I can't see how else it would work, what if everybody has a different one?

In HoN, stuff like "Your tower is under attack!" would be voiced with the special announcer, but only you would hear it.

It only comes into play when you do specific things like double, triple kills and as such. If you get Juggs announcer and you get a double kill, then everybody hears Juggs Announcer say Double Kill. If you ally who has Nature Prophet Announcer gets a Rampage, then everybody hears the Rampage Nature Prophet announcement.

There was no problem with it

Aah like that, that sounds pretty cool actually.

The Siege Creep was changed in the test client too, I don't like it:

Aww I loved the old siege creep, mainly because of the hypnotic death animation. Hopefully the new model dies as interestingly

I hope they still retain the old model, even if it's one variation among several. I love seeing it die, falling in halves like a cracked nut.

Is there any good reason for why the enemies' mana bars aren't seen above their heads?

Serious answer: This is a debate that has been had many a time in this thread. It's basically because that's the way it was in the original Dota. I honestly think it would harm nothing to have that option available, since their mana is public information (click on an enemy hero and it's there). It is something just as important to look at on an enemy, and it would not take up too much extra space to put it there, especially since it is already on allies. It's not the same as putting their items above their heads too, as that would take up too much space and is not always vital to winning a fight (unless you're looking for a Gem of True Sight or something like that).

Nope.

Edit _ I would probably be OK with a hover-over system like on. Hover on the hero = see mana and items. Instead of having to click, thats just arbitrary nonsense.

Makes the game harder, instead of just seeing it you have to click on hero to see how much he has. And it does have a huge impact of balance in lower level play.

I've seen a lot of people just get really scared cause i'm like zeus/lesh/lina even though i have like no mana, but they just don't know.

Also in mid-high level, i don't think in a teamfight anyone has the chance to check the mana on the supports.

and adding mana bars on enemies is a buff for Anti Mage. And i heard people don't like playing against that hero; even though he's fine;

But is it a good type of difiiculty? Not seeing the enemies' life bars would also make the game harder.

Well, right now it's the way it is because it worked like that in the WC3 engine. As soon as the game is fairly "finished" (all heroes are ported) we might start seeing some gameplay changes that wouldn't have been possible with the WC3 engine.

To answer your question, I'm not sure if it would make the game better to see enemies' mana bars. An argument for not having them displayed is that you should be clicking on your enemies regularly anyways to see their items. Knowing the enemy team has a Pipe of Insight before starting a teamfight is pretty important for example.

They should take Fog Of War out. It's a very old feature and for the time when computers couldn't render maps fully on a screen. it has no place in modern world. I also get my ass ramped up via abusive players due of it. They should totally take out Fog Of War out. I mean every time my character moves. the fog disappears about either way. It's useless. And it only makes me annoyed and the game harder for no reason. Totally bad type of difficulty.

Today's Revelation: Zeus + Scepter + Refresher Orb = insta-winning team.

Enter every team fight with the other crew at half health or less thanks to greater than 1200 damage to all enemy units (unless bkb'd) on double-ult. Old news to everyone else, I'm sure. But I just won my team the game with it and went something like 18/3/22. It was close until I finished my very first Refresher Orb.

I have to believe they were shocked (no pun intended) when the second one came out and they were almost all dead.

Also: I feel like a horse chasing the carrot on a stick. I've been trying to get back to .500 in my wins/losses, but going solo in pub matches...just doesn't work. I get close, then go on a losing streak where I'll usually perform well, but others really struggle to stay alive or hold their lanes. Dunno if I'll ever get to .500.

LOL. Are you familiar with the term, "ganking"? and how it would be impacted by your "idea"?

He's not asking for the removal, just why it's there.

Anyway,

Just so people get it, I'm not serious. It's supposed to be sarcasm. Do we really need enemy lifebars?
This thread is going to be fun.

Fog of war has very little effect on occlusion, it's where your camera is and how big it is that matters. In fact, you may not be rendering heroes and creeps but you still have to render the fog instead, calculate where the fog should be rendered, etc.. In any case, it's not there to improve performance, it's there as a gameplay element.

I think its a good thing we cant see their mana bars.

it would make it harder, probably to hard, sc: broodwar didn't show lifebars unless you selected the unit. And i highly doubt that many people would play this game if it had no lifebars; we all know that games are "easier" now

But ya, dota is really not noob friendly

if you can farm that, then the game is already over or your carrys are just underfed and it is really bad vs good players

Just pointed that out as something that would increase the games difficulty, but in no way improve the game. To put it simple: harder != better

I do feel a little bit the same way regarding the lack of mana bar. I really can't see in what way it enhances the game. It makes it harder to keep track of the other teams' mana levels in team fights and makes the game more confusing to new players.
