Haven't been following this thread, but has any of the hardcore ninteno fans spun this press conference as good or passable?
Definitely seen as a disappointment. Even the most Nintendoest of the reasonably sane Nintendo posters (ones who stepped away briefly from GAF to avoid getting banned via meltdown, for instance), used terms like "non-impressed".
However, there are some reasonable positive spinnings, some examples of which ae:
* The launch window lineup, as much as it desperately needs a huge anchor title, is not really subpar as most launch window lineups for new consoles go.
* Ubisoft's Zombi remake turned out to be surprisingly good, with logical gameplay ideas (I like that they're using the "gameplay doesn't pause while you're focusing away from the TV screen so the devs can throw monsters at you while you're distracted" mechanic that I've been hoping would appear in RE games) and a more usage of old-school game ideas (less linear exploration, healing via items instead of ducking behind boulders, hidden items all over the place) that I personally prefer and therefore than I think desperately need to make a resurgence.
* Holy shit, I really don't like turn-based RPGs or even RPGs in general, but Paper Mario is ridiculously good looking.
* "RAAAARGH I LIKE FRENCH FOOD
I'M HUNGRY NOOOOOW."
* Apparently a few of the "Nintendoland" games are deceptively very fun.
* We've seen further third party announcements (like Madded and FIFA) for this year which weren't covered in the N-Conf, so the door is open to more launch window games
There are other things, like Rayman looking pristine, that we already knew about before E3. But yeah, we're having to resort to cherry picking here, and Nintendo shouldn't be treating its peeps like that.
