K remind me tomorrow. I have to go beat up some GAF member in SC2. Gotta keep these scrubs in line.

Finally beat a Gold difficulty Mass Effect 3 multiplayer game!
If you guys don't know what ME3 multiplayer is like, it is pretty much firefight, but actually fun.

Hopefully in Halo 4, if they keep firefight, then it receives a lot of love.
Other games (Gears 3, ME3) are nailing how fun versus AI can actually be, Halo Reach dropped the ball.

I played the demo the other day (I haven't played any ME games), but the gunplay just felt really clunky, I couldn't get into it.

Did the Tuchanka level against Geth on Gold last night in ME3 with Xand and co. It was quite difficult. I really like the way the objectives force you to move around the map. Tying the payout to objective completion was really smart as there is an underlying element of keeping your team alive. Really seems like a natural extension from the single player. The tiered random loot system is soooo good.

Really hoping that Halo 4 can return to ODST levels of difficulty. Sure Reach can get really hard to beat but its just not on par with ODST.

Good times. Life useage (I hope that is good grammar) was vital and the climax at the end of each round kept things tense. The armour abilities took away from the experience. ODST made you stand your ground against the Chieftains and Hunters. It also made you save the power weapons. In Reach all u do is start-jetpack-get rockets-bunch of enemies-bam-killionare-repeat.

None of the Halo's are very difficult really as long as you change your playstyle they are still a cake walk. ODST was no exception to this

Somewhere in the world, the Soffish signal is shining. Will he answer the call?

Unless they go back to heath packs/stamina, slow movement speed, and low as hell jump height, sure. They were designed to be inferior, which made things like going up against a Brute more difficult than it would be any other time as a Spartan. That god-awful red stain on your visor, terrible decision.

Guardian remake? No way. Too easy to dominate with the sniper on that map.

Remake one map from each game:

  • Halo: CE: Beaver Creek
  • Halo 2: Lockout
  • Halo 3: The Pit
  • Halo: Reach: don't

The rest is new.

Why not Anchor 9, Zealot, Powerhouse? All fine maps, only need adjustments. A Pit remake needs big changes too, like no fucking attic, better base design (see MLG design), and re-design the Sword area.

How did I forget Powerhouse? Bloody hell. I also actually thought of Zealot, but it's near enough a remake of Midship so I discounted that one.

And I actually think Anchor 9 is hugely underrated now you mentioned it.

Zeolot is far from a Midship remake, and I don't get the love it gets. Its just a huge circle, the gameplay revolves around going clockwise or counter clockwise lol! The verticality and centre is rarely used (for good reason). I guess compared to most Reach maps its the least agitating but I dont think it would have been seen so highly if the other maps were any good.

I guess im trying to say, for me I wouldnt be too thrilled to see it back, I feel the same way about the vast majority of Halo maps though, I think from this hardware generation The Pit and Guardian are the only ones I want to see back. I would love Halo 1 maps like Sidewinder (avalanche was pretty decent) and Blood Gulch/Valhalla to be remade, those are classics.

Hearing these songs without associating them to SSX is so weird for me lol!

No more fucking remakes. I couldn't care less what someone who worked on Metroid's vision of The Pit should be. I want to see what kind of new quality maps they can bring to the franchise. Reach has some of the worst maps in the history of Halo (especially the remakes), and the solution to that problem is not a rehash of Lockout/Midship/whatever Halo 2 map you prefer. At the very least, give us all new maps at ship, and do some sort of flashback map pack DLC later down the line.

The kid likes Elbow, so his taste can't be all that bad.

And for BTB lovers, Avalanche and possibly Valhalla.

Edit: damn you and your stupid edit Bobs! :p

Reminds me of plenty in H3.

Reflection is OK. The issue with the others? Forge. Blame the developers...

Dude, great minds think alike! I know you noticed already but I just edited this into my post:

I disagree, The Pit was fantastic in its own right, Guardian was fantastic for small FFA customs, which was perfect for me and Uni mates at the time. I agree with you in that the other maps were average, but that didn't affect my decision to play Pit or Guardian, they were just damn fun maps. With Reach though because all the other maps are so bad, Zeolot feels like one of very few playable maps, I still don't enjoy it much but its at least medicore rather than awful like the rest of the bunch.

For all intents and purposes though, your right in that there are very few playable maps in Halo 3 and Reach, im hoping for better maps all round with Halo 4.

Anchor 9, Zealot, and Powerhouse are mediocre-average maps at best and don't deserve to be remade. They only need "adjustments" while The Pit needs "big changes"? Whatever floats your boat, I guess.

If any map should be remade from Reach and adjusted, it should be Tempest or Highlands.

Edit: I'm advocating a "no remakes" policy for Halo 4.

Instead of remakes, I'd rather have maps that take place in familiar settings. Something like Delta Halo that isn't Sanctuary or something :p Old campaign places(not the exact place) but rweorked as multiplayer maps.

it takes place in the middle of a convenant ship....this constitutes a midship remake dunnit?

Your mom takes place in the middle of a...

Nah forget it.

Citadel was pretty good to be fair, 4v4 is maybe too much for it, but I enjoyed it, I wish it came earlier in Halo 3's life. I think Citadel is far better than most of Reach's maps, and is a superior version of what Zealot tried to do, but I think the movement in Reach restricts how good the maps can be. Citadel just wouldn't work with Reach.

How about just nuking that map, indifferent about Zealot and Anchor 9.

Zealot is a version of Derelict/Desolation. I wouldn't put it up in my faves in the realm of Sanctuary or Beaver Creek, and stuff like Warlock and Midship were superior, but it's good for what it is. Compare it to most 4v4 symmetrical stuff in Reach/3, it's one of the better ones easily. The space section is terrible as are the red and blue lifts; improve those and it fits in anywhere. I like MLG's teleporter addition.

Citadel was fine for what Halo 3 shipped with in its small-medium sized 4v4 symmetrical stuff. The Pit, Snowbound, Narrows, Isolation, and later adding in Default Foundry, Assembly, Orbital, Default Sandbox? More shit than good.

I think the issue is that Frankie sort of semi-halfway-kind of confirmed at least some successors would return with his comment about how they know what we like. Not sure if they woul be direct remakes or just inspirations for new maps, but it seems something that corresponds to an older map (or maps) will return. With that knowledge, people are just stating what they'd prefer as those sources of inspiration.

I personally think Guardian will be one of these maps.

I'm with you; I'd prefer all new maps. But if we are getting a couple remakes/successors might as well go for the best of the bunch. I wouldn't hate to see Terminal and/or Turf looked at if some are returning. I know Shishka wanted Terminal back in the Anni pack.

I have my maps that I like and wouldn't mind seeing as a remakes, but you just can't please everyone, which is why remakes should be avoided in Halo4 (imo). I want fresh maps and lots of them.

Agreed!
I think I'm still the only person that thought Standoff was an amazing map in Halo3. Remove some of the vehicles and silly weapons like the laser and it's perfection
