Diablo 3 Beta [Beta withdrawal underway!]

God, two weeks. I installed D2 this past weekend to try and take the edge off, but didn't have any of my friends around to play it with, so I got bored within an hour...I need this damn game in my veins...IN MY VEINS.

D2 was practically low res photos and art that was animated. Going 3D changes the styles that you get to work with, and I think D3 nailed it. I don't know if artsy is the right word, maybe raw?
Yeah I guess going full 3D doesn't let them make something of the sort.

I'm with you on this!

It's so hard for me to comprehend the fact that the wait is finally coming to an end - in two weeks I will be playing Diablo 3 - it feels surreal

Apparently a pretty big pole that happened. I'd say it's a pretty even spread.
Still deciding between Barbarian and Wizard.

Edit: Bashiok's poll

Since we have really nothing else to talk about until release, here is my order of characters to be taken to 60 (getting them all to 60 for sure) based on pure fun factor from beta:

Witch Doctor > Barbarian > Wizard > Demon Hunter > Monk

WD has been by #1 since the day the game was revealed in 2008.

I had the CE preordered, but I cancelled for the digital version. I was really looking for some type of action-figure but instead they gave us a Diablo head with a USB sticking out. No thanks. If this were 2007 I would have kept for the WoW pet but I have lost all interest in WoW.

This has probably been asked a bunch, but is there any way to pre-purchase the game digitally at the moment outside of Blizz's site? I got some Amazon credit but it looks like they're only selling the physical copy right now.

Maybe we should do a GAF plays "The Diablo series" in wait for may 15. I would like to do it, but my english is pretty bad, and I do not know if there is any interest at all (it would be a good excuse for me to finally finish Diablo 2.....)

I'm conflicted as to what char I want to playthrough first but I think I will go with DH initially. Had a blast with that class in the beta.

I have leveled all classes to at least 10 in the beta and have pretty much the same ranking as you. WD is VERY fun. I think I will roll Wizard though just because I like the core abilities a little more. I thought it was interesting that Monk was voted the highest considering that I felt it was the most boring class in the beta. I could see it getting a lot more fun though.

You really can't go wrong picking a class in this game. If I had to give each class a grade it would be as follows:

Witch Doctor: A+
Wizard: A
Barbarian: A-
Demon Hunter: A-
Monk: B

To me there was a little gap between those 4 classes and Monk.

so no way to get a CE edition now right?

Might be out if luck pre-ordering it. Though maybe Target/Bestbuy/Walmart are still taking preorders.

However you might be able to get one on launch day. Not all stores take preorders. They should just be selling them day of release.

It's easily one of the highest values for a CE ive bought over the years and I buy alot of them. Average price for a physical CE is actually about 120 bucks and they usually have less stuff then this has by quite a bit.

Blizzard CE are usually extremely good value and just the codes within them can be resold later on for a huge profit.

I know i'm keeping all the Diablo related stuff, but will probably do away with the WoW/SC II stuff. Maybe even the Angelic wings...havent decided on that.

AND she is a redhead with defined abs.

She also bounces.

This in no way had any bearing on my decision to do a naked HC run through beta with her.

I see girls that look like the female barb in the gym all the time. Last month one told me (guess what her voice sounded like) I could gain more mass if I took HGH.

To me there was a little gap between those 4 classes and Monk.

Monk feels very consoleish to me. Last place going by skill available in beta no question.

So noticing today when I log in or start a new character, that there is a server que. I haven't seen this before, and I hope there isn't a que on the 15th. I don't care about being connected tot he Internet all the time, but I'll be upset if there are server ques post launch for what should be a single player game.

I think everything is tied to your bnet account, so there's no way to give away the stuff you don't want.

Ya I really wanted to like Monk, but the class skills just feels too homogenous for me. I'll be going Barb in no small part thanks to Leap. Then Witch Doctor. THEN Monk.

I meant literally short, unless they make the box taller to accommodate a more standard coffee table sized book.

I've got a ton of mini-artbooks from CE's sitting around. I never look at them.

The artbooks in Blizzard CEs are no joke - they're very high quality. Blizzard CEs come in large boxes, so the artbooks are full-sized, printed on high-quality paper, and are outfitted with dust jackets. I currently have the Cataclysm and SC2 one, and I'm really looking forward to adding the Diablo 3 one to my collection.

They're not oversized, like some coffee table books (though they'd still be worthy of putting on a coffee table), but it's not like they're a dinky little tiny thing, like the art book in the Mass Effect 2 CE (that one was pretty shitty.)

Witch Doctor for sure. I'll dabble in Soul Harvest a bit before they nerf it or it turns out it sucks later on in the game and/or harder difficulties, but I really want to go something summon-heavy. Maybe exploding dogs.

My order would end up as Barbarian->Demon Hunter->Wizard->Witch Doctor->Monk. Mainly because barb is coolest to me, monk is lame (unless he has knuckles equipped), witch doctor is awesome so want to save it for the last of the cool classes, and DH & Wiz are the "cool, but not too cool" ranged classes.

I think my biggest gripe with Monk was when I rolled a monk, bought 2 polearms off the AH, and watched him in the field. I don't mind that he doesn't attack with them, but at least leave them on your back. On your back, they look cool. When you hold them in your hands, and then they magically strap to your back when you attack, and when your attack finishes, they reappear in your hands...I just can't do it.

Wow. That's an amazing accomplishment having such a nice even spread. Way to go Blizzard. Shit, first time I've seen something like that. (not being sarcastic either, haha)

Wizard with my brothers and my room mate, Demon Hunter with my friend that I just did a play through of D2 with since she wants to be the Wizard. Sad thing is, it's more likely I'll be playing at 12:01 with her than with the guys. *shakes head* Priorities guys, priorities.

I have almost the same as yours, with exception of Monk. Before beta it was in 4th place, now it´s second. It was better than I thought. All classes were fun and I will, like you get all charachters to lvl 60.

Witch Doctor > Monk > Barbarian > Wizard > Demon Hunter

I think Blizzard has really done a great job here in making all classes fun to play. I couldn´t say the same in D2. There were a few classes that I just couldn´t get into. In D3 this not an issue... for me at least. I didn´t like Demon Hunter before, but the beta changed that. Even if it´s last in my order, it´s still a really fun class to play.

Very excited, only 2 weeks left :)

I kinda got the same thing, but it's Barb with my brothers and ... Something else with my Fighting Game/Borderlands friends

It's nice to have multiple groups to play with, especially since I made sure my schedule was clear for like two weeks after D3 comes out so I'll be playing it constantly. Multiple groups with different schedules ensures a lot of multiplayer play time for me.

Playing Barbarian and Monk here ;)

Cleave, Rend and Leap <3

I love my melee classes.

Edit: I played all 5 classes. Wizard might be my 3rd favorite.

I figured Monk would be pretty high up. Most people were down about it at first, but I've been on board since the reveal.

I LOVE punching shit in videogames. Plus that beard! /swoon

Umm, I'm pretty sure I did see him swinging those swords I equipped him with.

You'll swing your weapon as default attack (normally when you swap out skills), but why would you want to default attack when it doesn't give you any skill bonuses? Maybe other skills use your equipped weapon, but at least in the beta from what I've seen, the present skills don't visually use your weapon
