There was a Chun Li and a Tron player in pools in that last link. They both lost, the Chun Li player was pretty bad though.

A ton of Sons of Sparda players in attendance hell even more Trish than normal. Texas loves their DMC characters. I saw a lot of legit anchor Dante play, some of the players have the Volcano JC Helm Breaker loop down in XF.

Quite a few Franks too, one guy got his Frank to LVL3 just by getting random snap shots off of Jam Session hits. Hilarious.

Danke's legit comeback with Doom has been the highlight of the tournament thus far.

So is there a default gem layout that applies to all characters that you can use? I heard that it was only 2 gems instead of 3, but would that not still be a tournament option?

There are easily much better options for the southwest. Absolute Battle hadn't been announced for this year yet but UCC in Dallas and Arkansas Regional Knockouts in Little Rock would have easily been the best choice for a Southwest Major tournament. Our bimonthly regional bar fights tournaments in Dallas usually draw a crowd at least 50 participants in each major game. Then there's the fact that both Arkansas and Dallas have a good record of running tournaments in a somewhat smooth fashion. I would throw Austin in the ring too but the venue at Arcade UFO is just too small for something this big, unless Ryan wanted to rent out a hotel or something. Any of these would have been better than PZ.

EVO basically had a application process that let any tournament around the country apply to get EVO seeding points.

My guess is maybe not many or any other TX tournament applied that's probably why this one ended up winning the seed points for this region. Plus TX Showdown has been around for a very long time. I guess some seniority points probably didn't hurt.

I read that some people were upset about Texas not getting a EVO qualifier last year.

Ya this stream is complete garbage. Why do we have to wait until almost midnight for the games people are actually interested in? Also did they do top 32 for marvel and AE off stream? Heard people talking about it in chat but wasn't sure if trolling.

I turned it on earlier and after about an hour of MK, I shut it off. Now they're on to Soul Calibur. How interesting, they really know what the people want don't they?

Simple solution is to just let Furbar run the qualifier in Austin. Who gives a fuck the majority of players are from Houston, Dallas etc... If there are EVO points I'm sure they wouldn't mind driving to Austin.

If Norcal can drive to Socal and vice versa for ____ regional I'm sure TX can figure it out.

Actually, I know for a fact that the Dallas TO's and Austin's Fubarduck applied for the position. I'm not even sure these are the same guys that ran the Texas Showdowns of the past. Planet Zero for some reason is always able to snag a spot in almost everything FGC related, and people are always disappointed afterwards.

All bias aside, I think Dallas would be the ideal location for a southwest major. We have an established, high-quality stream team in Boom Gorillas, more than enough Asus monitors with appropriate setups thanks to DFW fight club, a plethora of venues with fiber optic internet access, and a major airport in the center of the city to make travel more efficient for out of towners. But because our community is so new we kinda get swept under the rug when it comes to community awareness, which sucks for us.

All I know is that Farms did right in not going and Texas (Texas, NY and Cali being the big three FGC states in my opinion) deserves better than this. Next time get the right people involved. Get BG to stream for one. This poor Kensou guy has to stream, play matches, and run around doing various things meanwhile PZ doesn't seem to care on their part. Every time I manage to catch the stream, it's blank but live.

Not even going to watch this been hearing about the shady shit the guys that run this crap for years on Alphaism fuck them for screwing over their community so many times and doing shady shit.

last night was annoying to be honest. No one could find PZ people to run the last couple of pools for the night. Like everyone who was running the tournament seemed to disappear by the time SFxTK pool 7 was about to end. Players basically did Pool 8 themselves.

The sad thing is, listening to stories like this tourney and the 2 SBO fiasco would make you think the guys at PZ are incompetent, but to get away with murder so many times is this community is nothing short of remarkable. These guys should become politicians because they have the attributes of a successful politician.

I love my boys down in Houston, but this is NOT what Texas needed. The South already gets bad/no publicity. None of us are perfect, but some of this stuff is pretty unacceptable for a Major.

Felt like elaborating more on this because talking to a friend about my day reminded me. But, what was even worse about us, players, having to run pool 8 ourselves was that during pool 7, we basically ask PZ(Pretty sure that's who they were since they were running pools for other games) to run pool 8 for SFxTK at the time since we had no clue where the paper was at and they were basicaly refusing and saying they gotta go. I don't understand why start this tournament if you won't be there from beginning to the end.

Pretty much everybody involved in this failed. Instead of telling us that games people care about won't be streamed, they kept stringing us along saying "ya, marvel will be next" until they eventually run it off stream. Not even going to bother with Texas "majors" in the future lol.

This is Planet Zero's fault and theirs only. Don't assume PZ represents all of Texas.

They fucked up, and I doubt they're going to get an EVO tourney ever again. I'm sure the next Texas major that shows up will be way more organized.

Easily the worst, if only from a stream monster perspective.

Even if they only streamed grand finals, at this point I give so little of a shit I'm not even willing to watch the archive for just those. That's how bad it is IMO.

The only thing I ever caught was MK. Wanted to catch some AE or SG. Reptile has some cool juggles though. Ermac not so much.. surprised me.

No late night mystery game tonight right?
