This is such a horrible idea. It's pretty much allowing terrible sigs that he and everyone else hates.

Totally agree, I do think it should be bannable to use spoiler tags for things which are not spoilers. It's really annoying, especially in threads where real spoilers might actually be posted but you can't tell which are real or not.

The 100x120 is so to reduce stress on the GAF servers. But if you look at a forum where it is done, the only local files are the stars and grey box. The actual gamer avatars and data that is updated seems to be on the Live servers. I have no idea how much bandwidth these things are taking there but I could ask one of their admins.

Yes but dont see what harm it would cause giving the users the option to display them for their avatar in graphics. I'm not saying we should adopt this, personally I don't care either way, but I thought it was a neat feature

That just clutters up the thread though, so people don't tend to do that. I can see why people want the feature though, sometimes you see a really good post that pretty much sums up a thread and/or argument, but that gets no replies.

It makes long thoughtful posts less attractive to write as they tend to get less feedback or lead to less discussion than short controversial arguments that have huge holes in.

I have definitely considered that this post may be off topic, so sorry if it is.

This would really help. Especially when I'm browsing some larger topics that I haven't visited in a while, or when parts of the original post are cut out.

This thread has gotten interesting. I suppose that junior accomplished something with his final post, whether he intended to or not.

One of the reasons GAF is so enjoyable is because it's simple. No signatures, no huge avatars, no point system. I think adding more features could take away from that aspect, and lead to the site feeling cluttered like other forums... Although I do kind of miss the smiley.

I play by one main rule on Neogaf when posting: "If I wasn't me, would I want to read this?"

If the answer is no, I don't post it. I've often typed out a post, re-read it and decided that, "actually, I don't think I'll reply. I have nothing worthwhile to add here."

And thats how I find it works best. Been here since 2007 without a ban so it's obviously helping. Basically I just try to post what I think people will want to read or care about.

No, I just really don't like them. I was initially thinking of the garbage ones people had at CAG but these are better but not by much. It would have to be an all or nothing thing most likely since you want to link to the live servers with the avatars which not everyone wants. And I don't like how huge those avatars are and I'm assuming Evilore doesn't want images that large either. It just adds needless clutter.

Personally, I miss the gif-atars. I was never here during the Smiley-age, but I can say I miss that too.

You know, I've gotten used to not having the gif avatars. And I like GAF because its pretty simple as well. Not a lot of clutter.

Sorry, but Danica Patrick sucks. She's more popular than any other IndyCar driver by far, yet she's not half as good as the best drivers out there. I will forever shit on her. Not because she's a girl, but because she gets attention that she doesn't deserve BECAUSE she's a girl. Motorsport recognition should come from merit. Fuck that.

Great post and I agree. The forum just looks clean and simple. Sometimes I miss the animated avatars but I can understand how they could be distracting. I'll always miss the smileys though. Too bad some people abused them.

Can't remember who it was but their entire post was just filled with laughing smileys.

The gaming side of this place seems to be a far more contentious place compared to OT. Unless rape, beiber, race, gaga or tipping enters the thought stream.

I just wish we could have search back again (I know that Evilore has said that it's on the cards).

Also I think this place has an unfair rep for the mods being banwild, it just seems actors niche sector of the forum who fixate about it in an unhealthy manner.

Actors niche, whatever that means.
