It's not an option, it's a script. The guy talking about it kind of sold me on using WASD for small movements while attacking. Also, it probably helps with animation cancelling which means you can attack faster.

If I ever post something in Japanese which I don't understand, please BAN me.
WADS-movement is possible and some people love it.

Who is this guy? is there any official word from blizz? i mean can we believe him? oh wait it's a script? so blizzard doesn't want us to use this?

Thats exactly why Im not going to bother. He makes a good and convincing point about the WASD making the game a bit easier because of the move in one direction and attacking in the other.

Blizzard manages to sweep in and disable that shit while your mid way through Inferno, Im not trying to be the guy trying to adjust after that. No way.

OMG fuck yeah.

I downloaded an auto-script for WASD movement in Titan Quest and it was god damn perfect.

I don't MIND holding the button down for clicking...but it's not really ideal. Especially when I've been trained for WASD forever.

Before you get too happy, here's the current script people used in the beta.

Allowing WASD would provide an unfair advantage over click to move in some situations. We could of course make WASD the default control scheme, but we feel click to move is integral to the Diablo legacy and gameplay. We have no plans to add WASD or allow it.

As for your other points we don't disagree with freeing up the left and right mouse button bindings, and appreciate those and the other suggestions. We'll likely continue to make additional changes to control options after the game's release.

Heh, a script. Blizzard has banned people from WoW for using scripts they don't like. To say they would do the same in D3 isn't a stretch.

This is true, and so my dream using WASD in D3 just died. If blizz doesn't want us to use it, then i won't use it. I'm not risking my battle.net account just for this shit.

I'm going to use it either way.

That quote certainly doesn't say "we'll ban your ass"

EDIT: Oh... "or allow it".

Pfft fuck that. Still using it.

I'd prefer WASD (since my mouse has enough buttons to cover all the hotkey attacks), but I won't cry about it.

On an unrelated topic, that dev was talking about wallers that block your path. Can those be teleported through, leapt over, etc?

Oo whilst browsing the Diablo forum, I saw this http://us.battle.net/d3/en/forum/topic/4253973263?page=16#314

Essentially the monk skills that doesn't fit into the category of a 'fist' or a 'strike' got an animation when attacking with equip weapon. So no more 'Holstering' weapons when doing Dashing Strike, Crippling Wave, and Deadly Reach.

Also post-launch 'fist' weapons will be getting animation as well aka Exploding Palm, Way of the Hundred Fists, and Fists of Thunder.

No - but this one does:

...Blizzard’s copyrights in and to the Service and/or Game. You agree that you will not, under any circumstances:

A. use cheats, automation software (bots), hacks, mods or any other unauthorized third-party software designed to modify the Service, any Game or any Game experience;...
source

So use this WASD script - but please don't complain afterwards if you should get banned!

I can understand them possibly temp. banning people using scripts, but I will be very pissed if they do that to me with the darker shader .dll.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
Hmm, Blizzard didn't ban the people who used X-Mouse Button Control-script in SC2 (a program that lets you bind any button to any button, including mouse scroll so you'd be able to do some impossible maneuvers with tricks).

So why would this be banned?

Well taking the quote with some salt, they might be more forgiving to it being used outside MP/ PVP.

That's what I'm thinking.

I don't plan on doing any PvP or even any crazy MP for that matter.

I'll let everyone know how it goes come Tuesday (if anyone gives a shit that is lol).

I'm just not in the mood for my hand falling off from clicking so much.

More control options for players = happier everyone.

Either way, you won't see me bitching if I ever got banned.

You'd have to be stupid to use a third party script that controls your character in D3. It's just not worth it.

Lol I might wait a bit myself. Just to see some 'official' handling method. I find it funny how they say that this would give an 'advantage' but they allow animation cancelling.

Except I'm controlling my character.

It's not like a bot is moving my dude around.

Plus you still have to manually pick up items/attack stuffs.

Oh and there's already a move-button in the options. It's not bound to any button but if you do bind it, all you have to do is press that and the character will start running towards the direction you have the mouse pointer at. That way you won't "accidentally" hit targets when you want to run.

That doesn't matter, when you press WASD the script is inputting the actual mouse commands into the game for you. It's not much different from botting in principle. It's your account though, just know that you're taking a gamble.

It's a dark day when adding WASD movement to a game can be considered botting.

When does the OT get made?

It's in the process of being made and if all things go well, should be up sometime Tuesday. I couldn't guarantee what time, as it's not done yet and I'll probably at least be working on finishing throughout the day. Even once up, I may add some extra polish before the 15th, and I'll certainly be updating it with News, Changes, Announcements, etc. I have a subsection dedicated to that.

Even if something unexpected happens, it should still be up no later than Thursday.

If you want a sneak preview of where I've been testing layout and stuff, you can delve through my post history and try to find where I'm working on it - though there's not much there at the moment. I do have to ask that if you find it that you don't link to that post, or bump the thread (which has been long dead.) or I'll be forced to delete anything there and move it somewhere else undisturbed.

It actually looks smaller than my WoW boxes and SC2 box. But I might just be misjudging the picture.

I think it's just the picture. The SC2 box was more horizontal (the art book was in sideways.) The CE WoW boxes have a vertical orientation, like this one appears to be. Should still be the same size art book and room for everything else.

You're playing with fire. If Blizzard feels WASD is a significant advantage over mouse controls, then you're clearing the game faster, and getting access to better drops faster and more often, and gaining an advantage in the RMAH. There is literally no single-player to just do your own thing in--even if you're playing by yourself, you're potentially affecting other people's games and the RMAH economy.

I'm just arguing from Blizzard's point of view if they bring the hammer down, mind you. But it's a totally valid argument.

I'm going to have to put my desire to not get banned up against my desire to not have my wrist/back in agony. My PC gaming posture is terrible compared to my controller gaming posture. I don't expect to run hell or inferno with a controller, but normal and nightmare should be doable.

There is a flyer up here for a big local chain of stores that say the game comes out this Thuesday,it's a mistake obviously but I was thinking even if it was true, the server will go up on the 15th only right?..no pre-order,head start with this one right?...(meaning no one can even play this early even if some places sell it early hehe)

Having bad withdrawls, reinstalled Torchlight.

Closed it 15 minutes later and wept openly as I stared at my wall calendar.

Yeah, I know.

But that coupled with having to click on enemies to attack and stuff. Makes me feel like I need to have pinpoint accuracy with my mouse to hit the enemy I'd like to hit.

If you play a ranged character you don't need to click exactly on the ennemy.
Holding Shift and firing a ranged attack is faster.

Yeah, I launched TQ for about 20 minutes, finished Athens and almost done with greece, but I just can't keep playing. It gets worse as we get closer to release day.

I like how the official Blizzard stance seems to be that WASD can be an advantage and a better control scheme, but they won't support it.

It's not a huge deal in the end, but it'd be nice, it's a shame that Blizzard seems just as far up their own ass as they do with WoW, though.

Shiiiit. I need to jazz up my world with some Hi-Res Diablo 3 art!
Well wallpapers. for 1980-1200 if possible.

Last request but anyone got the sound effect for drinking a potion or money dropping or any of those random sounds?
