Up to you !

I put one on the back pad because I think I will scratch it. I often slide my stuff across the desk surface, and my desk can be em... dusty sometimes (I'm a guy, what do you expect ? ^_^)

That is what I am scared of. I will mess it up by moving it around in my desk and stuff. Did you get the Hori one then? Not sure which one to buy!

Just a reminder. The Vita is actually not officially released yet so unless stuff is already up on the Store they probably wont be until the 22 like the FB, Flickr, Twitter apps. :p

3G: Near will activate GPS and save your location, and next time you connect to the net it'll show you the data from that location at that time. This is done even without 3G on and not connected to wifi.

Wifi: Near only works when you access a wifi hotspot.

That is really awesome.

Sorry if this question has been asked (can't get the search function to work on my phone). Are there any benefits to going with the 3G version over the WiFi only option? Does GPS add a lot to functions like Near? Trying to figure out the best option to purchase. Leaning towards WiFi as I don't care to pay any data fees.

In my view...

If you get the WiFi version, remember to add your own router to SkyHook's database. I think the link is somewhere in the OP.

It would make your positioning more accurate and comprehensive. The GPS in 3G Vita should be more precise and works anywhere as long as the satellite can see you (Not indoor !). WiFi "geolocation" will only work if SkyHook knows about the IP access points near you. Hence, 3G Vita uses both technologies (for indoor and outdoor positioning).

Hey, I was wondering, do ps3 trophies and vita trophies sync to one account like xbox live and windows pc stuff does? Or windows phone 7, would be cool if you can boost the account on the go :p

I bought the Sony one because it's available in store when I collected my Vita. It comes with 2 sheets. So I trimmed one and apply it to the back touch.

Ok so I played one at eb today.

First the pros

+ the image is really nice. I like how it looks like it is right on top of the screen and not like you are looking through a layer of plastic then the screen.

+ screen looks bigger than I thought it would.

+ the resolution fits the screen perfectly it looks like if a home console ran everything in 1080p

Now the cons

- not as solid feeling as it looks in screen shots. Everything feels cheap and that includes the thumb sticks.

- what the hell is up with the load times?! Everything took forever to load!. Wipe out was the worst around a minute or so to load a track.

But do we know how far Near searches for other players?

Someone posted earlier that it will attempt up to 10km, but he did not provide any link. ^_^

I reckon Sony will adjust the maximum distance post-launch. It should be server controlled. If there are too many hits within the current max. radius, the Near app may become awkward/congested to use. If there are too few hits, then it's boring !

In any case, the Near service will keep expanding its search range within this max limit to find enough friends and activities for you.

so when i compare trophies on ps3 i also see vita games if someone played any?

That I don't know. I actually haven't checked trophies on my ps3. Just moved some psp games over. Vita has been the only thing i have played but you do see the ps3 and vita trophies on your vita and they all add to your level. I think the vita games won't show up on the ps3 but the level will stay. I need to put down HSG long enough to check thou.

10km isn't near at all. That's kind of a lot in a small country as Denmark isn't it. That's like a 45 minute trip with the bus.

Just got the FEB case from a Gaffer here. This stuff really does smell odd. Mine has a light cigarette smell to it.

lol. You asked for it !

Just a reminder. The Vita is actually not officially released yet so unless stuff is already up on the Store they probably wont be until the 22 like the FB, Flickr, Twitter apps. :p

... and NetFlix should be day one also, plus FourSquare. I think it's important for Sony to keep these apps up-to-date.

In addition, don't forget the Sony Entertainment Network services:
Music Unlimited, Video Unlimited, PlayMemories

PlayMemories should launch within this quarter, and comes with 5Gb of free cloud storage to keep our photo/video library.

Then, you can think about whether you want to subscribe to PS+. ^_^

PS3 Firmware Update 4.10 added auto clock sync. That means we should be able to sync multiple devices soon (PS3 and Vita). Hope to see Vita cloud sync and resume play here. But the feature I want most is expanded friends list. Too bad Sony probably overlooked it. 8^(

EDIT:
Skype has also been announced, but it may be late.

For everyone having trouble with applying the promo to their 3g, here's something i haven't seen anyone mention:
You have to go to add a plan, and then click redeem coupon.
The vita promo is selectable there.
(this is assuming you've already signed up for 3g)

Here are the definitive instructions for activating your free SSD Vita promotion.
(add to OP?)

Login at att.com/buyasession
click "my devices and plans"
click on your psvita plan
click "add plan"
click "redeem earned coupon"
the rest is self explanatory

If you dont have the option to "redeem earned coupon" then somethings screwy and you need to call at&t.

a comment on the PS blog indicated that they were able to trasnfer GT over to their Vita even though it's not on the list.

could someone PLEASE try PJM:D and any others you guys have that aren't on the list? we can at least get a semi confirmed list going on GAF. i don't think sony will be back to update that list for a while...

I wasn't going to get a Vita but took the plunge and ordered the WiFi model after seeing Hot Shots Golf screenshots.

Hot Shots Golf: World Invitational
Rayman Origins

Thinking about adding a third game but I don't know if I can justify spending $40 on Lumines.

It does, but none of my North American titles currently have had updates from the developers/publishers yet, just updates about my friends' activities.
It's a nice way to get news out for game and DLC announcements, or discounts on DLC. Reminds me of game pages on Steam.

Oh okay. I didn't realize there were game specific announcements in the LiveArea. That's pretty cool.

Probably already posted, but just in case...
First MC Gravity Rush review :
Gameblog.fr : 5/5

Games that are as exceptional as this one are so rare, than when one comes, it's impossible not to grab it really tight and press it against our chest.

http://www.gameblog.fr/test_1205_gravity-rush-ps-vita

That's awesome, but there's one thing I don't get. Are they reviewing the JP version or the EU version? If it's the EU version, how did they get it? Could this mean it's actually a launch DD title in the EU?

Played Vita for the first time today with WipeEout.

Graphics are absolutely phenomenal for a portable device. Screen is way bigger than I imagined it to be as well as sharp and bright.

The device is really light. Dual sticks have a good feedback and not what I thought they would be i.e. shit.

All the other people having a go seemed impressed with the device and the price. I certainly was. I'm going to make pre-order on Amazon.co.uk now for WiFi model, 32GB card, Uncharted and WipeOut, plus SStardust on the store.

Hype +1

I will be shocked if the iPad 3 is nothing more than an incremental upgrade. We have seen the same thing from apple year after year.

Prepare to be shocked. On March 7th Apple will be unveiling iPad 3. It will have 4GLTE, a retina screen, and a much faster processor + better battery, all in a package just slightly bigger than iPad 2.
