Plague Inc is very good. I just need to have Defcon music to go with it.
I second this. It's definitely worth a purchase. It's one of those "create your own disease and destroy humanity" games. Way fun.

To those wondering if backgrounded apps don't use CPU, I definitely noticed something this morning. I have a feature on my jailbroken 4S to dim any icons that *aren't* running in the background (ie. using any active resources at all). Had the following icons in my task switcher:
v6LDo.png

As you can see, the only things active are EQu (equalizer/music player), Pinball Arcade and email (with iCab being closed down/not running). Listened to music in this state for around half an hour, the battery percentage had dropped from 83% to 60%. Obviously this isn't a common occurrence, but it definitely happens.

Phone was quite warm during that period too, I must say!

There's no doubt it happens with certain apps. I usually play in bed and I will pass out then wake up 5-6 hours later and my Ipad has lost about 20-30% of it's battery.

Tribez, Pinball and Bard's Tale are the biggest offenders.

Personally I close every single app at the second I am not using them. It takes way too much battery to keep anything open imo.
Who could do that? Man, that would get annoying fast. I'd recommend just jailbreaking your iPhone and having a program just automatically do that.

Or at least get that program that automatically puts the close 'x' on the corner of the apps in the switcher bar without having to hold an app down for a few seconds. That saves some time.

I do the same thing... E.g. I take my turns in the 3,4 async games I'm playing, then close all of them right when i'm done. Fast and easy.

FYI for any Japanese GAF'ers...

Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP AKA スキタイのムスメ:音響的冒剣劇 is now available on the App Store, localized & realized by the fine folks at 8-4, and featuring Suda 51 as the voice of Logfella (who is voiced by Robert Ashley in the English version).

It's an update, meaning that anyone can feel free to check out the Japanese version if they've already bought it (but remember how to get your device back to english!).

What are the best full fledged games on iPad? I would guess Final Fantasy games? Some point and click adventures? I'm thinking games that you wouldn't mind paying $40 on Ds or PSP for. Do those exist?

Those Lego games are apparently ports of the console/Vita/PSP versions of those games, and they're pretty fun.

I'm used to it. It's a minor annoyance compared to the power I save. It takes like 3 seconds to close an app.

ありがとう! Look forward to revisiting it in Japanese.

Am I the only one who DOESN'T want asynch multiplayer in games? Or at least the option to choose?

Asynch ruins a whole lot of games for me... I love Hero Academy but I cannot enjoy it unless it's with someone who I know and is playing it continuously till the end.

I finally finished off Bring Me Sandwiches, every piece of toast and ship part collected. Gotta say, it was a hell of a lot of fun from start to end. But at the same time, it was also one of the most infuriating games I've ever played! The requirements to do some of the more complex levels with no spills was driving me mad, there doesn't seem to be much consistency with how you're injured - sometimes I can jump on a pigeon, other times it'll hurt me. Gah!

But still, I persevered and am glad for it. It's a really gorgeous game too and it performs wonderfully, great art to boot. It would have been nice to get an ending screen though, some iOS games can be very anti-climatic when you 100% them. All I would have liked was a little sequence showing my ship blasting off or something. Otherwise hy did I collect all those parts??

It's really fun to hear about people 100%ing this game... we went through a ton of effort to jam-pack it full of content (especially content designed to feel "old school" when it came to the level of challenge. Sadistic game design can be a bit of a guilty pleasure... ).

By the way, a special ending for 100% would have been awesome; I think its absence mostly came down to time-constraints, but definitely something to keep in mind and strive for next time. The ship looks neat though, right? :)

Thanks so much for playing! We're super close to the release of our next one, by the way, so looking forward to seeing what GAF thinks of that.

I'll be there for it man! Played the hell out of both of your games. They feel just right, that's the most important thing IMO. Even if you suck at them, they're still a pleasure to play.

Been playing some Asphalt 7, came out yesterday, shit is good man. If you at all enjoyed the previous one(s), you'll like this one. Physics still have that typical strange Asphalt style but I'm really happy to see the game looks and plays significantly better and runs at a better framerate than the previous one as well. Did not expect that from Gameloft, their sequels seem to become worse and worse in terms of optimization but this one became better.

I just hope it becomes more challenging. This may sound crazy but I sincerely hope the game will rely on IAP more as you progress so that there's actually a serious challenge for those who don't buy IAP.

Oh....that old 'Nintendo' mentality eh?

To those wondering about the multitasking stuff:
Just finished this test off, pasted as I typed it in. All times as PM, given I'm in Australia:

***************************************************
Finished playing at 10:10 (approx, may have been a little earlier)
Current apps in task switcher: (appearing in this order) Settings, Tweetbot, Pinball Arcade, Facebook. Note: No other apps opened at all during this time. (Meaning I opened Tweetbot and the Settings screen *after* PA was closed)
10:16 - 59%
10:17 - 58%
10:23 - 54% (at lock screen)
10:25 - 52% (at springboard, just entered suspend/lock screen now)
10:31 - 52% still (taken off lockscreen)
10:34 - 49% (@ springboard)
10:36 - 47% (@ springboard, screen *just* dimmed, then locked by itself)
10:41 - 47% (at lock screen)
10:42 - 46% (*just* switched to springboard)
10:50 - 40% (locked a minute or two previously, by itself)

Just reloaded PA from the task switcher, and it resumed from the pause menu in-game (not restarted from the splash screen) so it was obviously still running... and running HARD.
***************************************************
Just noticed from it being on the springboard page w/o PA running... it's consumed 1% in the last 6 minutes or so. 6x better (give or take) than it was when PA was in the task switcher.
So... yeah. Definitely close down PA if you want your phone to wake you up in the morning/save battery!

Is multiplayer for Magic asynchronous?

It is real time only. Magic has too many decisions per turn by both players to really have it work well as an asynchronous game. Each player's turn would require something around 4 passes back and forth even if no one actually does anything.

I wish I could play New Star Soccer on the iPad. Bought it on my phone (Android) and it's great, but it would be even better on a bigger screen.

It seems to crash whenever I either press the Game Center icon, or when it asks me for my password to sign in (when restoring purchases, buying IAPs, etc). As soon as I press OK after entering my password, it crashes.

The only way round it I can think is to create a second UK account, buy the career mode using that account and then play it on my first, main account. Will iOS handle multiple logins in that situation, like it does for updating apps bought from different regions?

I asked in the Magic 2013 OT, but I'll ask here for those playing on iPad - does multiplayer allow you at add friends and such? It would be quite awesome to have a GAF league or something similar...Or just GAF folk to play with in general!

I've only played it on the iPad.
