag #sworcery).

Meanwhile, Jim Guthrie’s extraordinary musical score has attracted admirers from across the world. The companion record, Jim Guthrie’s Sword & Sworcery LP: The Ballad of the Space Babies, has seen strong sales through iTunes, Bandcamp and even on limited edition 180g vinyl, where the first pressing of 1000 records sold out just a few days after the initial release. In fact, Jim will be adding a selection of these songs to his live repertoire for the upcoming Sword & Sworcery ‘RockShowCase’ at TIFF Bell Lightbox on June 30th in downtown Toronto.

The iOS platform combined with the App Store provide a space where motivated creators can bring original visions to market without the numerous hindrances seen on other platforms. In the span of only a couple months the Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP App has proven the critical and financial viability of artist-driven, experimental videogame projects on the iOS platform.

To everyone out there who took the time to explore this project and help us spread the word: we are so very glad you dug it & we are immensely grateful for your support. Also: the summer solstice is June 21st... I wonder what will happen?

No reason given. Just a page with the word "No" flashing in red. What a bunch of jerks.

jokes on them

its inevitable that if they dont release on android, a competitor will release something similar. they should lock up the genre in case competitors out-produce them, and there is a ton of money in this space

Sometimes, it isn't about money.

Hey, if you're that upset, ask Craig why it's not on Android. :p He replies pretty often on twitter @the1console.

right I would think they should release on android not because of the money, but in allowing competitor's the room for releasing something that becomes the new hot game.

something could be not as good as their game, but being the only one available on android could end up selling great and becoming a franchise.

If somebody else could make a game with the atmosphere and the art of S&S (not to mention the amazing music) then more power to them. S&S is on a whole other level to most adventure games, I honestly don't believe that a copycat game could even come close to touchng it.

And anyone who tries to clone it will run into the issue of it lacking in originality and freshness of the game.

Let's look at it this way, if it was exploitable, Gameloft would have made a clone and put it out on every platform under the sun already.

I hope this doesn't constitute as 'port begging', but I'd love to see this game come to the Vita.

Absolutely loved playing it when I borrowed my buddy's iPad.

Is there an OT for this, or is this the OT? Picked this up last night (bought the Universal version, planning on an iPad at tome point) and I know fuck all about it (except that it spammed my Twitter stream a while back).

Can't get it to tweet the clues though, despite it linking fine (and showing in my authorised applications list on Twitter).

Well, this is amazing and beautiful and sounds stunning. At the moment I'm quite devastated that I'm holding out on an iPad, because I imagine playing this on that screen in the dark with a decent pair of headphones would add to the atmosphere immensely.

Twitter's still not working for me though, can't understand why. :(

I'm not too fond of this game. Mostly because after I captured the sprites or whatever, I cannot figure out what to do. I'm just walking, painfully slow, across beautiful pixelated landscapes.
