Lego City Stories is one I'm very much looking forward to. I'll probably grab several of the lauch titles this go around. I'm secretly hoping for a Trauma Center sequel where the tablet is used to show the body you are working on...that would be rad.
My hope is that we get:
- one Resident Evil 4/Beyond Good & Evil-level game per generation; and,
- one No More Heroes/Madworld-level game per year
That's about my best, realistic hope for support. Otherwise, it's a Nintendo-playing machine for me. And if Nintendo is ramping-up its production like I think they are, I'm quote fine with that.
When buying Nintendo hardware I think 3-4 great Nintendo games a year and 2-3 great third party games a year is a realistic and reasonable expectation. That's one hell of a line up by the time a 5-6 year cycle is up and seems like a good turnover year on year.
I reckon the 3DS met that in it's opening year so here's hoping for more of the same on Wii U.
By the way, what's the Wii U communities take on Resident Evil 6? Capcom have confirmed they're not concentrating on a Wii U version at this time, but the specific quote of "at this time" sounds suspect to me. Is it just embargoed by Nintendo?

We just survived the last massively insane trolling sh*tstorm a few days back... If its Anti Nintendo seems to be allowed..... Thats at least the vibe i got from the last trolling wave...

Capcpom USA popped up in the Wii U section of E3 2012 with an action game for the system. I don't think it's very likely that the action title refers to a possible DmC or Lost Planet 3 version on Wii U.

At this point, I've gone with the assumption that if they don't explicitly say they're targeting Wii U for a given game, then they're never going to release said game on Wii U. Sets me up for less disappointment and more pleasant surprises.

I think that with RE6, a lot of people's interesting impression that Nintendo and Capcom are now suddenly chummy will dissipate when Capcom comes-up with their bullshit excuse for why the U isn't getting 6. It's going to be an event that opens a lot of peoples' eyes, I think.
And if I'm wrong, I'll happily admit it. This isn't a case where I'm lowballing expectations to avoid disappointment; it's what I honestly expect.
A lot of folks outside this thread like to paint us Nintendo fanatics as irrational and detached from reality, where we think that the U will get godly PS2-like levels of support and be uber-powerful.. but it just ain't the case. A lot of us know what the score is.
I don't see Nintendo getting substantial levels of third party support until the landscape of the industry fundamentally changes - on the level of one of its competitors exiting the scene. And I think Iwata suspects this in the back of his mind and is maybe aiming to see the company safely through this upcoming transitional period.

As unto a light that shineth so on a new day we lift up our standard once more; as porcine brethren and alike return.
Our seemingly slothful campaign for veracity continues.
Welcome back, BurntPork. While though your return could have seen a more vivid day of news, though no Resident Evil 6 for Wii U (right now) was rather interesting, it's nice to see you back.
No update on the trademark problems, no new interesting SEC filings and nothing new regarding the E3 exhibitor list. But it's only Tuesday.
"Resident Evil 4: Better Than Wii Edition" Edition only to be followed up by Resident Evil: Angry Birds Zombies edition that "takes advantage of the UPad's strengths to deliver a thrilling experience in the universe of RE".
Oh and it's a test for the audience on Wii U can't forget that part. :lol
I said it started development waaaaay before they got Wii U kits and is wrapping up development in the next few months. They can't even make a Lost Planet title internally right now and the team is struggling to get the game itself done on within the time frame they have. A Wii U port was unlikely.
That said, it's Capcom and Resident Evil. A port next year is probably likely, but expecting it now was foolish.

Man, wii u is starting to smell like a complete flop: no third party support shared with ps360 because of different excuses/reasons (no install base, different unpredictable appeal of the upad, bad experiences with Wii), no third party support shared with PS4Durango due to lack of power, probably it will get only Nintendo titles, even less than wii (that had a decent amount of esclusives titles very interesting in my opinion)
I'll probably wait a couple of years, allowing the library to grow a little bit in order to avoid months of emptyness..

Another test? Ha. ha. ha.
Segment by segment, Capcom seems bound and determined to piss-off as many gamers as they can. Almost like leadership is pranking the rest of the company.
(and CoD on every device possible isn't a big surprise)
Hmmm so it seems that WiiU will be in par with current systems then.
Looks like I'll be skipping getting one for quite a while.
If indeed true, the WiiU should have launched 1 or 2 years ago. Wii has been dead for quite a while already. I definitely feel the WiiU will not be a success like the Wii was early on.
What is strange to me is that the rhetoric from nintendo has been all about developing a machine for both the expanded audience and mainstream gamers. If WiiU is on par with current gen, they will undoubtedly fail on the latter.
Well, would ya look at that. Looks like Wii U won't be getting RE6.
Couldn't even go a day without posting it again. Even I'm surprised by this.
"Wii U is kind of a special case," said the Resident Evil producer. "The way the player interacts with the device is very different than any other device out there. So if I were to make a game for the Wii U, it would have to be a unique game."
Even then, the Resident Evil 6 engine is still compatible with the Wii U, says Kobayashi. The issue isn't with the game's engine, but rather what seems to be Kobayashi's desire to create a unique title centered on the Wii U's capabilities. That's good to know, because the last thing we need is a wacky Wii U port of what could be a great game on other consoles. If Kobayashi wants to tinker around with the upcoming Nintendo console's hardware to deliver an intriguing and unique game, that's a much better idea than a port.

A port next year is pretty much what i'd expect, no point rushing it out for launch when pretty much no one will own the system, get it out 6 months or so down the line, basically like they did with re4wii
I already know of one big game where the developer has resisted any attempts by the publisher to convince them to add a Wii U SKU or even do a late port.

Keep in mind that all the recent "Won't make our game because the controller is too special" is the work on one (really generally nice otherwise) troll who's been substituting in names of random developers into something that Kojima said many months ago.

Not sure who your industry sources are kid, but mine are the best. Hiroyuki Kobayashi is one of RE6's producers (Yoshiaki Hirabayashi is the other), and my post contains exactly what he said, word for word.

I think that's in reference to Kojima and the Ogre project.
Kojima might just be the only one who could get away with that. Normally the publisher makes the final decisions about what platforms will receive an SKU, but Kojima is the vice president of Konami Digital Entertainment, so he has just as much power to say no.
