I could totally see myself doing all my gaming on the Vita. I hope the PS vita starts to get all the ps3 ports (if Rayman Orgins and MvC3 are anything to go by).

How can this thing not be a success?

Me too, I haven't worked out how to hook my PS3 up to my monitor at Uni yet so all my games are on a god awful SD screen. Since Vita is pretty much the same experience as the PS3 I will be buying a lot of games on Vita instead.

Did anyone else completely give up on putting their screen protector on? Im TERRIBAD at these things. I dont really travel with it, Im the only one that'll use it, my DSiXL and 3DS are still in perfect shape, so Im going commando.

This thing is just the best. A "quick" game of Lumines last night before bed turned into me going to bed over an hour later than intended. That game is almost a trap you never get out of.

Uncharted, Hot Shots Golf, and Super Stardust Delta are all just fantastic. Nothing but good things to say so far (except the stupid screen protectors being impossible! lol)

I almost snapped when it said "SYNCING TROPHIES WITH THE SERVER" why does it take so long? *sob* and I miss XMB so bad.
You MISS XMB?!?! The Vita OS is soooo much faster and smoother than XMB. It syncs trophies MUCH faster (takes all of 5 seconds on mine, which I just timed) and allows you to snap in and out of content immediately. On PS3 you have to wait for XMB to populate every time you want to check your trophies mid game. It's highly annoying and sluggish.

I've thought about this as well. There are a lot of games I could see myself buying on Vita over PS3 if the versions are similar. I would love for this thing to become my little portable console.

Oh yeah, and as soon as you close your eyes you just see blocks falling down...

So whats the best case to get? What would be some must have psp games?

I will go (mostly) digital-download only, so I don't need space for my game cards:

Best looking case, imo!

Is there any way to backgrund download things at a sleepe mode?
I tried it last night and it seems it doesnt download. At sleep mode. That was a bit disapointing

Does the browser in PSV support forums like gaf or eurogamer correctly ?

Works fine for me.

And how accurate is GPS tracking in map app ?

Seems as accurate as GPS on my iPhone 4S. The Maps app is pretty good too, but a tad too slow, and missing the convenient zoom in/out slider. At least I can't find the slider. Have to use pinching.

Near is really cool though. Sony needs to flaunt it more, and realize its benefits fully.

I don't know if it's a glitch or if there is a reason for it, but if you let the system go to sleep on it's own (don't press power), it will continue to background download and even chime when it's finished.

I thought this would be fixed in 1.6, but it wasn't.

Amen. I've only played with the demo Vita so far, and even I saw that it was an improvement over XMB. I haven't been a fan of that interface from the beginning and I most definitely won't miss it on my Vita when I get it next week.

I love the case I got with the FEB. In fact, it is very, very similar to the MadCatz case that I have used with my faithful PSP-1001 since launch in March 2005:

Way to be super-descriptive.

What exactly doesn't work as you want it to...? And, I can't help but ask, why you would buy a console when you know the games you want aren't coming out for a while?

Did you post those screen grabs you promised to? Didn't see them, but could easily have missed them I guess.

I didn't want to be too negative in a launch thread. I got into a few details when other gaffers asked further after that original post. Read a bit more after that post if you're curious. I didn't think anyone really cared much about my random opinions anyway :)
I don't regret anything. I was just making a note.

And yes, I posted the screenshots I said I would. The thread is moving so fast, it's like many pages back now.
EDIT: Here you go: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=35141250&postcount=10013

The Vita OS is pretty incredible. In terms of design, way better than iOS, and I'd say even a touch better than WebOS.

Thsi has probably already been posted and discused.. but I did not know this, so there might be others to..

Damn, that there is thread worthy and amazing. I was just asking about Hustle Kings and mentioned it to a friend last night on Vita voice chat. Free is totally awesome. And the Wipeout news is amazing if true.

And my screen protector is almost free of bubbles on day 2, the Skinomi one. I can't even tell its there.

I find this hilarious... I spent all day yesterday playing on my new Vita, dragging it with me and showing Uncharded to everyone I could find. Every single person I showed the game to was completely floored by how beautiful it looked. Personally, I think that it's gorgeous, and I haven't heard otherwise from anyone in person... It's amazing! GAF-bound pixel counters notwithstanding...

IQ is kind of a big deal to me.

And I don't think it's wrong for me to expect a bit more. This thing has twice the graphical capabilities of the iPhone 4S, and should have much better efficiency due to little OS overhead, but to be honest, Uncharted doesn't quite manage to match Infinity Blade II in overall visual fidelity.

The launch game visuals are kind of disappointing, but it's still early and I think we can expect much greater things from this sytem in the future.

The ability to group apps into folders makes iOS better to me, but this is a huge step up over XMB, which I'm glad they didn't go with. I'd like to not have to scroll through menu screens on the Vita ala iPad/iPhone though. I also hope in future revisions they make a single app for friends, trophies, messaging etc. The way they've done it now is convoluted and quite frankly stupid.

How do L and R buttons feel like when compared to PSP? My only real problem, that I had with Vita ancestor, were those loose L and R. So, are they better on Vita?

btw. 6 more days. I don't know for how much longer I can control it. I need my Vita :(.

Folders would certainly be a big plus, I'll give you that.

They feel good, but they're not quite responsive enough. If you press them just lightly enough to have them click in, they still won't register...you need to press them a tiny bit harder than that.

I've been playing Hot Shots...I forgot the voices in this game are British or Indian. Or at least the first girl and caddy are. BTW, I really suck at this game. Six over par. Yikes.

L-R kinda feel mushy to me like on the PSP Go.

Brought my Vita with me for my 2 day work trip, and lets just say it was a huge hit on the plane, and waiting for our flight. I downloaded Rayman last night before I went to bed to catch a few hrs sleep, so I waited to try it out on the flight.

Wow, incredible game! I was planning on getting it for PS3 or 360, but I think I'm going the Vita route now. All I want to do is get back to my hotel so I can play some more. :(

So... how much could I get for a PSP 3000 at gamestop? Its in good condition and I know they are having a $25 credit toward the vita...

They gave me $25 for my PSP Go, and then the additional $25 credit. My Go was in pristine condition and they were shocked when I brought it in with the box, all the manuals, USB cable, AC adapter, and so on.

Not sure if they give more or less for the 3000 though.

does vita sync automatically or you have to do it manually like on ps3?

I'd also like XMB to be available (optionally) as i think it's almost perfect and minimalist.

Yet another co worker got one. He had a mom and pop shop that doesn't give a shit about street dates. Was able to play Rayman on it. What a game to showcase the screen. It looks fantastic. Now that it wasn't in Japanese I was able to play around with more of the apps and interface, very snappy, but also very Sony in it's god awful logic and oversights.

What a fantastic piece of kit. I think I am going to cave and pick up one with FIFA and Hotshots.

It would be far from perfect and "minimalist" as a touch interface, which is what Sony wants, thus they don't offer users the ability to control the UI with buttons or dpad/analogs.

Which fighter looks the best? UMvC3 or Blazblue. I'm pretty good at both fighters on PS3 and can't decide which to get so I'm going to let my choice hinge on graphics......lol

It's better than my Kuro and my Sony CRTs.

The Kuro actually comes shockingly close to matching OLED at times. If you use a bit of lighting behind the TV (very dim lighting even) it looks totally dark, but if you cut the lights completely you can see it glow. That's hardly the case with the OLED which appears almost completely black. I'm using the second gen Kuro (5020fd) which was darker than the first gen Kuro (which I also owned previously).

CRTs are similarly dark but suffer from a bit of blooming when bright objects appear on screen.

It's very good. In the dark, the screen fades into the bezel. Also, the OLED is extremely fast. Not quite as fast as a CRT, but it actually handles motion better than ALL LCDs and plasmas that I've used.

Let's just say that, when a large OLED TV hits the market, I may finally have a reason to upgrade from the Kuro. It's that good.

Yes, I do hate LCDs (despite owning several of them for various purposes).

Thanks for your response, it's very clear! Iv'e conferted a couple of HD (MKV) movies already to MP4 format. I can't wait to get my hands on my own PS Vita! Samsung and LG will be launching a 55" OLED screen this year. But they will be incredibly expensive. But i will definitely buy one when they affordable. OLED is the future.

oh i agree there, but it would be nice if they allowed controlling the UI with buttons too,and XMB would just fit, it is fast and easy to navigate.

In regards to IQ, I get that it's going to be a mixed bag for a lot of GAFers and hardcore gamers. That's a delicate balance and I think it varies from game to game and audience to audience.

Personally, I feel okay with the trade-off in Uncharted because while the lower resolution is noticeable, the game assets and presentation look amazing and it does rival Uncharted 1 for sure. They had to do that; the game would have lost a lot of its impact if it didn't look like "Uncharted on the go."

On the flip side, I think Hot Shots Golf 6 looks atrocious because not only are the models and environments nowhere close to HSG5 on PS3, it ended up displaying at a lower resolution despite not pumping out the kind of visuals that would have made it a worthy trade-off. The game just looks ugly as a result.

I showed both the games to my friends yesterday and while we do agree that there's nothing comparable to the full res glory of stuff like Stardust Delta, Lumines and WipEout, Uncharted still looked far better than most of the other games on the system just because of the scale and quality of the assets. It's a seriously impressive game and hopefully further iterations of Uncharted and HSG on the platform manage to run at native res.

I'm beginning to think they actually get it.

Capcom gets it too, even if they didn't discount their release for PSN; UMvC3 and Street Fighter X Tekken share DLC. At the very least I think that's what all publishers should be doing. I can forgive them if I need to buy the full game for both platforms, but having to double up on DLC just isn't going to fly with me.

I already loved the OS before getting the system but I thought it being all touch would get to me a little. I don't want it to be anything else now. It's so intuitive and fast just swiping around from a game to a photo or chat or Near sessions it's ridiculously fast and awesome.

And I tested remote play last night. It's definitely faster and nicer looking but I didn't really test anything else out. I do like how you can bounce out of that like any other ap and basically go anything else minus playing a game. This OS and HW is a dream.

First, Uncharted is doing way more than Infinity Blade with its more controlled environments. Second, I think perhaps you need to cut developers a little slack with launch titles. If the next Uncharted or HSG is sub-native res I'll squeal too, but for now I'll give them a begrudging pass on that aspect (the game content is great)
