I was 24 as well.

I waited in line after missing the chance to get one at a midnight opening in a separate town. Finally got it at 7:00am, but they didn't have any copies of Twilight Princess. So I went to another town (this is Kansas, even moderately sized towns for this area are lucky to have one videogame retailer).

In total I drove around 115 miles and stayed up for 22 hours to get the system and Zelda. Along with it being a very cold Kansas November night.

I really like that design, and I would buy atleast 5 of those games.

I was 14 when Wii was released. Camped my ass out in front of Best Buy. Met a GAFer in that line. This was years before I even knew what NeoGAF was. Small world.

Pikmin 3 and Darksiders II for sure and maybe Killer Freaks (provided it isn't terrible), Metro and AssC. Yep, that's 5 for me too. Between this and 3DS games I'm gonna be so poor.

Paper Mario, Animal Crossing, KH3D:DDD, Fire Emblem, Kid Icarus, Pokemon X Nobunoga, Pokemon 'Grey', Kid Icarus, Mario Tennis, Luigi's Mansion, 2D Mario, Rayman Origins and that's just what's been announced...

Of those 8, I'll buy Pikmin 3 pretty much no matter what and metro, darksiders, and aliens provided reviews are decent

If we get Darksiders 1 and Assassin's Creed 1 & 2, I'd be down for the games from those series. Series OCD for me.. I can't jump into the middle.

Batman is pretty high-up on my list. I adore stealth gaming.

And Pikmin 3 is a must-buy. It'd be my launch headliner. I'll probably spend the last month before launch playing 1 & 2 just so that I feel fresh on the series and the concepts.

I was 21. A roommate asked me to go camp out with him to get a Wii, I figured why not? We get to a Toys 'R' Us and the line is already forever long, and the manager is handing out tickets. When he gets to my buddy and me, he has two left. I wasn't going to get a Wii but thought, "It's the last ticket, maybe I can make $50 selling this on eBay."

I don't buy any accessories or games, but my friend gets extra Wiimotes, Red Steel (lol), and Twilight Princess. We get home, wake the other roommates up (five guys total) and pop in Wii Sports.... five hours later we're sore and wondering where the morning went.

Wii Sports was a game changer. I said eff reselling this thing (I regretted that a little bit when they went up to $600), opened it and hooked it up in my room spent the next 65 hours playing Twilight Princess (12 of that was sleep), missing work and school in the process.

I'm still waiting for a hardware to give me that feeling again.

I was also 14, one of my friends camped out for the Wii and at the time I was stuck having no next gen consoles. I was so jealous.

Same here. Pikmin 3 is the killer app for me.

Looking at all these Pikmin shots made me go play through the original game, and it hit me how dark the game can be. It's strange - all the hours I put into Starcraft and I never felt bad about sending countless marines to meet gruesome deaths at the hands of the zerg hordes. But the first time I encountered a bulborb, and I watched my little pikmin bravely fighting while it savagely ate them...damnit, I felt bad. :(

I kinda wanna camp out for Wii U, but the fact that I'm in a smaller town and there'll only be like three people will make me look like an absolute twat. (other people will line up out the wazoo for CoD though, this one guy my age said it was "best game ever" I gave him a look like "LOL NO", I'm going on a tangent, I hate fellow 13 year old gamers, oy.)


Anyhow, how many of you are picking up Arkham City at launch? I've chosen Pikmin (if it is), Darksiders and NG3. I'll probably pick it up that same week though.

Sooooo.

Was it a mistake for Nintendo to reveal the Wii u so early? Or was it part of a master plan to get the 'shock' out of the way?

I would go with mistake.

I mean it might have sucked in hindsight, but if they had just revealed the controller at like e3.

And followed up with some of the experiences at like TGS

Just kind of spread out the limited amount of info they were going to give.. it might have been better

But its been radio silent for the most part for nearly a year.

The games can definitely be pretty intimidating at times. The pikmin are really cute (especially the way they chant in the second game) so you get attached to them, but then you have to go send them off to their death. It really does make you feel guilty at times, especially when you mismanage them and lose a whole bunch at once. "What have I done?!?!" Poor little buggers.

Accidentally dumping a mass of non-blue pikmin into a pool of water and frantically trying to call them back to shore is one the most terrifying experiences I've ever had playing any game.

None of those titles just mentioned are system sellers for me but if that was what was on offer, I'd pick up pikmin and probably darksiders and Ghost recon. If Killer Freaks got good reviews I'd grab that too.

Heck, I was 14, middle school when I got my N64..which I got with my first paycheck/job. XD

Though, I wonder if they'll use different colored boxes (i.e. not white) for the games.

They'll probably go with white. As long as they're not some hideous shade of neon green or annoyingly shaped differently than standard DVD cases, I don't really care.

I had just turned 22. I was pretty fascinated with all the tech at the time because (personal info incoming whereby 3/4 of GAF hates me) I had just been on a mission for my church for 2 years in the Philippines.

I got back, and I was like, "Holy crap, the internet is wireless?" "There are self-checkout lines at grocery stores now?" "iPods are that small now?" "PSP can have PS2 level graphics on a handheld?" "The Wii will let you control the game with gestures?!"

It was a pretty surreal experience. Kinda wish I could have that flood of new tech all at once again. It was really fun.

Actually I hope they go back to gray. Against all the white with the gray Wii lettering it looks very sharp. If not, red looks groovy.

White needs a break. Worst scenario though would be the "U" blue.
