Alright played the demo and was rather impressed. Did RPG mode, will go through and replay it under Action mode and Story mode later just to see what the differences are.

heh, i was wondering whether to post it or not. As a Sentinel, the demo on insanity is not that difficult if you keep your distance and take advantage of biotic combinations to create explosions. The last part was a bit tricky if you don't move fast, the pod barrier that carries the female krogan goes down quickly if you don't make some fast kills. Those lift grenades come in handy. And that last mech, it sure eats a lot of bullets. Took me a few minutes to take it down.

Haha well youre welcome. Also hats off to you for actually looking like you know how to play the game, practically every other vid has people running and gunning, not dodging or using coverage and barely managing theirs and their squads abilities.

I played 1 and 2 on PC but I don't really want to install Origin. Undecided on picking up the PS3 version of 2 or just skipping the third altogether.

Wow. They gimped Vanguard. 20+ second cooldown on Biotic Charge, although it actually does damage now. Sad face.

They didn't seem to work here. Might be turned of because of the fact English is not a main language here. We still don't have dashboard voice controls for the same reasons. If that's the case though that really sucks. This would have been one of the first things I'd have used my Kinect for.

There's an option for the Kinect stuff to change the language it recognizes. Try that if you haven't.

The cooldown is huge because you're holding all those weapons. Just give him a shotgun and an smg and it'd be much better.

Same reason you can't get a very good feel for Adept here.

Here is a pretty good playthrough of Sur'Kesh on Insanity with a Sentinal. Very methodical, great tactics on both side. I love the use of smoke grenades by the Cerberus agents to cover their tracks and screw the player over, as well as their flanking tactics. Their health and shields/armor bonuses also dont seem too outrageous which was often the case in ME2 where everyone had max health, armor and shields.

Part 1

Part 2

Ok thats so easy ;\ Oh well i just hope that they give us more control over ini variables this time around.

Can anyone confirm that attack command for squad dont use powers in ME 3? It was fucking annoying to not have option from ME 1 when You could just order to shoot enemies, without using a powers.

So the demo was pretty awesome however one big complaint is the graphics. The scale is larger but because of that, they compromised pretty heavily on texture resolution. Many of the textures in the demo are downright terrible... There are jaggies everywhere, and backgrounds are low resolution, even when just 2D backdrops.

That and the FoV and or Camera is rather claustrophobic, but I got used to it after several minutes.

All that said, it controls tight, the story looks to be epic, and the Kinect integration is absolutley awesome.

Can't wait for this game. (and next gen)

Wait... run that by me again. Power cooldowns depend on how many weapons you have equipped now?

Yeah, I was hoping they'd just put some demo-only weapon cache at the beginning of the mission so I could take the handgun and the AR off my Vanguard.

Did they change the weapons for each class? There was no sniper for Infiltrator but there was an assault rifle and shotgun.

Anyone can carry any weapon, you choose your loadout but only Assaults can have every weapon on them. For whatever reason the loadout in the demo is the same for everyone regardless of their class, so theres sadly no sniper rifle it seems.

LOL... can't wait for some of that banter as well.

Well, no code for me. I guess I'll wait until Valentine's Day after work. I wish I could delete that EZ account though.

You'll get your hands on some sniper rifles in the MP demo.

Just got finished playing real fast. Did a run through normal with a vanguard pretty fun I must say. The graphics seem to be more crisp and consistent compared to the last two games. The controls are way better then ME2 but I still think it feels clunky. There were times when I dived and I went into cover instead. It might be because I'm use to gears of war 3 but its still a demo so I'm sure it will be a bit better when the game launches. I'm hyped for sure.

So is the Adept still a total bad ass? Throwing people in the air never gets old.

It will be in the final game but because the demo forces 4 weapons on you which slows down your cooldown dramatically you end up waiting like 20 seconds just to use Warp again :/

Do you have a valid demo code? Sure would love one....

Chaining biotics on the cannibals as a adept is delicious, love the sound effects. Really enjoyed playing as an engineer despite not thinking very highly of the new sentry turret ability, using the drone to distract enemies and then hitting them with a heavy melee is good stuff. Shame we probably won't have the opportunity to have a whole squad of drones as with ME2, that was a lot of fun.

I'll have to take back what I said in the other thread about the new femshep design. It looks atrocious in-game, like her mouth doesn't even belong to the same face due to it being perfectly smooth while the rest of her face is a low res freckled mess.

Really? I found it to be the exact opposite. I got the feeling that they are really stretching the hardware with this game.

The scale of the first level is huge, but as a result the textures are horrible.

Examples: Anderson's suit, your suit, the buildings, the backdrops, the Cannibals, ect. ( Though Anderson's face is much better than it used to be)

Also the fleet shown in orbit looks much lower in detail than the final battle from Mass Effect 1.

There are jaggies everywhere, and the framerate drops lower than it ever did in ME2.

The FoV is much tighter as well, less to render on screen but it makes seeing whats going on in those huge vistas quite difficult.

The second level fared better (smaller scale) and was more similar to ME2 in texture quality.

There are definitely improvements, some of the faces are better, the lighting is noticeably better, ect. but those improvements definitely were not free.

It is compromises like this, and clear cases of the hardware not being able to keep up with the developers vision that makes it clear that Next Gen consoles are long over due.

I think FemShep in general looks bad. The customized options seem very limited and ugly in pretty much all cases. Say what you want about Dragon Age 2 -- but it had a fantastic face editor IMO. Hopefully because this is just a demo it is limited on purpose.

Compare that to the quality faces that Liara, Ashley, Garrus, and Joker have now in ME3 it is odd that the default FemShep doesn't even look to be in the same league in-game.

Indeed. If it had controller support I may jump ship.

Though I would have to port my saves over, as I beat both ME 1-2 multiple times on the 360 and never beat my PC copies. :(

Kinect support for PC would also be welcome via patch, it works great on the 360.

I was ME1/ME2 on 360, but PC for ME3. You can convert saves from 360 to PC apparently :)

360 pad support isn't something I need for shooters though. Even stuff like Dead Space plays better with K&M.

i bought the first two on steam sales and 60fps really fits the series sleek sci fi theme so i dont really have a choice besides pc but ive always wanted the 360 controller option

Just got home after being out all day and evening, and I'd never imagine that code releases would have blown up this much while I was gone - damn.

Tried the Facebook app but wasn't lucky enough to get a code so I gotta wait two hours.

Normally I would prefer 360 pad support but for ME series KB & Mouse work great on PC and unlike every other game, Fallout, Skyrim, Witcher 2, etc etc, the PC controls are just really well done and more comfortable than the 360 Pad for me. I think its because the shooting is well done, at least since ME2, and having quick and accurate aiming is important for me since I like playing as an Infiltrator and just generally placing my shots which you cant do as well with a pad.

I just spammed singularity and warp trying to figure it out. It's still in, but at least with whatever default settings the demo is on the cooldown is super short.

Also, the Adept is a lot less weapon dependent. Heavy melee is basically a biotic explosion from your hand, and singularity+warp makes a pretty powerful explosion now.

That's good to hear to some extent but man, way to limit my combat options. Never understood the reason. Just seems like a lazy way to balance your abilities by not having to make sure that any combination is too over-powered.

Hopefully someone will mod it out of the PC-release but still, a weird design choice.

People realize this is a demo, the graphics could definitely be better on the retail disc.
I wouldn't count on it. The game is finished.

This is more or else what we are getting. All that remains is bug sorting and certification. We are far too late in the process to provide major changes to art assets.

I wouldn't be surprised if it goes gold within the next week.
