The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition |OT| Bow low, you stand before a head crowned.

a small delay to dodging and casting that makes things feel a bit odd at times, but I've adjusted by giving myself a bit of breathing room during encounters. Took a few minutes, but I haven't really felt it to be an issue since adjusting.

I personally feel that every action game should use not canned animations so they could be interrupted any time like in Devil May Cry.

shhh Graham I'm still compiling this Radiant map
Is it just me or are voices pretty quiet now? I can't remember if it was like this before, maybe it was. I guess I'll just turn on subtitles.

Agreed.

I just finished The Last Wish- it was absolutely wonderful. Preparations for the second game are complete, now to begin a scavenger hunt for the Dark Edition thanks to BestBuy's stupidity! It shall be a frenzied affair!

Why do you guys think the Necker looks better? It looks like it's using the same base texture, only with rather ugly bump mapping slapped on top.

360, installed to HDD, ca. 90min in:
- very nice graphics, no stuttering
- some tearing in vid sequences, but seems to get less the farther away from Prologue I get
- game hasn´t really clicked with me yet:
-- haven´t got used to control scheme yet, seems... convoluted maybe? Can´t put my finger on this yet
-- game seems a tad too linear too me, hope it opens up later on
-- I can´t see my choices making a difference in the game (yet?)

That will be the case till your through the lengthy intro section.

Didn't get to play it at all yesterday, I'm gagging today! damn you work!

that is not the case even in the intro section because you get a different escape based on your decisions about certain characters. And even inside the jail there are branching parts in escape.

I had to complete this 3 or 4 times to see everything.

Not sure if I´m through the prologue yet (its my first playthrough).

Just one question: spoiler!
I talked the guy on the tower into laying down his sword and offering the fortress without a fight. Does this have ANY consequence?

Yeah it surprised me that there were branches there too, I was really glad to see pay off to things I could have easily missed.

oh yes, it does. It affects even the third act of the game. And the prologue too.

I disagree. This is not an action game in the outrageous vein of DMC. This is an action RPG and is definitely more realistic.

There's inertia and like in the real world you can't just stop any movement on the fly and do something else entirely.

I like that a lot. Keeps you more on your toes and makes you think before you commit to any action. It's a lot more strategic than just being able to combo yourself out of any tough situation.

I actually agree. That's exactly why I found only casting and dodging to be the real issues, initially. Geralt actually has a good amount of weight behind his sword strikes.

The controls are fine, the only thing that bothers be is that Geralt can't run backwards. He just turns around against the camera. Annoying in combat.

I was installing the EE and then i read about the two files to download, so i interrupted to download them but now the launcher just doesn't work, and yes i tried to open the predownload application. :(

Thanks guys, sounds good! :)

I'll have to get it for 360. What's the word on the performance there?

I´m pretty pleased. Expected worse, given the very nice graphics, so its a nice surprise.
Like I said before, had some tears at the beginning of the prologue in cutscenes, but these are getting less frequent the farther i progress in the game.
So: I recommend it.

The predownload app and the patch setup are two different things. Go to the folder where the EE stuff is, and run the .exe file there.

Well the game is definitely broken for me, guess I'll uninstall it. Shame, played tw2 vanilla 50-60h without even a hint of a glitch but now I can only play it for 20-30 sec at a time before this happens :

capturepuzvu.png

The game and gpus both go "dead"as you can see in that sharp drop of activity, before the game comes back from the dead and lets me "keep playing" ( i.e until the shit happens again...and again... ). Never had this happen before.

Your max. voltage is pretty high. What card is it?

OCed 560 ti's, never had any issues with the OC I'm using now which in the grand scheme of things is rather moderate. ( black screens happened without the OC for that matter, I actually went ahead and OCed just to see if that would stop the gpu/gamevideo resets )

edit : eeek, this version of the game is properly fucking my pc up, just got a good ol' hard reboot crash while playing this, haven't had one of those in a while.

Game updated automatically for me thru Steam and then didn't work. Uninstalled, redownloading, hopefully it'll work this time :(

If it doesn't work I'll just download the installer off GOG and play that way.

It's probably not the game but your hardware. First of all, get rid of the OC and see if that helps.

hmm overall the game was great but.. damn it's short.

I've done nearly every quest or sidequest and finished the game after 20 hours. Where is the additional content of the enhanced edition?
chapter 3 was super short (3 hours?!), the prologue was like 5-10 minutes of playtime

I'm on my second playthrough now (mainly because of the second chapter)

Witcher 1 took me 40-50 hours...

That's a letdown

you missed something. The game can't be completed in 20 hours until you rush it. Also I guess you
went with Iorveth and got caught at the beginning of the third act

I know all signs point to hardware but I doubt that :

1) tried without OC still crashed my pc again, as if someone pressed the reset button
2) ran unigine heaven for 30 min pushing my gpus to 99% and everything ran flawlessly
3) Tried several other demanding games like crysis 2 for example and played that for hours on end without any issues last night

In the end all signs point to TW2 being majorly fucked up for me, it either clashes with my gpu drivers or some other voodoo is going on...

So, my last HDD totally crashed and away went my Witcher 1 save. Is there an tool that allows you to custom make a save so I can import a save with my Witcher 1 choices? Regardless of how much that really does carry over it would make it feel a bit more "legit" for me. I know there are finished saves but they are a mess to sort through really.

Also ran arena mode with High-settings (Bloom turned off) and it ran and looked really good. Gonna go through the intro chapter a bit to see if it struggles, that part was always a bit of a mess iirc, performance wise that is.

My specs you ask? A Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16ghz (Holy shit what a beast it is to carry on this long) 4gB ram and HD5870 1gB

Edit: Siege runs pretty OK, not smooth but it's playable and that part was always the one part that ran the worst for some reason. Nice.

I'm questioning why I'm downloading the patch for Witcher 2 EE since it tells me I'll be downloading 28.11GB, when the download for the EE version from GOG tells me I'll be downloading 14.99GB.

There are muliple sites on the net with different Witcher 1 saves with all possible decisions.

This is in German, but either I or Google Translate can help you if you need translations. Just be careful not to use a save with billions of orens because it will break the second games economy.

Anderlinge = Scoia Tael
Orden = Order
tot = dead
lebt = living
gerettet, verschont, befreit = saved

Just getting black screens whenever I open menus (character or inventory), can still move the mouse but nothing else. I remember downloading some 'mods' before but not sure if that's causing the problems.

Edit: Seems I had some .swf file in a folder that was causing the issue.

Did you check the windows log file? Is it related to the driver? That said, TW2 is a very demanding game so...you never know.
