I've completed the beta when I first got accepted in October/November and it was so-so.
Completed it two times last week with a friend and we both had a blast. The no-PVP on release is a bit of a bummer, but I can live with it if they release the game soon.
So the release date coming tomorrow, right? ;d

I like the new difficulty changes. Skeleton archers hurt now and most importantly, I have to respect skeleton packs and just not run into them like before (DH).

Yeah, I actually used a potion for the first time ever against SK and a bunch of his minions as Barb in a 4-player game.

Nice ironman run with you guys. SURELY the chat/party/blanked name problems will be fixed at release right?!?!

:C
Aha, so that was you! :p

After playing Witch Doctor, I kinda don't like him, he just feels kinda weak/gimmicky. The spiders are fun though xP. I think I'll still be using a Monk as my first character whenever the game releases. Still gotta try out Demon Hunter and Barbarian though.

WD sucked from the day beta launched
Well I knew that too, but it's even worse now.

None of the 1-10 skill modifiers are even good. All of them have far too much startup and animation lock to feel good. Plus your minions die really fast and you do jack shit for damage.
Naw, WD dots were pretty OP before.

I'm thinking sacrifice abuse +3 dots might be the way to go now
Grasp is a damn good spell. Even now where the 'buffed' one does 29% WD a tick. It doesn't instantly kill everything like before though.
Dart sucks, buffed darts suck.
Frogs suck
Spiders are sort of ok, but giant startup animation makes it feel bad
Dogs die to 4 enemies and deal 1-3 damage with a 60s CD

That's me rocking 15DPS at level 3 and 25DPS at 6+

Haunt I did not get to, but that was my favorite from before. Still it has bad killing power in the beta.
A specced WD should have a ton of crap in the way of being killed, but lowered killing power. Could be very useful later, but feels the worst in the Beta.

Patch 13 and 14 have been the buggiest patches yet, I'm getting errors connecting to public games, errors with names not showing up, in-game lag is higher than normal, a few friends list errors, public chat is still duping, auction house is still down, etc. etc.

Good thing it's Beta. Patch 12 was the last time I could play without any of these problems.

Next patch could be launch code. Still would be buggy as shit and no one would care at all.

I'm calling it that PvP will be priced DLC, followed by additional DLC for different Awesome Exciting Balanced Arenas (tm).

Such a huge title with no monthly fee, certain CEOs must have been having strokes even thinking about it.

Yeah, I'm still upset about the no PvP news, I hope I'm just being butthurt and wrong.

I just can't see the appeal of playing through Diablo more than once without PvP. Building a stronger character to... stand back and look at him?

Isn't this what the Auction house is for? Blizzard get's a cut on every transaction.

Oh right, forgot about that. I guess I'm just being too upset then. Or why not gain from both auction house and DLC? Win-win.

After that Mass Effect 3 day 1 DLC, that also happens to be an important part of the story, I kind of expect similar ridiculous practices from others as well.

Anyway we'll see, to be honest I don't really believe they'd do that, just a (sickening) thought.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?

Blizzard said Inferno will deliver a challenge to the strongest characters.

Inferno is an additional difficulty level. It falls under "playing through the game once". Then what?
What's the appeal to endlessly killing the same monsters and bosses in the same areas you've seen a million times, if not to find better items so that you can build a character for duels?

I'm not saying that everyone should feel like this obviously, I know many WoW players who are perfectly happy just PvEing again and again. I'm just presenting my, and a lot of other PvP oriented players' I know, outlook on this.

PvP for Diablo 2 was essential. Not the main focus perhaps, but the main appeal for a huge percentage of Diablo 2 players.
This is almost like releasing the next CoD without multiplayer, which is to be patched in later on.
Please note I said almost.

Yeah, exactly. It's Diablo. I've killed Baal (his minions), Andariel and Mephisto more times than I've gone to bed in my entire life. Playing the same bosses over and over again on the inferno difficulty is what pumps me.

But yeah I'm also mad salty over no PvP :(

I was about to reply with some quip about you exaggerating, but after reflecting on it, this is absolutely true for me. =\

It's a sad fact, indeed! But I regret nothing.

I dunno, the fact that you can buy anything off the AH eventually makes endless boss runs for drops kind of pointless.

Don't use the AH to buy yourself gear and make free money from the stuff you don't need?

That's my plan.

(Any money I make is bonus money, if I make any at all.)

Diablo is not a game where you focus too much on a single character. There is no appeal to endlessly killing the same monsters over and over with a single character. That's not the point. But there is appeal with doing it with different builds every time. And every time you can make your own rules, making it harder each time. Choosing a weak and weird build and beating the game in hardcore mode is VERY satisfying and it doesn't get boring.

Diablo is a game that should be played with permanent death imo. So hardcore mode. Softcore mode doesn't make any sense. Playing softcore feels like playing a modified monopoly where you can only gain money, you never have to pay anything. (imo)

I guess you never played Diablo 2 in a way I and lot's of other people do. Most people just create the strongest build and do baal runs. and do a lot of pvp. In softcore mode = boring.

Other people beat the game in hardcore mode with a NAKED ASSASSIN.

Edit: Diablo is like Crysis. There are many people who don't like crysis because they don't know how to play it in a fun way. Instead they abuse the "cloak" too much and they are unable to figure out how to get the most out of the other powers.

Diablo is the same. There are many ways to play Diablo 2. But if you just make the most generic builds and do the generic things it gets boring quickly.

I can't wait to venture beyond the confines of the beta content and have a feeling that we haven't seen anything in the way of randomization and events and main/side story quests they have in store for us.

One thing that I thought WoW did really well was all the little story arcs and atmosphere they were able to craft in the different areas. The feel of Duskwood is the one that most stands out to me as it relates to a Diablo atmosphere and I am intrigued by the possibility of little stories within the story that Diablo games haven't really had in the past. Some of the stuff that I read about in the extra content that some were able to access in the beta has me really excited that there are going to be some quests that are going to be much more intimate to a particular area of an act as it relates to the whole grand picture.

I am excited for that type of story telling applied to the action focused combat of Diablo and it seems like we are going to be taken on a great ride our first time through.

Nice post... I'm definitely looking to see if that'll pay for a new game every now & then. I doubt there's anyone that'll make a ton of money from it though.

Yeah, I will never use real money to buy anything in D3 but I sure as heck will sell something in the RMAH if I find anything good.

Also, from Bashiok regarding Nephalem Valor (MF/GF bonus related to killing champion and boss packs):

We're working on gathering up details and writing up a nice post about it, since it's pretty cool.

AND Bashiok on the question of whether or not PVP arena will be a paid add on...

And then we charge you for it later? Nah. It'll be a free patch.

Exact same thing for me... don't plan on buying a single thing but will gladly sell all my trash loot I don't need for real $$. :p

Good luck.
Everything that is not maxed level or perfect for its level/specs will be near worthless.

Yeah that thing is gonna be flooded with so many people trying to sell shit and so few buying its gonna be interesting to see how that works out.

$0.01 = 2-4 damage ring
$0.04 = 2-4 damage ring with 3% ATK SPD
$2.00 = 2-4 damage ring with 4% ATK SPD and +3 Vit

It's a goddam crazy world. CRAZY I TELLS YA

Honestly, I don't care that much... I'll only care when my Monk is fully geared out. I'm not THAT concerned... as I said, it's just for trash loot I don't need.

Don't you have to pay a listing fee? And there's a minimum price? I'm pretty sure they'll do things to prevent it from being flooded with garbage.

I think gold listings just take 15% of sale.
RMAH takes a set fee, not sure if there is one for listing.

Either way filters on min boosts will help a lot.
