I think some people are overlooking how much of a graphical showcase Pikmen could be too....

Nintendo should definitely not have a problem with overlooking art in favor of technical shortcuts. That's the good part, the negative, of course, would be if their attention to detail leads to unreasonably long development cycles. I hope they've expanded enough, but i'm sure they have thought of all of this, especially given the difficulties the 3DS had right out of the gate, and Iwata's assertion that they have learned from them and will not repeat them.

Also i'm pretty excited to see just how much work Square Enix has put into upgrading the visuals from DQX, it IS pretty much their biggest game now, since Final Fantasy has fallen so far, hopefully it is more than just an Upressed version of DQX on the Wii, which I actually don't mind visually but is only in line with DQVIII approximately (not that that is bad for an MMO)

Hahaha typo, but come to think of it... the graphix r so realistic, the jumpsuits are sure to attract a whole new demographic! and Always Sunny Fans! Brilliant!

Ugh the Naughty Dog talk is so silly as is people who think the Wii U couldnt do what Naughty Dog does.

Will the Wii U ever get pushed that hard? Thats upto developers and Nintendo. That said the machine can do everything Naughty Dog does on the PS3 and much more.

I could be mistaken, but didn't Retro actual hire some new staff that worked on the Uncharted series as well? Perhaps an artist? For some reason I remember that from the thread about Retro's hirings for their new game, but I could be remembering incorrectly...

In all honesty, Colors Wii and Gens at least in that shot of Planet Wisp, isn't really a night and day difference. Sega just did Colors Wii so well graphically.

I never noticed before, but I guess Link is officially right-handed now.

Considering one of the main complaints regarding SS is that left-handers were at an odd disadvantage, I think if they keep motion controls moving forward, you will be able to specify if he's left or right handed.

Wait a what, you here, I haveth been lied to, we're gonna have to work on our bad communication.

I don't know if it's going to be that simple, remember they had to flip the whole world to make that happen in TP (and some puzzles might not work as intended then). But they'll probably have to come up with something.

My source is my ass!
That's a rather complicated question. While bells & whistles are often enabled at advanced stages of the dev cycle (just because said features are often developed in parallel with the rest of the project tasks), there's normally a stage past which visual bulletpoints are not introduced anymore. Unless said bulletpoints had an originally well-known impact on the framerate, i.e. they were accounted for from the start. Or, during the late profiling and optimisation stages, a breakthrough was made which either freed up sufficient resources for extra features which were previously not meeting the bar, or somebody figured out how to implement cheaply a feature originally deemed too costly. But as a rule of thumb, planned visual features are not left unchecked till late into the dev cycle, when they'd be 'switched on', fingers crossed they would not throw the framerate in havoc.

That said, if U-GPU does implement MSAA for cheap, the presence or absence of FSAA in the final product might be a matter of whether devs managed to leave sufficient spare edram for NxMSAA or not.

Thanks for your answer :)
It's encouraging, furthermore considering the latest dev kits allowed studios to gain some frame per second without doing anything, let's hope these additional resources will constitute a free room to implement FX, effects, increase IQ, that could widen the differences between PS360 versions and Wii U one.

Retro has hired people from Naughty Dog,Gearbox etc. Naughty Dog gets to push the PS3 as hard as they do because of the linear nature of the Uncharted Series. Yes they are an exceptionally talented team but they are making sacrifices to get the oomph the series is known for.

I agree. For skyward Sword they said it would be too hard to create a left flip version of everything, but they don't really need to do that. Either they were trying to cover up stubbornness, or someone had a major oversight.

There really is no reason why they couldn't have flipped just Link's model. All the sword swipes are mapped, It wouldn't have messed up anything at all.

Seeing as you can play the game with your left hand anyway, flipping the model would only make the appearance match what they are doing.

I cant believe i am the person asking this now, since before the move i was always o ntop of this thread, but has anything happened? Any teases i missed?

In terms of stylistic similarity, I believe SEGA provides a valid reference for the sort of leap Nintendo could make between this generation and the next.

(Sonic Colors vs Sonic Generations)

Something to consider though is that Sonic Colours wasn't displayed in that resolution on the Wii. The jump you would really see would be that Colours screenshot in 480p up to that Generations screenshot.

I want a Mario Sunshine HD remake. That's one of my least favorite games in the main Mario series. But I know I went into it wanting Mario 64 2, so i'd like to give it another shot without putting those expectations onto it. Of course Nintendo would have to release a controller with analog triggers, and I don't know if there's a good chance of that happening.
Funny you say this as I'm currently revisiting the game (also my least favorite main Mario game, for the same exact reason, M64>*) and I'm finding the game alot more enjoyable this time around, it feels very fresh and new I don't even remember half the stuff i'm doing which is great, if things continue like this it might end up ranking above galaxy games in the end for me.

Not actually that important
Assassins Creed 3? Don't care for AC
Rayman Legends? Budget release on PC
Darksiders 2? Didn't like the first, maybe on pc
Alien Colonial Marines? YES. Probably unless the pc version is much better.
Metro Last Light? Nope.
Batman: Arkham City? Have it on pc and I like AA much more.
Project Cars? PC. It'd be awesome if Wii U was compatible with the G27 and such.
Dirt? Nope.
Ninja Gaiden 3? Never.

Damn, hopefully Nintendo has a couple of good games for launch.

Edit: poor Ace Bandage :(

Something just crossed my mind, thought I would pop in real quick to get some answer/opinions; Will the communities be shut down along with OT during E3?

GAF has been 500ing a lot lately, so I imagine the less stress on the server the better during E3. Were will we migrate to then? I'm sure the advertisements/boxes/booth threads will be up by then, so those seem like likely choices as long as they are Nintendo-themed of course.

I don't understand the hate that Sunshine gets. It was incredibly well-crafted game. I loved the level design.

Watch it now, everybody better be on your best behavior or I'm going to find a way to coax you all into adding Bad Rats (bundles, bundles everywhere) to your steam library, and then you shall be forever laughed at and ridiculed, you know, like if you defended a Sonic game or something!!

Should be the mark of shame for everybody who gets banned now through E3.

Always loved jetting through the water in FLUDDs waverace mode, amazing fun only beaten by the Zora mask.

If they weren't stubborn enough to stick with slidepads, I think we'll get proper triggs as well.

Same, I'd never heard anyone saying they disliked it before coming here. It certainly has to do with the theme, because the gameplay is superb.

I'm trying to think of any game that has made my palms sweat more than this one. Any one greater challenge. I can't. Those FLUDD-less levels made me want to scream at times, but when I was done.. I felt so damn proud.

I know I say I love Galaxy better, and I do, but my heart wouldn't be broken one bit if we saw a return to that island.

Skype (or Mumble) Post-Conferences Reaction:

Here how it's going to work. (FOR REAL THIS TIME!)
First, we need a host, that will stay for the whole hour, recording the session to later edit it and put it up on GAF so other people can listen to the reactions and discussions.
The host will need to put have all the participants Skype IDs, as he will invite them to the conference call OR set up the mumble server.

EVERYBODY WHO WANTS TO PARTICIPATE CAN. There is no limit! We'll then divide everyone into groups of 4. Each group will have 15 minutes of discussion, after that the host will demand the current group leave the call and invite the next group.

The groups won't be made today. I will only list who will participate and we'll divide later.

Host:
1. BY2K
2. AceBandage

I don't think I'll do this since I have poor internet and I need my internet connection for the actual stream, but this is a cool idea. Just record the reactions please! I love watching reactions! Theres youtube videos of reactions by someone that has the reactions of Nintendo World store for the last couple years and they are awesome. There is also some other people, called Nintenio or something...that post their live reactions. I always am on the lookout for REACTIONS!

I may try to make a seprerate video of my reactions, tho I am usually silent during reactions and do all the reacting in my head.

NINE DAYS!

The most positive number of posts about Sunshine in a row I've seen here, maybe ever. Glad to see that.

I'm going to add to it, Sunshine is a fantastic game.

I don't know about you guys, but I want a Wave Race Wii Sports Resort-style. Loved the control scheme for that activity, would love at least an option to play it that way.

Either way, it is time for a new Wave Race.

I think it was because of its randomness and "difficulty". Putting Mario in a tropical island setting didn't sit well for some people apparently. Anyways, I loved it.

That's the type of experience i'm hoping for when I get to replay it. At the time I was just so disappointed that it really didn't feel like a sequel to M64. I probably did 8 120 star runs in M64, while I just wanted to finish Sunshine and put it away. After that I never went back to it.

I don't even hate Sunshine. It's definitely a great game, but my expectations were for it to be another M64. And I just couldn't get over that while I was playing it.

I put sunshine on the same level as 64, with the galaxy games being just a bit better. Sunshine is still a good looking game and I enjoyed the difficulty

I just want to fall back on the Link talk for little bit. I just realized this, but TP Link must've had insane upper-body strength! If I remember right, the other Links (OoT and WW ones immediately come to mind) have needed gauntlets to lift heavy shit, but then you have TP Link lifting a giant-ass Goron (
I'm thinking of the mid-boss of the Goron Mines here
) and tossing him flat on his ass! D:

Man, they gotta bring back TP Link!

I want an open world-ish 3D Mario that is similar to Star Fox 64 as in there are a ton of different bratching paths to choose from to get to the final boss, but there is almost zero loading or loading hidden behind entrances/doors/etc similar to Metroid Prime.

No menu, no stars, no red coins, just taking a path and exploring your way to Bowser. This way you can take totally different paths each time and technically experience new content/experiences each time you replay the game.

That sounds like a perfection of the design of Super Mario Bros. There's lots of freedom in which direction you want to go with the warp pipes. A big seamless world leading to bowser sounds fantastic. There could even be 'other castles'. :p
