Resident Evil 6: Bro-Splosion Announced, Nov 20 PS3/360, PC Later, PR/Trailer In OP

It's hard to tell if he's moving and shooting. It might look that way because the big monster and train are moving towards him, which might be giving the illusion that he is moving forward, even if he really isn't.

Just before he shoots the zombie that jumps at him, Leon is definitely moving one step to the left. I wish I had gif making skills so it'd be better illustrated. =P

For the record, Leon's scenario will be the only one with a "survival horror" feel to it. Chris and Cole MacGrath will be action-fests.

lol what happened to the rumour about this being a reboot and horrory, instead we get Gearz 4 Dead by Michael Bay :/

Oh wow, it does look that way! Thanks for the gif. I know some people prefer the characters planting their feet and not moving while they shoot and I brought myself to get accustomed to RE5's controls but I definitely prefer the ability to move and shoot.

Dead Space has proven to me that you can do a tense atmosphere/horror game while also giving you that option.
there is little difference, other than being more accessible to people who can't be bothered to adjust to unique controls. once you add slow movement you also speed up the enemies.

You mean this horror reboot?

I'm not talking about existing games, I'm talking about the concept. People are saying games can't be scary with co-op. I think a scary co-op game just needs to be made.

If you want direct examples anyway, there are multiplayer games that might pass, though they are far from survival horror. The feeling of playing as a marine in the original Aliens vs. Predator might count.

I just don't think that the co-op aspect was the part that ruined the horror in RE5. It was everything else about the game. It's pretty much a straight-up shooter.

If someone made a multiplayer version of Amnesia, for example, I don't think that would diminish the horror of it. It might make it worse, even, especially if you both HAVE to survive. Wouldn't that be a cool game?

My main issue with RE5 was that almost every setpiece and bossfight was basically copied from RE4, except not as good.

there is little difference, other than being more accessible to people who can't be bothered to adjust to unique controls. once you add slow movement you also speed up the enemies.

This. If the walking while shooting is slow like in Dead Space, it doesn't really affect the gameplay much, because you'll still have to turn and run away to create space eventually.

I'm sceptic... The first minute was great : Leon's return, regular zombies, a good resident evil 2 atmosphere and then explosions and actions everywhere...

RE 5 is dogshit

I hated RE5, but it's most definitely not dogshit. It's not even close to as good as RE4, but there are a couple of occasions of awesomeness, the graphics are still fantastic, and the music is pretty good.

But the MGS-styled approach to the story and the action parts were what ruined the game. I wouldn't have minded the action parts had they not felt 100% random and clunky as hell.

It was stated before the trailer even came out that the game would be a survival horror/action blend (RE4 + RE5, specifically). Leon's segment will be more traditional horror. Chris will be more like RE5 combined with ORC.

RE 5 is dogshit

Beautiful graphics, cool music, tight as hell gunplay, one of the best designed co op games next to portal 2 and the like, awesome mercs mode.

Sounds like dog shit to me, I hate when people call something dogshit just because it's not what they specifically want, like people who call sonic generations dogshit because it's not sonic 4 (the real one), meanwhile sonic 2006 is what? Mega dog shit?

Best part of the trailer? The incredible-looking Nemesis-style BOW with the crane machine claw and the face like a melted wax museum bulldog. Can someone take a hi-res screengrab of when that creature grabs Cole McGrath? Speaking of which, where can I download an HD version of the trailer?

The Leon part was so awesome, and then they showed us the DUDEBROS, and now I won't buy this game.

I was thinking the same. It even had a more intimate, tight corridor feel then BAM Chris kicks in with the Dudebro. Either side of the game looks good to me and I'm happy that Ashley's back too.

To be fair, there are moments where I felt the game design was atrocious.

I went through RE5 alone on Veteran mode, and without any sort of hyperbole, I can tell you that I kept losing because Sheva kept being stupid and dying on me. I had fun with the game, but there are definite aspects of "dog shit" in there. Metaphorically speaking.

The trailer is only available in HD on the CAPCOM press vaults.

The AI was of questionable intelligence especially if you did not give her very good weapons, however when played in co op the game shines through as one of the best games this gen, I agree that the main campaign should have not had sheva aside from maybe in cutscenes, or made it so she couldn't die or something, but still. It's like trying to judge smash brothers on the single player.

I know RE used to be one thing and now it's something else, but what it is, is still fantastic, just different.

I can't stop watching this trailer. While I'm not a huge fan of what appear to be more action-oriented controls, all that Leon stuff looks so damn awesome I don't even care.

What I don't get from the oldschool fans not being happy is this:

capcom split their game in 3 freakin' campaigns.
1 for horror (leon) (with a freakin' MT-framework raccoon city experience)
2 for dude-bro resident kill switch (chris)
3 for uncharted-ish+melee/coop (cole mcEvil) (not much info about that one)

AND re:revelations is coming out next week which is geared towards puzzles, horror etc ...

EVERYONE should be happy. If you're a business you can't just choose one type of clients over another. Capcom solved this problem yet people complain.
This is so irrational.

Game looks good.

Really hope there isn't any co-op (or if there is, its optional). I hate RE5 because Shiva is a fucking idiot.

TAJ

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
Looks fantastic. People will complain about anything. "Dudebro" is becoming so overused as to be meaningless.

It should just be "Bro", anyway.

This. I liked the first part, then the rest of the trailer looked like RE5. I'm going to get it since RE5 was fine, but I'm still hoping for similarities closer to the earlier games of the series.

That high minded philosophy is very noble, but to extend the analogy, imagine that your favorite literary series suddenly started including sparkly vampires and bad teenage romance and went on to sell far better than it ever had before as Twilight acolytes lapped up the new direction and became the new fanbase while you were left out in the cold. You would be unhappy, and you would correctly identify the Twilight fans as the impetus for this unhappy turn of events.

The people protesting the new trend know that they are a vocal minority on the losing side of a battle. In a perfect world everyone would get the games they like. We don't live in a perfect world. The DudeBros are now the mainstream and content creators are taking notice. If the vocal minority refuses to be vocal, it risks utter and complete irrelevance. The problem is not just one game or one publisher. They're just going where the money is.

The problem is the DudeBros.

Tough titty then?

Seriously that's what it comes down to. Look it sucks but sometimes thing evolve into something you and some old fans may not like. At that point all you can do is let it go and move on. No need to knock the "new" fanbase. Find something else.

That's the hipster mentality, of oh man the mainstream is taking over. It's bullshit. Your tastes are not the only ones that matter and as such the majority wins out. You expect Capcom to make a slow paced RE after RE4 and RE5 sold a shitton(and did well critically)? Why the fuck would they do that? That's pretty stupid to expect them as a company to just drop that market for their old fans who aren't as viable. The Old RE games are outdated and RE4 made sure it would be impossible to go back.

It's harsh but it's the way things are man. You don't like the new games then go play other ones and stop acting as if you are better than those that play them by calling them names like dudebros and shit. Just because you don't like it doesn't automatically mean its bad or dumb.

I Find it hillarious that there are people saying that the games should go BACk to their old style when a common criticism of some games are that they never change or evolve. Gamers are never satisfied, man.

Okay i don't mean to be a hater but does anybody else also notice how much the polygon counts have gone down compared to RE5? It seriously looks much more low res.

I agree, I think Capcom actually took the perfect route with this title(did I just say that, in this day and age? wow). Seems like a very logical evolution of the series, especially because RE has never been a straight horror series, it's always had some action as well. While I think the balance should be tipped more in horror's favor, I'm just glad to see it not being left behind.

Regular zombies? I don't remember zombies running and jumping at me in the older RE games.
