Halo |OT3| Remember Reach?

If Halo 4 has a customizable HUD than that would be a thing I would like.
As long as you let me remove that dumb text in the middle of my screen.

The hell is wrong with what I said?

They're usually nice enough to let us know when we're worrying about something we shouldn't.

I'm not demanding anything. But they usually comment in situations like this. If not, it's because that's what it'll be like when the game's done.
This is a faulty assumption.

Map specific default load outs? Damn, that's too good to be true! <3 you, 343.

The balance that map specific loadouts could achieve is negated by the fact that customisable lousouts exist though.

Leave a post at THC Frankie, Halo competitive community left MLG site mostly ;)

Thanks for the news sounds awesome.

So it's really happening? That shit is indeed cray.

Unnecessarily big. Makes me think Kinect Menus

I like a bigger UI when dealing with things like that. I dislike Reach's listless list rendition of Fileshare and Custom game options. In Halo 3, I liked perusing through players fileshares; the fileshare UI was actually welcoming. In Reach it's literally a list on top of a bland background.

Also, beat it

one thing that has been bugging me about random weapon drops, and if someone can clarify, that would be appreciated.

For asymmetrical maps, having random weapons isnt that big of a deal, but for symmetrical maps, that can pose a problem. take the pit for instance. rockets spawn long hall and snipers spawn at each base. rockets spawning as something random isnt that big of a deal (as both teams should have equal access to it throughout the game). but what about at snipe spawn? would they always get dropped as the same weapon or is it possible for one team to get a sniper and the other team gets lets say a sword.

OT, but seeing the people in here were interested in getting GR FS beta codes... I came across this on the gaming side thread:

If anyone is interested, give it a go, worked for me.
Definitely going to play it with everyone tomorrow and after it never again.

Thanks, hopefully this is better than GRAW, the last GR game I played.

Spartans ops looks amazing. Just the sheer amount of potential content is amazing. Plus the flexibility to have many different story lines and I'm sold.

Reach's co-op netcode isn't that bad, the only downside is that choosing a good connection makes the wait incredibly long when I'm playing (morning EST).

The bigger issue is people not paying attention and defaulting to Normal with one vote. Ugh.

No, it's pretty bad. (I always choose prefer good connection)

The worst part is when the lag gets severe enough to spirit you away into your own private Firefight universe. Its an incredibly eery and solipsist feeling when the reality of your situation finally dawns upon you.

I enable good connection and same language in Firefight Doubles and the lag is still unbearable 90% of the time. I dunno about campaign co-op's netcode, though.

You don't have sprint on your control scheme lol.

Swapping AA's will probably not be a part of the base gameplay, so I assume that it will be the same button as reload, just like in Reach.

LB would be sprint/your second armor ability, just hit left on the d-pad to alternate between the two. Probably not the best scheme, but I'm a huge fan of Halo 3's controls, and if I lose all the other buttons, I want RB to be reload.

Also, I'm so confused by all the different HUDs. It does make me wonder if they're customizable. That'd be great.

I rarely have a problem, and I play a bit of co-op. Maybe I have the worst connection so I pull host, but I can count the number of bad connection games on one hand.

Unless I have host, there is noticeable input lag pretty much all the time. Usually it's not that bad, but it is still there.

Aye, I see.

As for the HUDs, Frank said pretty clearly that they were different because of different builds of the game. I guess that doesn't rule out customizable HUDs, but you're not seeing customizable HUDs in these screenshots/videos, just the HUD changing over different builds of the game.

As for my personal opinion, I like the most recent build's HUD (grenades on the top left, AA's above the radar).

I feel like we've seen so many different HUDs I can't imagine 343 changing them around that much. Customizable HUD would be great along with being to able to map your own controls.

Likewise. Since I play the sniper/DMR loadout, even a very small amount of input lag really throws the game off.

In Doubles I search for a good match and seem to pull host 90% of the time, though. Lucky me.

Customizable HUD would be very cool, and I'm not saying that it isn't a possibility, but developers commonly try out a number of HUD variations in development, so I don't think that seeing several different ones so far means that customizable HUDs are in the game.

Did any of you guys pick up Trials today? I need more people to put my times against.

I did.

Unfortunately after I realized vhfive is probably an MLG Pro in Trials I gave up trying to beat him. Gotta say though, the hard mode tracks are a pain in the ass. No longer much fun either. Became less about huge jumps and more about small but difficult obstacles.

Didn't the making of video refer to the HUD as being like a body kit? Or did I just hear it wrong? (Quite possible).

Could still be nothing. But it could also be... something.
