Rarest Game You Own?

I have a seal copy of Starfox for the SNES (only payed $2 for it)

When I bought it, it still had the original price tag stickers on it from Montgomery Ward.

Hmm, didn't the SNES games usually have that Nintendo seam like today's Nintendo games do? You know, the seam that you pull on to open the plastic that has the Nintendo logo all over it. I remember that F-Zero and ALTTP had that when I bought them new very late from Club Nintendo in Sweden when they cleaned out their leftover stock in like 2001 or something. Perhaps only the later copies had that. Man I wish I didn't open ALTTP. Would probably be pretty expensive today otherwise.

The Seam with Nintendo written on it is only in Europe. In japan most famicom and super famicom games were not shrink-wrapped at all. In the US they were shrkinwrapped just like his Starfox box.

Europe had different seals than the US for a lot of things.

Probably not entirely what you're looking for, but Price Charting does a pretty okay job.

Going by that site based on price:

NES: NES Console (Uh...yay?)
SNES: Kirby Super Star
N64: N64 Console (though I've got an original OoT gold cartridge, if that's worth anything)
GC: LoZ Collector's Edition

Sega: 32X (it's missing cables or something though; never could get it play Doom right).
GB/GBC: GBC Console/Pokemon Crystal
GBA: NES GBA SP (though the outside case is scratched to hell)
DS: Digimon World DS

PS1: FFVII
PS2: Tales of the Abyss

Frankly, my stuff doesn't really amount to much.

I have a monopoly board game from the early 1970s. Other than that all my games are your average fighting games.

djtiesto

is beloved, despite what anyone might say
Panzer Dragoon Saga, Radiant Silvergun, Rondo of Blood, Valkyrie Profile, Radiant Historia, Earthbound (cart only), Lufia 2 (cart only), nearly every US-released Megaten, and boxed copies of all 4 Dragon Warrior games. Also, Phantasy Star Adventure (GG Import), Pier Solar second print, and Star Odyssey.

-Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for Xbox, but the value went down after the XBLA version was released.
-first run copy of the Xbox version of GTA San Andreas (with the hot coffee stuff on the disc). Those are rare now, right?
-Ocarina of Time/Master Quest disc for Gamecube
-UFC 2009 for Xbox 360 signed by Dan Henderson and Rich Franklin. Rich even made a joke to me about how he was getting his butt kicked on the back cover by Anderson Silva when he signed it lol
-Random collector's editions (Halo 2, Forza 4, MGS4, AC Brotherhood, Perfect Dark Zero, Saints Row 2, some other ones I can't remember)

Suikoden II

I went into my local Play N Trade and they pulled it out of the drawer. Some kid had traded in a PS1 and a ton of great RPGs for it. I paid $80 in store credit for a PS1 game I'd been wanting to get for a while.

That sounds exactly like my experience finding Suikoden II. A chance encounter at Play N Trade, and $80 later it was mine.

I used to have a copy of Suikoden II but I sold it during college for $150 to buy books :(

I sold my copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga in graduate school back in 2004 for $300. Great game but I needed the cash and I'll probably never want to play it again.

I have 2 copies of Panzer Dragoon Saga that i picked up i already had one copy and saw the other for £10 in a games shop it was in amazingly good condition.

From this gen

Anno:A new World for the Wii was almost impossible to find for a while not sure what the situations is like now but i have a copy of that

And Little King Story is going to be one of those games that people are going to want to have in a few years time picked up two copies of that last year as Game were flogging them for £5 each

my rarest game should be Conker's Bad fur Day with booklet for my N64. I used to have the limited Edition of Wind Waker with the OoT Master Quest disc, but somehow I lost the disc which made the edition limited...

I guess it's my Boxed copy of Store Keepers for the Game Pocket Computer:
DSCN2342.jpg

Took me forever to find that.

I actually have a complete set of games for it:
DSCN3032.jpg

I think Astro Bomber is really rare as well. Well they all are but those two in particular are harder to find I think.

Star Fox Competition

My friend found 20 of those at a local garage sale a euro apiece years ago. He's sold a few on ebay but I think he still has about half. If anyone's looking for one of those I could hook you up.

Not sure how rare some of this is, but in my collection I have:

-Castlevania Symphony of the Night (complete PAL version with bonus CD and artbook)
-ICO (PAL original cardboard sleeve edition)
-Shadow of the Colossus (PAL original cardboard sleeve edition)

-All the USA Xseed/Falcom premium edition releases:
Ys Seven
Ys the Oath in Felghana
Ys I&II Chronicles
Trails in the Sky

-Zelda Twilight Princess (PAL Gamecube version)
-Metal Gear Solid 3 Subsistence (PAL version with all extras)

-Donkey Kong Game and Watch complete in box with all manuals etc

Pretty sure there's more I could list but that's what I can think of off the top of my head at the moment.

The rarest game I own is game called Dragon View or also called Drakkhen 2 for the SNES.

It was a fun little game for the SNES...

I've never even met anybody thats even played it other than me.

Not sure how to define rare when it comes to games, anymore rare just means old. Though some of my stuff is both

Alundra (Signed by Vic Ireland)
Panzer Dragoon Saga (Bought it as Saturn was being phased out of Toys R Us yrs ago)
Shining the Holy Ark
CastleVania Chronicles
Shining Force 3 Pt 1 (was so pissed we never got the rest back in the day lol)
Symphony of the Night for Saturn (JP ver)
Dual Hearts
Growlancer Coll LE PS2
Tales of Destiny

I have tons more but no point in making a giant list.

I have a sealed copy of the Mass Effect 1 collector's edition (I got a copy when it came out and randomly won some bioware drawing for another copy that I didn't find out I won until about a month after the game was already out). Didn't really think it was that rare, but apparently it's going for a lot on ebay.

I dunno how rare these are (I imagine not at all), but I've either seen them mentioned in this thread or don't see that many other people with them: Chrono Trigger, Mario RPG, Metal Combat, Super Scope 6, Wario's Woods (SNES), Ogre Battle 64, MegaMan 7, Paper Mario, Conker, Zelda Collector's Edition for GCN, Pikmin 2, Skies of Arcadia, Yoshi's Story, Kirby 64, F-Zero, and the Majora's Mask Gold "3D" cart. I also have an American cartridge of Super Street Fighter 2 SNES that for some strange reason came with a Japanese ROM inside instead.

So, yeah, nothing too rare at all.

Yep. Very rare. Gametraders (a store that deals in old and new) is selling the Gamecube copy for $149.95AU. If that doesn't scream rare then I don't know what does.
Fuck, I traded mine years ago to a friend for Mario Golf.....

madp

The Light of El Cantare
Is Robot Alchemic Drive for PS2 considered rare? God I love that game.

RAD is almost impossible to find, I'm surprised it isn't worth more. I spent like a year looking for a copy at Gamestop before just going the ebay route. I've still never seen one for sale used anywhere B&M, be it GS, vintage stores, or elsewhere.

Holy crap @ those Game and Watches - lovely condition, that's got to be worth a fair bit, no?

My fave collectible is probably my Bit Generations games:

800px-Bit_Generations_Series.JPG

(not my pic) Not sure if they're at all rare though.

SO MUCH JELLY. I only have Boundish and Soundvoyager, I'd love to get the rest without selling a kidney. The little boxes are just the best thing.

I own PriceCharting.com, thanks for the love. We try to keep an accurate price on every game out there including quite a few rarities.

Not sure if it tops this or not, but I own NBA Elite 11.

Whoa. This gen's Stadium Events for sure. Since you're serious enough a collector to have secured a copy, you may know the answer to this: have any 360 copies survived? I've only ever seen PS3 come up for sale.

Suikoden II.

Also, 3 out of 4 discs of Shenmue II PAL for DC. In perhaps my greatest gaming tragedy, my friend threw out my Dreamcast while moving, which I suspect had disc 1 inside. Boggles my mind how he could do that but also how I ever trusted his drunk ass w/ such a rare gem in the first place. :(

Not quite a "game", but I have the very rare 1995 SIGGRAPH Square's Preview Extra with the FFVII playable demo and the famous FF7 tech demo with FF6 characters moving around in 3D, which was quite impressive at the time.

People are willing to pay good money for this collector's item; I might sell mine, as I don't think I've put it into my PS1 in at least five or six years.

http://www.anjelsyndicate.org/2011/...ew-extra-final-fantasy-vii-siggraph-95-works/

Dude, that's seriously awesome! I didn't know the SIGGRAPH demo was converted to Playstation. I thought it ran on "high-end SGI workstations."

Probably Persona 2: Eternal Punishment for the PS1.

Apparently Rule of Rose is somewhat rare as well?

Edit: Oh, I guess some of my computer titles are rare as well? Complete System Shock 2, Lurking Horror for Apple II, Realms of the Haunting, Alone in the Dark 1-3... also Pathways into Darkness for the Mac.

That siggraph demo is only a video, not playable right?

I have some bit generations stuff, a copy of Linda 7 for the PS1... but nothing too rare... I think.

I do. It's the PAL version though. But I don't think any version is that hard to come by, is it?

For the record he was asking about the Panzer Dragoon Orta themed Xbox console, not just the game. Pretty sure they were only for Japan, no idea what the run quantity was.

orta_box.jpg

And my rarest item is probably Panzer Dragoon Saga, 1st pressing. Bought it at release, completely clueless of its rarity at the time.

It was Brave Fencer Musashi...

FF8 demo disc, no scratches, booklet, original case...

worth 80 bucks.

No idea where the fuck it went... worst thing ever.

I have a laser cel from the ps2 release of resident evil 4. it has leon with a chainsaw guy behind him. no idea how rare it is though.

I also have the ga-ko alarm clock that came out shortly after MGS4. Only 2000 units, so that sounds somewhat rare.

Probably a sealed copy of Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence.

It's been steadily increasing in price on eBay for a few years now, and is around the $250 mark. I know that's nothing to some people who have older SNES carts, but it's the rarest title I have - and I keep all of my games.

To eBay!
