I still remember the pre-release hype for this game. The screenshots blew me the fuck away in whatever magazine it first appeared in.
And I remember an old interview, where someone from Id said you could use the darkness to your advantage, and hide from the enemy. I wonder why that was cut out. Perhaps because it wouldn't have suited the game?
I thought it was just a trailer showing us the original game and telling us what would be coming. I had no idea that was new gameplay. This is a remastered game? Looks terrible. I can already tell there are PS2 quality textures and assets from that video.
Are id themselves working on the port? I'm getting this on PS3 also and that would be a fear of mine. But I don't think they could mess this up. At least I hope not. Rage turned out pretty well I think. Well, besides the pop in. But the game ran great from the demo I played of Rage.Absolutely awesome! One of my all-time favorite games. Played it back in the day on Radeon 9700 Pro, and I'm interested to see how it'll look on a PS3 and a bigger screen. I only fear that Bethesda will find a way to fuck up the PS3 version.
You'd always be hidden. Always.

“DOOM 3 was enthusiastically embraced by gamers worldwide at its release,” said John Carmack, Technical Director at id Software. “Today, the full experience has been enhanced and extended to be better than ever, and is delivered across all the platforms with a silky smooth frame rate and highly responsive controls. New support for 3D TVs, monitors, and head mounted displays also allows players to experience the game with more depth than ever before. We think shooter fans everywhere will love it.”

If this is a budget title, I'll probably get it.
Doesn't appear to look much different. Definitely not on par with Sikkmod.
Sikkmod, aside from its graphics additions, also allows you to tweak a wide variety of game variables that can completely transform the way it plays. You can adjust nearly everything that matters.
Player/Enemy health and speed, damage variables, add random monsters, change health system, remove reloading, and all sorts of other things. You can make the game play much more like Doom 1 and 2 with many more on screen enemies and a much faster pace if you desire. It's pretty damn awesome.
Why is this not a $20 download title?
I just installed the sikkmod + Wulfen texture pack, also got it running in 1920x1200 16:10, I felt like hugging my PC afterwards, looks amazing, the above mod will blow the new release out of the water.

If you install the above mod then I assuming you'll want WS resolutions also,
Go into the sikkmod folder and edit the doomconfig file (open with notepad)
seta r_mode -1
seta r_aspectRatio 1 (0 = 4:3, 1 = 16:9, 2 = 16:10)
seta r_customHeight 1920 (Your screen height)
seta r_customWidth 1200 (Your screen width)
I also did the same to the config file in the base folder.
Also take note of this in the sikkmod readme,
"The mod can be loaded in two ways.
1) is to load it through the "Mods" main menu item.
2) is to use a custom shortcut to load it directly. You do this by creating a new
shortcut for your "Doom3.exe". Right-click on it and select "Properties". Click
on the "Shortcut" tab and in the "Target:" field put this:
+set fs_game sikkmod
after "...\Doom3.exe"
Example: "C:\Games\Doom 3\Doom3.exe" +set fs_game sikkmod"
Don't forget if you have this in steam you can add the above by right clicking on the game in your steam library, select 'Properties' and then 'Select Launch Options', cut and past the balded above into that box.
Once all this is up and running and the mod is loaded you'll have a sikkmod options button on the main menu, you can go in there and turn on a lot of nice new effects, although soft shadows seemed to kill my system a little, everything else was fine though.

60fps? Rage is so I don't see any reason why this won't.
I play doom and doom 2 in 16:9 on the regular. Are they doing anything to Doom & Doom 2? I'm sure the old tech prevents it but it doesn't stop me from wanting Doom in 16:9.
I hope so but I doubt they'll do much if anything. Are they doing anything to Doom & Doom 2? I'm sure the old tech prevents it but it doesn't stop me from wanting Doom in 16:9.

I still have the oXbox LE , so I'm good.
(Bought the system for it, no less.)
Still, I feel like the whole package could have been better handled. What if they'd converted the Doom 3 assets to idTech 5?
Also, when are we going to get Quake and QuakeII for consoles?
Quake II came bundled with Quake IV, at least on 360.
idTech 5 uses pre-baked lighting, and since the entire "stylized" look of Doom 3 depends on a unified real-time lighting model, it wouldn't work out well. I also don't consider idTech 5 to be that great an engine. It's interesting from an academic point of view, but one of its key features, megatextures, turned out out to be impractical when used in an actual game.

I'd imagine, if they're ports of the XBLA versions, that they would, although to be frank it's not like it ever NEEDED them...I wonder if Doom and Doom 2 will have trophies/achievements? I hope so.
